  1. Celiac.com 10/13/2020 - Peanuts are naturally gluten-free, and so are most peanut butter brands, unless they've got added gluten ingredients. However, many brands do not label their peanut butter as gluten-free, and many unlabeled peanut...
  2. Celiac.com is a USA-based site, but the trend to rely on blood tests to diagnose celiac disease is growing in popularity in all countries. Multiple studies done over the last 15 years have shown this to be an accurate way to make a diagnosis in most cases, provided the blood tests are done using the recommended protocol: Only a minority of blood tests...
  3. Please have a look at our site's Safe & Forbidden lists, which is a good place to start: You may find this helpful as well:
  4. The study here looked at over 1,000 infants, rather than just one. Science requires much larger samples to find evidence of an effect that can be measured and applied to a larger population.
  5. If you mean the GliadinX advertised here, who are current sponsors of this site, there are multiple studies that have shown it to be effective at breaking down gluten in the stomach, so it could be helpful for trace amounts of cross-contamination. Of course it's important to avoid all gluten, but if you travel, eat out, or buy certain products that are naturally...
  6. If they did run the blood test and it were negative they likely would not be looking for celiac disease with a biopsy, but definitely call and see if they ran the test. It actually would be unusual for them to schedule the biopsy for CD without having first run the blood screening. If they haven't run it yet, I would request it.
  7. This is the right place, and welcome to the forum! Did you by chance get a celiac disease blood screening done? Normally this would take place before a biopsy. If so feel free to share the results here, as that would give us a good idea whether or not you might have celiac disease. Certainly your symptoms sound consistent with it. It turns out...
  8. Celiac.com 10/12/2020 - Researchers have recently begun to understand that gut bacteria play a critical role in keeping people healthy. They are also beginning to understand that our poop offers an excellent glimpse into our gut health...
  9. For those not yet diagnosed with celiac disease it might be a better approach to first get a blood test for celiac disease, especially since you can now do this mail order for under $100. If you aren’t able to do this your elimination approach is not a bad alternative, but many people with gluten sensitivity don’t have obvious symptoms.
  10. While I do believe that some people with celiac disease may also need to eat a grain free diet to fully recover, the vast majority do recover as evidenced by the regrowth of their villi and normalization of blood antibody tests while on a standard gluten-free diet that includes eating corn, sorghum, quinoa, GF oats, and other greens that are considered gluten...
  11. Celiac.com 10/10/2020 - If you're looking for a dish that's light, easy to make, but still satisfying, these clams with spicy tomato and garlic broth are perfect for the beginning of fall. They offer the lightness and freshness of summer...
  12. Yes, unfortunately I can't tell your reading. Did you have 3 as your tTg result? I can't read the other results either.
  13. Celiac.com 10/09/2020 - We get more than a few question about cheese. Specifically, is cheese gluten-free, and safe for people with celiac disease? With few exceptions, cheeses are made with milk, cultures, and often some kind of rennet...
  14. This company has home mail order tests: https://www.imaware.health/
  15. I think your approach of taking magnesium and a good vitamin/mineral supplement might be a good place to begin.
  16. It looks like it is naturally gluten-free by ingredient, but not labelled gluten-free: https://www.blackbeardeli.com/product/Liverwurst-Braunschweiger-Natural-Casing "PORK LIVERS, PORK, BACON (CURED WITH WATER, SALT, SUGAR, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, SODIUM ERYTHORBATE, SODIUM NITRITE, SPICE EXTRACTS), BEEF, SALT, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF NONFAT DRY MILK...
  17. I will have to assume that you have a good handle on your gluten-free diet, and didn't eat out or eat things that could have been contaminated. Obviously contamination is my first thought, but if you're sure that your diet has been clean then it could just be a bug of some sort, including something from the cucumber.
  18. We have also published many articles on this topic here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/depression-and-celiac-disease/
  19. In general it's better to get tested before going gluten-free, however, if you find relief on a gluten-free diet and are not one to need a formal piece of paper to keep you on a the diet for life, then a formal diagnosis may not be necessary. There are disadvantages to a diagnosis, for example higher life insurance and possibly health insurance premiums,...
  20. Nothing in our article is incorrect. The link you posted does not say the guidelines are temporary, and they have not posted any end date to the current changes. They are the current guidelines for diagnosing celiac disease in the UK--which doesn't include biopsy for the vast majority of celiacs. If the guidelines change we will post an article about such...
  21. Celiac.com 10/08/2020 - InForGrowth has released its latest research report on the current market for celiac disease drugs, along with development trends and forecasts through 2026. The 2020 Celiac Disease Drug Market Report's analyses...
