Doctors can’t figured it out
Scott Adams replied to SophieSweetPotato's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thyroid issues are a common related issue with celiac disease, it sounds like you’ve been tested for this issue, is that correct? If so, did they find hypo or hyper thyroid, and treat you for this? Are you 100% gluten-free? Hospitals are famous for not being great at providing gluten-free meals. Also, have you been tested for vitamin and mineral deficiencies l... -

Can I assume that you also have celiac disease, since you’re posting in a celiac forum? If so, many celiacs suffer from SIBO, which is small intestine bacterial overgrowth. There are diets, usually low carb/paleo, and grain and sugar-free that help re-balance your gut flora. -
I do not believe so, as their products are tested for gluten.

This site shows the Trader Joe's Summer Sausage to contain the ingredients below, so it's naturally gluten-free, but I don't think it's labeled gluten-free: https://www.fooducate.com/product/Trader-Joe-s-Natural-Turkey-Summer-Sausage/56882DE9-F762-9A48-4C3A-853457A72A83 The same is true for Trader Joe's Hashbrown Patties: https://www.fooducate...

@cyclinglady As a moderator you know that we've always allowed companies to come here to defend their products against criticism, which is exactly what @docaz was doing here. There is nothing unethical about this, and it doesn't violate our board's rules against self promotion. He's responding to criticism of his product, which we've always allowed. The...

So not everyone can, or wants to, prepare all the meals they'll eat for the rest of their lives at home using only whole foods and plain, simple ingredients. Some people like, or need, to eat out, where cross-contamination is common. This supplement is not marketed in a way that encourages cheating on the gluten-free diet, but is marketed as an option for...

I think i may be a celiac
Scott Adams replied to Michal Korneluk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The only way to know for sure whether you have celiac disease would be to get a blood test for it. In order to do an accurate blood test you need to be eating gluten daily for several weeks before any tests are done. More info on the blood tests: It’s possible the symptoms you described could be related to celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, ... -
Undiagnosed Need Advice
Scott Adams replied to Moogle39's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, gluten intolerance/sensitivity is definitely a real thing, and ~10% of people have it (about 1% have celiac disease). Here are some scientific studies to back it up: https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=NCWS&type=cms_records2&search_and_or=and -
Since you live in a house with gluten eaters you may want to look into gluten digesting enzymes like GliadinX (full disclosure they are a sponsor of this site). In many studies they have been shown to break down small amounts of Gluten, for example the amount you might get with cross-contamination. This might mitigate the problems of living with people who...

Undiagnosed Need Advice
Scott Adams replied to Moogle39's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Do you recall when you were tested whether or not you were on a gluten-free diet beforehand? If so that could be why the tests were negative. You do need to eat gluten daily for several weeks before taking tests for celiac disease. Also, were the tests zero, or were there antibodies that were measured? I ask because it could be the difference between... -
Is this normal?
Scott Adams replied to GayleD's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It’s normal for many who are gluten sensitive or have celiac disease. Even a small amount of gluten can trigger debilitating symptoms that can last days or longer. Also you need to be eating gluten regularly for several weeks before being tested for celiac disease. So if you have been gluten-free for a while your tests may end up false negative. Please r... -

Yes, as long as they are not somehow contaminated with gluten all vegetables should be safe and gluten-free. -

The problem with Gluten-Free Watchdog is that you have to pay to get the information, and any test they run may show that the product is Gluten-Free at the moment they test it. However, they cannot test a large enough samples of any product to ensure year around safety. They give you a false sense of security. Maybe the box on the shelf right next to the...

Gluten free frozen pizza
Scott Adams replied to Steve Elliott's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This article we did a while back might be helpful: -
Of course it's possible that there could have been a problem with a batch, but it's unlikely. Large companies tend to do a better, and not a worse job, of making sure that their products are gluten-free, once they decide to add "gluten-free" to their label, and this is due to their larger liability. However, her reaction could also could be related...
