  1. General Mills has spent millions to develop and patent technology that now may even keep their cereals under 10ppm, which is their goal. Although some claim they haven’t been doing this no evidence is ever offered to support their claims. I’ve said this many times, GM is a huge company with deep pockets. If law firms could simply but 100 boxes and if any...
  2. Here are some articles that might help...some are older but still helpful:
  3. Yes to everything above...and for pasta it is hard to beat Barilla or Schar pastas. Many people like Canyon Bakehouse and Three Bakers for sandwich breads. Costco sells many pre-made items, they also have GF bread and prepare frozen pizzas.
  4. It sounds like you had bad luck on the timing for your diagnosis, but at least you can now move towards improving your health. One of the sponsors of this site, The Gluten-Free Mall, is open and filling orders. Of course there is also Amazon and others. At this point it might be easier (and safer) to order online than to try to find things are the store...
  5. Welcome to the forum...please have a look at this recent article that summarizes where things are now: You can get involved to help make this happen.
  6. Generally yes, however I was at a friend’s house a few years ago and he served a packaged one that did contain wheat on the ingredient label, so always check to be safe.
  7. Raw Seafoods, Inc is initiating a limited voluntary recall of the following products: Product Name and PLU Code Code on Packaging Best By Date Wegmans Ginger Salmon, Oven Safe - 6474 7608 01/23/2021 7659 02/13/2021 Wegmans Salmon...
  8. I hope all is ok, let us know! This happened to me a few years back.
  9. Yesterday Costco in Santa Rosa, CA was completely sold out of gluten-free bread. I did find some at Trader Joe’s. We are now under Sonoma County’s “shelter on place” orders, but many of us are used to this due to the issues we’ve had with wild fires...still having power is a bonus for us! ?
  10. I just wanted to share this post I just received from an email group I'm in. It's from Benjamin Lebwohl, MD, MS, Director of Clinical Research, The Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University. They are setting up a group to study whether those with celiac disease may have worse outcomes with COVID-19 than those without CD, and he does mention our increased...
  11. If it makes you feel better the UK appears to be light years ahead of the USA in correctly following up on the recommendations to treat celiacs. As far as I know nobody here is recommending this vaccine for celiacs yet, even though the research supports it.
  12. Definitely try to get it biopsied for DH...to me it does look similar to DH blisters, but I'm not a dermatologist.
  13. Newly diagnosed celiacs should keep a food diary and they may have to avoid other foods until they heal. Once they heal, which can take up to 2 years or more, they may be able to add back many foods that were causing them issues...except gluten of course.
  14. The abdominal pains and swelling are certainly in line with celiac disease symptoms, and various aches, especially joint pain can be as well. That said, the right kidney/back area would not be very common, so be sure to discuss these symptoms with your doctor. Kidney stones can cause this, but the pain is typically severe. If you suspect celiac disease...
  15. PS - I am already talking to my doctor to get this vaccine...which I haven't done yet, but am now very motivated to do!
  16. So the research on diabetics having an increased risk of pneumonia is nearly identical to the research links I posted about the increased risk of pneumonia in celiac disease. The research for diabetes showing this higher risk also references bacterial pneumonia and not viral pneumonia. So if the research on diabetes indicates that diabetics are at higher...
  17. You should not worry about gluten contamination on fresh fruits and vegetables. If you are concerned about this, wash them before eating them.
  18. Perhaps go with certified gluten-free products when it comes to snacks and other processed foods, but sticking with whole foods that are naturally gluten-free and are not processed might be a better option. I doubt you need to join any group for this. Also Nima Sensor’s free app does share product testing results from hundreds of those who use t...
  19. ??? Nobody is trying to "spread fear" here. We are having a discussion about how celiacs might respond to this virus. Anyone at higher risk for pneumonia could have worse outcomes with this virus. This article makes it clear, and no differentiation is made between viral or bacterial, those at higher risk for pneumonia could have worse outcomes: https...
  20. Your eyelids look a bit like mine did when I was first diagnosed, and they told me it was blipharitis that caused it. After I first went gluten-free I could tell when I got gluten in my diet because my eyelids would flare up. After I healed and was gluten-free a couple of years this condition went away and has never come back, even on the rare occasions I...
  21. I'm not sure if you saw this thread, but it might be helpful:
  22. There is solid evidence that indicates that celiacs are at higher risk for pneumonia, and since this is the way covid-19 seems to be killing people, it certainly makes me wonder if this means that celiacs who get covid-19 might be more prone to end up in the ~20% of those who have worse outcomes:
  23. Dairy allergies can cause congestion. Have you had allergy tests done? Have you been screened for celiac disease? You don't need to go gluten-free unless you have celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity.
  24. @cyclinglady is correct here that if it doesn't include "wheat" as an allergen the modified food starch is made from corn, but I just want to point out that a survey was done years ago and there are only a handful of very large companies in the USA that make modified food starch, and 100% of it is made from corn. Only if the product is made outside the USA...
