  1. Well you have many symptoms that are consistent with celiac disease, and I recommend that if you got a celiac disease blood panel done to get the results of the test and share them with us. I wonder what your doctor might mean by “negative.” For example my daughter, who has an ~44-48% chance of having celiac disease because I and her grandmother hav...
  2. Well, I hate to say this but your doctor is incorrect because you can’t test for the antibodies unless one has been consuming gluten until the tests were taken, but you’ve figured this out anyway...I hope your health continues to improve!
  3. Unfortunately your doctor is correct and you would need to eat gluten daily, about 1 slice of bread, for about 6 weeks to get an accurate blood test result. They may then order a biopsy, and you would need to continue eating gluten until that test was also finished. The big question for you is, do you really need the official diagnosis that badly? It...
  4. Gluten-Free pet foods are getting more popular. Dogs and cats should not eat gluten...we just did a review on a GF dog food:
  5. Celiac.com 11/20/2020 - People on a gluten-free diet for celiac disease or other reasons have had a good run lately. Nabisco recently announced that gluten-free versions of its Oreo Gluten-Free cookies and Oreo Double Stuf Gluten-Free...
  6. Interesting, and you learn something new every day. I though you were asking about seltzer water, but should have searched it. This looks like a beer replacement type beverage. Even their site doesn't indicate any ingredients, but it is brewed, so malt makes sense: https://www.naturallight.com/our-beers/natural-light-seltzer.html
  7. Celiac.com 11/19/2020 - 2020 has been rough, and we all need a ray of sunshine. Thankfully, gluten-free cookie lovers are about to get a new BFF. For anyone wondering if Oreo cookies would ever be gluten-free, the answer is that, starting...
  8. If you are this sensitive it does make sense for you to be vigilant with your kitchen, pots, pans, tableware, pantry, etc. There are definitely many people who report getting cross contamination from these things. Of course it's important to try to keep your cool when discussing this with those you share these things with, but if they don't get it, or seem...
  9. Celiac.com 11/18/2020 - We get more than a few questions about holiday turkeys. One question we get a lot this time of year is: Which turkey brands are gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease? The good news is that, except...
  10. We don't delete accounts or posts, but are happy to anonymize everything so that nobody would know who you are.
  11. This list is good for the USA, and good for most things in the UK. I think the biggest differences would be "flavorings" and "natural flavorings" which may be different there, as well as just "starch." In the USA starch is always corn starch, but in the UK can be wheat I believe: This article is helpful as well:
  12. I would just dry them with my own clean dish towels, then put them away...obviously others should not borrow and use them.
  13. Some describe this "dizzy" symptom as vertigo, and I had this symptom as well. It let to panic attacks at times. The good news is that a few months after going gluten-free this symptom went away.
  14. Mainly because biopsy diagnosis has been considered the "gold standard" for the past 25+ years. This is changing, but slowly, and in 20 years biopsies to confirm celiac disease will likely be a think of the past for most celiacs.
  15. It can seem like a curse at first, but knowing about this so you can properly deal with it is actually a blessing. This article might be helpful:
  16. It's definitely something to be concerned about, and can be caused by celiac disease. You should definitely talk with your doctor about this, and consider getting screened for celiac disease, if you haven't already. Unfortunately getting screened would mean a gluten challenge, so you'd need to eat gluten daily for ~6 weeks before the tests are done.
  17. Nabisco has just announced new gluten-free versions of their Oreos which will come out in January 2021!!
  18. Celiac.com 11/04/2020 (updated 11/16/2020) - Oreo cookies were introduced in 1912, and have long been the top-selling cookie in the United States. We get a lot of questions from readers and newly diagnosed celiacs who want to know if Oreo...
  19. Celiac.com 11/16/2020 - Type 1 diabetes (T1D), is an autoimmune disease that affects about 1.6 million Americans. People with a family history of T1D face a 15 times higher risk of developing T1D than people without a family history. Up...
  20. As mentioned in the article, Kraft mentions ALL potential allergens, including wheat, on the label of its products: https://www.myfoodandfamily.com/article/000001443/frequently-asked-food-safety-questions Per its label, there is no reason to believe that Velveeta contain any gluten.
