I feel bad...
Scott Adams replied to Azur's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
In some people gluten sensitivity manifests itself primarily as a nerve disease affecting the brain and the nervous system. The good news is if you are in this category and you stay one hundred percent gluten-free, the symptoms should go away over time. Here are some articles that you might find helpful: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp... -
What makes a biopsy positive
Scott Adams replied to year's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The latest research indicates that children should be diagnosed using only blood tests and not via biopsy: https://www.news-medical.net/news/20200207/New-guidelines-recommend-no-biopsy-approach-for-childhood-celiac-disease-diagnosis.aspx I believe this will eventually be the way all celiacs are diagnosed, given all the issues that can arise using biopsies... -

Always call the restaurant and double check!
Scott Adams replied to agman00's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is good advice. Some restaurants offer gluten-free menus or mark items with “GF” on their regular menu, and I try to eat at such places. I still talk to the manager when I order to be sure.- 10 replies

I don't believe that this thread has gotten off topic in a way that has been unhelpful to @LAGurl0823, or to others who may find this thread at some later point, and evolved in a natural way to discuss enzymes that are widely available. If the OP had known more about AN-PEP before this happened she might have taken a few of them beforehand and had far...

The fact that we have several "major" support groups/centers in the USA is an issue itself, as they don't agree on everything and have a long history of strong disagreement on many things, so I would not wait around for them to make any decisions for or against AN-PEP anytime soon. There have been pushes in the past to unite the major support groups, but...

I don't think anyone here is recommending anything for celiacs other than a gluten-free diet...GliadinX, and as far as I know other enzymes that contain AN-PEP, are gluten-free. ? The idea, at least for me, has been finding something that can help me live the lifestyle that I prefer, which includes travelling and eating out, and not having to prepare...

Pure tea is gluten-free. I’m not sure if all tea bags or blends are, but pure tea is safe.

Testing dilemma
Scott Adams replied to PaulUK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
In your case it sounds like there is no need to torture yourself and get an actual diagnosis. Many people don’t realize that having a diagnosis of celiac disease will cause your private health insurance rates to skyrocket (at least in the USA) and make it more difficult and expensive for you to get life insurance, which I’ve experienced firsthand. Eating glu... -
Hopefully you were eating gluten regularly before you got the celiac disease blood test. Wait and see what the results are, and then you can consider your next steps. In the meantime, perhaps you can get on a list for an open appointment should someone cancel, or try to push them to move it up, as 3 months is a long time to suffer if you have DH.

We can't officially diagnose you from this info, but certainly the villi damage along with positive tests, even weak positive blood test results, together are probably a good sign that you're on the right track by going gluten-free. If your digestive issues resolve on the diet it would be a slam dunk, but you need to be certain that your diet is 100% gluten...

I'd never eat pasta in a restaurant...but I do take enzymes beforehand no matter how safe they tell me it is. They also use a lot of soy sauce so it may be a good idea for you to bring a bottle of gluten-free soy sauce if possible.

Plenty of Korean food is gluten-free but you may want to search for gluten-free restaurant cards in Korean. You may also want to bring enzymes like GliadinX (contains AN-PEP) just in case, and take them before each meal.

Pepperidge Farm Offers First-Ever Gluten-Free Cookie
Scott Adams commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
We don't have the nutrition facts, but will go out on a limb here and say that if you're at all worried about the mount of fat, sugar, carbs, etc., that these cookies might contain per serving, you probably should not be buying them. ?- 23 comments

Good question. It does look that way, which is a concern for many reasons.- 2 comments
