Celiac disease, IBD, or just IBS?
Scott Adams replied to Luella's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Anemia is a classic symptom of celiac disease, as is low BMI (see article below). Vitiligo could also have an association. In any case, getting a celiac disease blood screening would be the best way to find out, and you must continue to eat gluten daily until all tests are completed for the results to be accurate. Since there is no way for you to see a doctor... -
Awareness has certainly increased, as has the total number of people on a gluten-free diet, and most are on it due to self diagnosed gluten intolerance, or the perception that it is healthier. This has led to many restaurants, even large pizza chains, to add "gluten-free" items to their menu, even when the chance of cross contamination in those restaurants...

Lactoloose
Scott Adams replied to Mary Gee's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It looks like it is sold under several brand names: Cholac, Generlac, Consulose, Duphalac, so you'd need to research the specific brand to see if it is gluten-free. -

For the average person who doesn't have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity eating wheat daily should not affect their health. I would not view our diet as healthier for everyone because it doesn't include wheat, it's just healthier for us because we have an autoimmune condition. I think we definitely agree in this thread that untreated, non gluten...

Stomach pains
Scott Adams replied to Jo Ann Mac's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Vomiting is a very common symptom of celiac disease: Be sure to keep eating gluten until all tests for CD are completed or you may get false negative results. Hopefully you will be tested soon! -
So what you should know is that many people with celiac disease don't have symptoms, or have mild symptoms, but they still need to be gluten-free to avoid the risks associated with CD and continued gluten ingestion. Being nauseous is a common symptom of celiac disease, but not so much gluten allergy. It varies greatly how fast the reaction can...

Gluten free at Costco

It does look like they are gluten-free by ingredients, but not labelled as such: https://www.nutritionix.com/i/kirkland-signature/brats/58f85e491e0c07ee183e3b80 -
I'm not sure if you have access to seeing a dermatologist, but the best way to tell if it is dermatitis herpetiformis, which is the skin condition associated with celiac disease, would be to have a biopsy on one of the blisters. The second best way to tell would be a celiac disease blood screening, which would at least alert you to an issue with gliadin/gluten...

If your daughter has been gluten-free the biopsy and future blood test will likely be false negative now. You should follow the doctor’s recommendation, but read this and perhaps share it with the doc: -
It looks like they may be naturally gluten-free, but are not labelled GF: https://www.planters.com/product/00029000023864 Allergens Milk Ingredients DEGERMINATED YELLOW CORN MEAL, SOYBEAN AND/OR CORN AND/OR CANOLA OIL, DRIED CHEESE BLEND (WHEY [FROM MILK], SEMISOFT CHEESE [PASTEURIZED MILK, CHEESE CULTURE, SALT ENZYMES], SUNFLOWER OIL...

Oat fiber
Scott Adams replied to JackieD48's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is a tricky question...oats are often cross-contaminated with gluten unless they are labelled "gluten-free," which means they have been processed in a way to remove contaminants like wheat which is often grown in the same fields, or processed on the same equipment. Oat fiber would have the protein removed, so it would have very little of any kind...
