  1. Pure tomato juice is naturally gluten-free, but be sure to read the label of any commercial product that may contain additional ingredients.
  2. Be sure to keep eating gluten until the tests are done. Also, did you get another blood test for celiac disease? This should have been done before your biopsy.
  3. So you were diagnosed with celiac disease, but apparently were not following a gluten-free diet? You said: "...since I stopped following gluten-free," so I assume you've been eating gluten during this 20 years. If so, this would likely be the cause of your severe nausea, and hopefully you don't have cancer, but keep seeing your doctor until you find out....
  4. Actually all, or nearly all those with DH have celiac disease, and will test positive for antibodies. Some with DH don't , but many do. I did, and did have DH on one are on the top of my hand. After a severe sunburn from fishing on a lake at 7,000 ft. I never had DH there again--I don't recommend this method of treatment!
  5. Feel free to post the recipe in our recipe area...not a perfect fit, but close enough: https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/27-gluten-free-recipes-cooking-tips/
  6. Celiac.com 09/24/2020 - Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition in which eating wheat, rye, or barley triggers an adverse immune reaction in the gut. Celiac disease affects about one percent of the population. Diagnosis can be a long...
  7. Just out of curiosity, do you have your actual blood test results? I ask because my brother went through this. His doctor told him that "you don't have celiac disease and can eat gluten without concern," but a few months later started having serious issues. I asked him to show me the results and when we looked at them his antibodies were indeed elevated,...
  8. This article might be helpful for those interested in a low FODMAP diet:
  9. Almost all modern cheese making techniques have abandoned the randomness of growing cultures on bread or wheat in caves in favor of getting exactly the culture they want from labs. Entire businesses grow these cultures in labs to sell to the cheese industry, but many larger makers have their own in house labs now. The same is true for almost all wines, which...
  10. A shot in the dark here, but when you go gluten-free are you getting enough fiber? Are you replacing the typical wheat products with not so healthy starch-filled gluten-free versions? These things might cause what you described.
  11. This one is in the "Active Dry Yeast" category: https://www.amazon.com/Brewers-Yeast-Powder-Gluten-Free-Fragrance/dp/B07KNYN7F4
  12. In my 25 years of running this site I've never heard of any celiac who went gluten-free for a year, and had their pain increasing almost daily during that time, then have it go away after eating gluten again. I will say that if you have celiac disease you should definitely not be eating gluten--all science backs the fact that you need to be gluten-free to...
  13. Why not? It is brewer's yeast. I'll admit that I'm no expert on brewing root beer, however, I did spend ~3 years perfecting a malted sorghum/rice gluten-free beer back in the 90's.
  14. Understood, but I think Trader Joe's is citing 20 ppm because that is the FDA standard to be able to label a product gluten-free. It does not mean that Trader Joe's products actually contain that level of gluten. Hopefully you understand the difference. I was also very sick when I was diagnosed, but continue to eat Trader Joe's gluten-free products...
  15. Anthony's is gluten-free: https://www.amazon.com/Anthonys-Brewers-Yeast-1lbs-Gluten/dp/B076T966GS
  16. Many celiacs go for certified gluten-free products due to the higher standards, but the current FDA standard is considered by those in the scientific community to be perfectly safe for nearly all celiacs. Also, 20 ppm does not mean that the products actually contain that much gluten, this is a threshold where companies would have to recall a product should...

  18. Celiac.com 09/23/2020 - We get more than a few question about popcorn. Specifically, is popcorn gluten-free, and safe for people with celiac disease? The short answer is that, yes, popcorn is gluten-free. Corn is gluten-free. That means...
  19. From what I’ve heard about DH outbreaks, which can last weeks and be triggered by tiny amounts of gluten, I’m thinking give 2-3 months of this change a try.
  20. Although DH hasn't been linked to uncontaminated, pure oats, I wonder if eliminating oats for a time might help your DH improve? Some celiacs are also sensitive to certain types of oats, and also need to eliminate them to recover. Regarding the Bob's Red Mill grains, I do wonder if there could be some cross contamination. Have you tried any other gluten...
  21. Here is more info on solanine toxicity: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanine
  22. Rather than real beer, consider a beer like "Omission" which uses AN-PEP enzymes to remove all gluten. Some celiacs avoid this because it is made using barley, but others including myself have been drinking it for years without issues. There is also "beer" made without any wheat or barley ingredients, which is your safest bet. You might find this article...
  23. Excluding any gluten you may breathe in, not wearing a mask and breathing this dust in is very unhealthy for anyone, and could lead to serious health issues down the road. At the very least I would wear a proper dust mask that covers your nose and mouth. This alone should eliminate the possibility of accidentally ingesting small amounts of gluten. Eye protection...
