Kirkland brand tuna
Scott Adams replied to Sandra Pettigrew's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I’m not 100% sure if you mean Costco’s tuna or Walmart‘s, because in the subject you listed Kirkland, which is Costco and not Walmart. The tuna sold by Walmart is gluten-free: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-Chunk-Light-Tuna-in-Water-5-Oz/11965048 -
Maternal Celiac and Autism
Scott Adams replied to ErinLovesDogs's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
There seems to be a connect with celiac disease and a lot of autoimmune diseases, and it appears that those with Autism are 20 times more likely to have celiac disease: We have more studies on this here: /celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/autism-and-celiac-disease/ -
Hair dye
Scott Adams replied to Nikki Bowden's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I looked at one of their colors, black, and I do not see any ingredients that would contain gluten. It does look like they list the ingredients for each of their colors on their website: https://www.livecolour.com/our-products/intense-colour/099-deep-black -
If you are referring to our Safe list below, at the top of it we indicate: "This list focuses on safe gluten-free foods and ingredients within the USA and Canada." It would be too complex to try to include all countries, and most of our visitors are in the USA and Canada. In the USA, all maltodextrin is made from corn, and our labelling laws do...

Persistent Chemical Exposure Means Higher Celiac Disease Rates
Scott Adams commented on Scott Adams's article in Origins of Celiac Disease
I don't think it can be ruled out. This article reminded me of a high school job I had where I worked at a shop that build sprint car engines and had to wash parts with solvent for 1-2 hours a day...no gloves of course. I also wondered if all those solvents were not a trigger in my case.- 8 comments

This might be helpful, as we did update it recently:

I think if you make a meal using whole foods that are unprocessed, this should be easy, just do not add any salt/sodium to the meal and instead use spices or spice mixes to add flavor. I know this answer may not be what you're looking for, but something as simple as steamed broccoli, a baked potato, and a piece of salmon fried in a pan would likely fit the...

Severe leg pain
Scott Adams replied to Peter-b's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, it might be a good idea to get your vitamin levels checked. I have a similar issue with my right leg that is related to restless leg syndrome (RLS), and my B12 levels are actually high, but I've been supplementing B1 lately and it seems to help with the tingle/needle feeling, which, in my opinion, triggers the RLS, at least in my case. -
AN-PEP Enzymes
Scott Adams replied to DaveHike's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Note that although there is great research that shows AN-PEP can break down gluten in the stomach, before it reaches your intestines, it is not meant to be used to allow someone to cheat on their gluten-free diet. People with celiac disease must maintain a 100% gluten-free diet, and I say this even for those with gluten sensitivity. That said, the best... -
IBS
Scott Adams replied to Darla Mason's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Unless you have an allergy to cow's milk you should be able to try this out for a short time to determine if you can tolerate it. It is gluten-free, so I assume you are maintaining a gluten-free diet but also have an issue with cow's milk. It wasn't clear from your post exactly what your concerns and issues are. -
Celiac disease can manifest symptoms in many ways, and the most common ones show up in the gut, skin, and brain/nervous system. The only way to be really sure would be to get a blood test for this, but that would involve going back on gluten again daily for 4 to 6 weeks. If you are certain that your symptoms are much better without gluten, and can...

General info
Scott Adams replied to Zane Davis's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've definitely heard of many women who claimed that they began having symptoms of celiac disease once they got pregnant, although I've not heard this specifically regarding the taking, or stopping of taking, birth control pills. There are many known environmental triggers of celiac disease, including but not limited to certain viruses. It would not... -
I would contact your local food banks and churches that may offer food help. Also, you may want to contact the CDF www.celiac.org.
