  2. Just to clarify, the ppm is not measured per serving. Under 20 ppm does not have anything to do with serving size. At that tiny level a vast majority of celiacs will have no symptoms, even if they at more servings. Yes, if you eat 10 servings you will get more gluten if something was at 10 ppm than if you ate only 5 servings, however, you would also get a...
  3. Yes, I felt like I was in a moving elevator when I wasn’t.
  4. IF one bag had 10ppm gluten then your overall exposure would be only 10ppm, even if you ate the whole bag...it is not measured per serving then multiplied.
  5. If they are 100% gluten-free it can take anywhere for a few weeks to a few months for their tests to normalize. I would just add that the lower the number are to begin with, the faster it will likely occur, and the higher the numbers, the longer it could take.
  6. Many people need a formal diagnosis to help justify the difficulty of staying on a 100% gluten-free diet for life. Also, they will be able to more easily get follow up care such as blood tests and biopsies. However, for many who can stay gluten-free without the piece of paper that says "celiac disease," there are other considerations, for example private...
  7. Celiac.com 02/25/2020 - Sierra Soups of Fresno, Ca is recalling its 13 ounce packages of "Pasta e Fagioli" because the soup mix contains an individually wrapped package of pasta, which contains gluten. However outer packaging states the product is Gluten Free. People who have allergies to gluten run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction...

  14. In some people gluten sensitivity manifests itself primarily as a nerve disease affecting the brain and the nervous system. The good news is if you are in this category and you stay one hundred percent gluten-free, the symptoms should go away over time. 15. The latest research indicates that children should be diagnosed using only blood tests and not via biopsy: https://www.news-medical.net/news/20200207/New-guidelines-recommend-no-biopsy-approach-for-childhood-celiac-disease-diagnosis.aspx I believe this will eventually be the way all celiacs are diagnosed, given all the issues that can arise using biopsies...

  17. This is good advice. Some restaurants offer gluten-free menus or mark items with “GF” on their regular menu, and I try to eat at such places. I still talk to the manager when I order to be sure.

  20. I don't believe that this thread has gotten off topic in a way that has been unhelpful to @LAGurl0823, or to others who may find this thread at some later point, and evolved in a natural way to discuss enzymes that are widely available. If the OP had known more about AN-PEP before this happened she might have taken a few of them beforehand and had far...

  22. The fact that we have several "major" support groups/centers in the USA is an issue itself, as they don't agree on everything and have a long history of strong disagreement on many things, so I would not wait around for them to make any decisions for or against AN-PEP anytime soon. There have been pushes in the past to unite the major support groups, but...
  23. I don't think anyone here is recommending anything for celiacs other than a gluten-free diet...GliadinX, and as far as I know other enzymes that contain AN-PEP, are gluten-free. ? The idea, at least for me, has been finding something that can help me live the lifestyle that I prefer, which includes travelling and eating out, and not having to prepare...
  24. I do know that So Delicious claims to be gluten-free, but many ice creams, unfortunately, also use binders such as xanthan gum or guar gum, which can also produce reactions in some people. Do you recall any of the ingredients?
