  1. Actually I am a Dr......just the Phd kind. :D

A positive response to a gluten-free diet is not diagnostic of Celiac. But it does tell you that you are (at least) gluten intolerant. Either way, the cure is the same....a gluten-free diet.

You need ACTUAL NUMBERS on those tests. Your doctor just saying "normal" is not sufficient. I was told my thyroid was "normal" for nearly 12 years when in fact I was extremely hypothyroid. When I finally found out that the TSH ranges had changed years ago, I took that to my doctor...who said...hmmmm...maybe you are hypothyroid after all....I fired him and found a doctor that treats by symptoms and not labs.

If you can post actual numbers we can help you. Your TSH might be "normal" according to outdated lab values.

  2. Remember if the economy collapses you will not have electricity to cook those dried beans and rice. Are you good with a fire? Dont forget if the power is cut, there goes your stock of meats in the freezer. Better get a dehydrator and make some jerky.

I have lived in FL my whole life and nearly every year a Hurricane is heading straight for me. I dont go crazy stocking up on food. I have plenty of food in the house. I just get 10 gallon jugs of water, make sure I have some batteries and wait. I never get hit. And I am always thankful that I didnt go ape buying tons of food.

And that is what I am doing right now....waiting.....

If you really want to be prepared for a total economic disaster:

    Nut butters

    Dehydrated veggies

    Dehydrated fruit

Lentils (can be sprouted and dont need to be cooked)

Chia seeds, sunflower seeds, garbonzo beans, alfalfa seeds, buckwheat to sprout (all can be sprouted)

    Meat jerkies

Buy seeds to grow you own garden

    Jugs of clean water

Remember how long the depression was?......No amount of stocking could prepare us for that.

    So I dont panic.....I just wait....and see.....

  3. My menstrual cycle got longer after going gluten-free. So, yes, it can do things to your hormones. BUT being with a man who has strong pheromones can stimulate you to ovulate (even when it isnt mid cycle or 14 days before your period). You could even ovulate twice. It is powerful stuff in men's sweat. :P There has been some research on it.......

    I found it!!

I wouldnt be having unprotected sex if I were you unless you dont mind getting pregnant. It happened to me. I ovulated 7 days before my period instead of 14 when I was in the hot and heavy stage with my hubby (early in our relationship). A whole lot of sweat going on. We were being risky, but I thought I was safe because I kept track. We got pregnant. I couldnt carry the baby. It was a very horrifying situation for me.

Dont let this happen to you.

  4. First I will SECOND that if you are dx Celiac then you should NEVER take this product and knowingly eat gluten. NEVER. As for using it while eating out, it will not stop an auto-immune attack on your body. You might feel fine and safe, but the damage is being done silently.

You only "cheat" your health when you "cheat". It is kind like the snake handlers that play with Cobras and Coral Snakes. They say...if I get bitten....there is an antidote. Some who get bitten make it.....some dont......The moral of the story is DONT PLAY WITH POISONOUS SNAKES.

To a Celiac.....Gluten is still poison.....Glutenease or no. The moral of the story is DONT EAT GLUTEN.

It could be helpful for someone who is simply gluten intolerant. Tested Neg. on everything. Including Genetic testing. If you have had blood work, biopsy and genetic test that have come back negative, but you still react to gluten. Then this product might be of some help for CC situations. IMO

  5. Im not a fan of carob. It DOES NOT taste the same. :( Plus it is a legume which I am avoiding at present. All is not lost though....I have found yummies I can enjoy. :)

It is a neat thought though that something like chocolate can help people feel better. Just not me......

  6. I have happily gained 5 pounds back! :) I added SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) cookies to my diet. You need almond flour (Bob's or my fav. is Digestivewellness.com). The cookies are super easy to make, yummy and high calorie plus good nutrition. There are a variety of kinds. I made spice cookies this morning. :D

I also make almond/raspberry cookies, pound cake and others with the almond flour. These recipes are FREE:

I also bought a few SCD cookbooks that have some other great yummies.

I also eat avacado and walnuts.

    Hope this helps!

  7. Did they test your vit/mins? B12? Ferritin/Iron? Folic Acid? Calcium? Magnesium?

Was your thyroid tested? Those symptoms could be low thyroid which is prevalent in Celiacs.

    TSH

    Free T4

    Free T3

    And both antibodies

TSH should be under 3 per the new guidelines. But I was SEVERELY hypothyroid with a TSH of 2.8.

Do scour for CC issues. They are easy to get. I still find them now and again even though I am ANAL about my gluten-free. 100% gluten-free household. Also, it just takes time. For some up to 2 years to feel better.

    Hang in there!

  8. I will eat gluten-free products that are manufactured in a facility with wheat IF they say "good manufacturing practices used to prevent CC......" Personally my thinking is that products that are labeled gluten-free but do not specifically say that they are manufactured in a certified gluten free facility and do not have ANY other information are far more risky than the companies who are aware of CC and take precautions to avoid it.

I would push to get his son tested. Often children come up false negative. Enterolab is an option to see if he has malabsorption and gluten sensitivity. It does not dx Celiac, but can give vital clues. Can opt for the genetic tests as well.

  9. Im married. But I met my husband online (Match.com) 7 years ago. If I was dating again, I would place my ad with information about my dietary restrictions. Just put it out there up front.

Dates would be "non-eating" events for "initial getting to know"....coffee....bowling....whatever you enjoy. Then pic-nics are a good idea. And of course cooking for your date. And also going to restaurants I know can cater to me once the relationship is going well.

  10. Man....I love chocolate....but it doesnt love me. I can eat it and feel fine, but a day later SEVERE DEPRESSION. I quit eating it for a year or so and then try eating it again. The same result every time. I just ate some 3 weeks ago in chocolate chip cookies (gluten-free of course). And within 24 hours I was in the depression "pit". Rats!!

  11. Yes Celiacs can have blood in the stool. But it may be from another cause too.

IgA is just a test to see if she produces that antibody. She does. So any other tests that are performed hat use IgA will be accurate for her. Some people are deficient in this antibody and therefore a lot of tests are useless for them. It has nothing to do with Celiac as a stand alone test.

Elevated liver enzymes is common in Celiacs.

  12. HCL - Hydrochloric Acid was the first thing that came to my mind.

I went through this about 12 years ago. Stopped wanting meat. And when I ate it.....I really paid for it. So I became a vegetarian and then vegan. But what really turned me around was taking a HCL tab with each protein meal. Over time I started craving meat again and found I could eat it just fine with the HCL. Eventually I weened off of the HCL and my body took over again. Whole process took about 6 months for me.
