ShayFL's Achievements

  1. I have been eating healthy for the last 15 years. I do indulge in the rare cookie or slice of cake, but mostly I eat organic meats, organic eggs, organic nuts & seeds, organic veggies and organic fruits.

I cook a lot of soups, stir-frys and simple things like baked chicken or pot roast. I make a yummy grain free pound cake that I will eat now and again.

I stay completely away from packed gluten-free stuff!! It really isnt healthy (most of it) and I prefer my own cooking and baking anyway.

  2. Please note that it is EXTREMELY rare to have a false pos. on the blood, but EXTREMELY common to have a false neg. on biopsy. Biopsy is an art. If the GI didnt take the samples from the right places (damage can be patchy), then it will come back neg. PLUS 5 weeks IS enough time for enough healing to have taken place for a false neg.

IMO you are Celiac and should stay on the gluten-free diet. Retest in 6 months to a year and see those numbers come DOWN.

You can also ask for genetic testing for a little more information.

  3. Hi Mary,

Sorry to hear you are having so many issues right now. The gastro is a tough one. Basically your nerves arent working right. Have they tested you for B-12 deficiency???

Yes or no, you should go and buy a good sublingual methylcobalmin. Jarrow is good. It goes under your tongue so you do not even have to digest it. Use the 5000. Perfectly safe as anything your body doesnt need will get moved through to your urine.

I would also encourage you to try acupuncture as it is very good for nerve issues and organs that arent working right (i.e. your stomach). Acupressure is also good. You can buy a book on acupressure and do it on yourself.

You might also look into Seacure or Immunical which are both pre-digested proteins supplements that help rebuild your intestines. Seacure is fish based and Immunical is whey based (should be lactose free).

And as whacky as this might sound....you should "talk to your gut". Relax and give it a nice massage. Perhaps put a warm hot pad on it. Tell it how much you love it and you want it to get better. Ask it questions. See if any revelations surface. Believe it or not, our bodies "talk to us". Yours needs some attention. Please try very hard not to be "angry" at your body. It is doing the best it can. I was amazed at how my emotional life and my body changed when I started to learn to love and care for myself. When I had a pain instead of saying "stupid body", I would catch myself and say "I know you have this pain for a reason. I love you for trying to tell me something. I will do everything I can to heal you. I love you my beautiful body". At first it made me cry to say these things because I had spent so many years hating my body. But now I have the greatest love and respect for my body. Every inch of it, scars, warts and all......

A good book that REALLY changed me is by Louise Hay called "You Can Heal Your Life".

    Wishing you well.

    Shay

  4. Check my siggy for my current diet.

I have been gluten-free since April....nearly 4 months. I have seen some improvements such as: Migraine relief, some scaly skin areas have finally healed, neuropathy is mildly improved, vertigo is mildly improved. My trips to the bathroom are greatly reduced.

BUT....I am not well yet. I did accidently gluten myself a few weeks ago and I had severe vertigo for 2 days and a lesser migraine a few days after that.

I have cut out soooooo many things that I am done cutting and have decided to focus on "healing" myself (the root of the problem) and just eating what I can for now.

Now I am on a probiotic made by Pure Encapsulations (no fillers or toxic stearates) and it is smooth sailing......The reflux is getting better already.

I am also taking a product called "Intestive" which is made by the SeaCure people. SeaCure is a pre-digested fish protein that is supposed to heal the gut...repair damage...and get rid of leaky gut.

I am taking PepZin GI which is a patented Zinc + Carnosine product that has been proven in Japan to heal the stomach lining.

I am taking probiotics (Lactobaccilus Sporogens) to crowd out any bad guys.

    George's Aloe Juice.

    Biotin 10 mg daily.

And I am 2 weeks into a parasite cleanse using Renew Life Paragon. No issues with it, but I did have 24 hours of liquid spew (TMI). I must have killed something.

ALSO GETTING RID OF ALL SUPPLEMENTS WITH TOXIC FILLERS: Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate, etc. I have found good replacements for all that had that junk in it except my Multi. Pure Encapsulations are great. ALL are gluten free and most are free of all common allergens including soy and corn. Only a few have soy and corn and they state that on the label if they do. No toxic fillers. Some of my supplements were already good. I also nixed the "rice flour" fillers too. I dont want to ingest rice everyday at every meal.

I actually feel pretty good lately.

Another thing I am doing to help me get better is that I am "getting out" more. For the past 5 years, I have only had one decent friend and she is always busy so I dont see her much. And then dinner parties with my Hubby's colleagues. It hasnt been enough. I work from home in a lonely art studio all day. Have been for 5 years and the isolation is unbearable now. So I put some ads on Craig's list and have already made a few new friends. Getting out and meeting new people for coffee. Just being an integrated human being again. Even if I dont feel great, I need to do this! And I am starting a book club to meet once a month. I need real friends in the real world. I believe it will be key to my healing.

I have NO family close by either and I am not a churchgoer. No woman is an island.

So this is my new healing routine. I will keep ya'll posted on my progress!!

Oh and I switched my iron supplements to Floradix (gluten-free) and Liver Tabs. The Solgar Gentle Iron was doing nothing for me.

But my Vitamin D is in normal range now.

  5. Renew didnt work for me. I am having the best luck with what I am doing now. It has more than one product. I am at 3 weeks and it has AMAZINGLY helped get rid of my BLOAT and my stools are well formed for the first time in my life. Digestion is great! gluten-free was not enough. My goals is to actually HEAL. This is what is helping me:

I am on a probiotic made by Pure Encapsulations (no fillers or toxic stearates) (Lactobaccilus Sporogens) + a Lacto/Bifidum combo by GI Pro

1 with breakfast and 1 with dinner

    George's Aloe Juice 4 oz a day.

    Biotin 10 mg daily.

  6. My neuro only makes me itch in the morning sometimes...right when I wake up.

My sensations vary. Sometimes it feels like little spiders are crawling all over me. Sometimes it is numbness and tingling or just one or the other. Every once in awhile I get pain in my hands and/or feet. A hot burning pain. When my hands and/or feet are really hot or cold, my brain will interpret as pain.

Today it is in my face a bit. Numbness.

I have addressed ALL deficiencies. So I am just waiting for me to be gluten-free and grain free long enough for my nerves to actually heal.

One thing I bought years ago that has helped with my neuro A LOT is called a Rebuilder. It is pricey, but it makes me feel so much better. I use it everyday for 30 minutes and it totally relaxes me and helps with the numbness/tingling.

I just started benfotamine a week ago.

    Always healing!!

  7. Celiac often leads to Thyroid and anemia. Ask around here. Show of hands and most of us have these very issues. There are no "false positives" on the blood. Your Doctor is absolutely right. You are Celiac and you MUST eat gluten-free.

Biopsy has a high rate of false negatives because damage can be spotty. If they dont take samples from damaged areas, it wont show. Plus if you were eating gluten-free even for a few weeks before biopsy it can affect the results.

    You are Celiac.

gluten-free will not only heal your insides....it can help heal your thyroid too. Many Celiacs find they can lower their thyroid meds after they heal. Some can get off of them all together.

    Welcome.

  8. No one is trying to be mean in here. We are all trying to help. Often the first response isnt the best one, but comes from good hearts.

Protective gear might be the ticket. I wear gloves when I paint now. I resisted them for sooooo long, but I DO NOT want all of the paint chemicals I use everyday going into my skin. I love to paint, but it isnt worth getting sick over. I also wear a mask when I use certain texture mediums and such because they give off fumes.

I have not given up painting or my studio, but I take A LOT Of precautions. :)

  9. You have pretty much described my diet. :) I lost 5 lbs when I went gluten-free. Pounds I could not afford to lose. I have gained those back. :D

Guess I will have to be patient.....

    Once again...awesome for you!

And yes, body fat does affect estrogen. All of those old laddies trying to get rid of their "pooch" dont realize it is the only thing left producing Estrogen (which we need in small amounts even when we are old).
