  1. Look at the dates on these topics, always. I buy Mission Tortillas at Kroger and they are plainly marked Gluten Free. .Maybe this is something new
  2. Thanks. I already have the KA flour since it is my regular flour. This sounds good and I will try it next time I make pizza. I have no idea why this is underlining itself. I am not good at this computer stuff.
  3. Sounds good, but I'm pretty sure my family won't go for the cauliflower.
  4. Tonight I made a pizza using Kroger Simple gluten free pizza crust. I was awful!!!! What do y'all use for pizza crust? I have used gluten-free tortillas, and they are pretty good. What do you use?
  5. Read the labels. If there is no wheat, rye or barley it should be OK.I don't know what kind of beans you mean, but I frequently use Bush's red beans and their Grillin' Beans with no problem.
  6. LilyR, thank goodness bourbon is gluten free. Feel free to have a mint julep, Manhattan, or a plain old bourbon and water (my favorite, with a squeeze of lemon). The mint used in drinks is usually spearmint or peppermint. You may have one of the hybrid mints like lemon balm, lime mint or even chocolate mint. Before diagnosis I was a dedicated beer drinker...
  7. Blakes also makes a chicken pot pie that is good. It comes in individual and family size. My near-by health food store has closed and I am searching for food now. They used to carry a gluten free frozen egg roll that was great. Anyone know the brand name? I have forgotten and don't know what to look for.
  8. Unless you are going to drink the nail polish, why would that matter? Celiac only kicks in when gluten is in the digestive system. Contact with the skin (or nails) will not cause a Celiac reaction.
  9. If your chest feels tight and you have trouble breathing, please see your doctor soon. That could well be something much more serious than allergy problems.
  10. Unless a person is really super sensitive, this should not be a problem. Many foods that say "gluten free" on the label also produce gluten containing foods on the same equipment. If it is thoroughly cleaned between runs, there is not a problem. One reason many gluten free foods do not list that on the label is that the law requires frequent testing to show...
  11. I will try all that I can find. My choices here (Jackson, MS) are limited. I guess I will try ordering.
  12. Thanks. I bought a loaf this afternoon. Will try it with dinner.
  13. HAS Udi changed? I used to like it, but recently it is awful. What bread do y'all like for regular use... sandwiches, toast, etc.?
  14. That is also my understanding. I can see concern about lip products, but who eats deodorant? Shampoo? I close my mouth in the shower.
  15. What is Delphi Celiac forum? Where can I find it? I am always on the look-out for new resources.
  16. I am not familiar with that. read the ingredient list. If there is no wheat, rye, barley or oats, it should be gluten free. You can also call the company.
  17. I didn't know where to put this, but the word needs to get out. I just got home from 2 weeks in the hospital due to a very rare but serious reaction to the blood pressure medicine Benicar. This reaction only happens to people who have Celiac Disease. If you are taking Benicar and start throwing up and having severe diarrhea, immediately stop the Benicar...
  18. Does anyone have a good cheese straw recipe? My old one does not work with gluten-free flour.
  19. My church (Episcopalian) allows gluten-free communion wafers. I am the only one (I think) who requires them. The priest hands it to me on a linen napkin used only for that purpose. I do not take the wine, as many people dip their wafers in the chalice. I agree with PinkyGirl... don't believe that God would want to make you sick by receiving communion.
  20. My teenaged grand daughters (not gluten free) actually request Chebe rolls when I feed them. They love them, as I do. Totally easy and can be made ahead and frozen. That way, I can just take out what I need and keep the rest on hand.
  21. I used to use Pacific gluten-free cream of celery in recipes, but that has been discontinued. I still love their mushroom and chicken for recipes, but what can I use for cream of celery?
  22. I also need a gluten-free bread recipe, preferably one I can use with a bread machine. I was diagnosed 12 years ago and have gotten by with Udi's bread, but the only store in my town that carried it does not any more. The other brands I have tried just are pretty much awful.
  23. Parmesan chips are super easy and soooo good. Just grate a bunch of parmesan cheese (not that junk in a green can!) and make little piles on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper and pat it down with your fingers.. Bake at about 400 until the cheese melts. When it cools, peel it off the paper and eat it. It should be really crunchy. Sometimes I add...
  24. At my local Five Guys, I told the counter guy that I had to avoid gluten for medical reasons. I was ordering a burger with no bun and some fries. He yelled back "Allergy Alert!" and every line cook immediately changed gloves and cleaned their work space. Will I go back? You bet I will!
  25. The thing about gluten and Celiac is that you have to swallow the gluten for it to affect you. The molecule is too large to pass through your skin. Don't lick anything in your sewing room. (Sorry.Joke) As someone said earlier, it can take several days for a gluten reaction to occur. Perhaps you ate something the day before going into your sewing room. Sounds...
