  2. I just came back from Vegas and did lots of research before I went. You can check out my blog for multiple posts: you can find my blog link if you check out my profile. Have a great trip!
  3. For the sugar cookie mix, I highly suggest using gluten free mama sugar cookie mix. :-) Best of luck.
  4. Lifestyle Coach Cindy Swan Says No to Cheating on the gluten-free Diet The Sacramento area chapter of the Celiac Sprue Association, welcomes Cindy Swan, to its September 20, 2009 support group meeting, held at St. Marks United Methodist...
  5. Here's a recipe I use from time to time to make taco seasoning from scratch. * 2 teaspoons dehydrated onion * 1 teaspoon chili powder * 1/2 teaspoon cayenne or to taste * 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano * 1 teaspoon salt * 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch * 1 teaspoon instant garlic * 1 teaspoon cumin Mix it all with 1/2 cup of water & add it to a pound...
  6. I good place to start is urbanspoon. They now have a gluten free section: Open Original Shared Link
  7. I'm heading to the Mendocino coast area later this summer and was curious if anyone has had any positive dining experiences in the Mendocino area? I know that the Inn at School House is gluten free aware for their guests but not sure what else is available. Thanks for your help in advance.
  8. Paul Martin's American Bistro advertises itself as being gluten free friendly, so I thought I would try it out. It's located inside a newer plaza across from CarMax in Roseville, CA. Everything is made fresh so they can alter any menu item for you to make it gluten free. I usually am quite skeptical of this, but we tried it out and my husband and I were...
  9. I love bionaturae. It's pretty much the only kind of pasta I buy now.
  10. Being gluten intolerant is just part of who she is. I'm in my mid-20's and my husband and I have been together for 7+ yrs, married for 2 months. I have celiac; he does not. For a long time we ate separate meals and there was double the meal prep and double the dishes, but slowly he has converted to being gluten free when we're together. Sure he eats things...
  11. I'm not sure where you're coming from or how long you're going to be in this area, but if you can I would suggest making a day trip to Sacramento. You could check out Old Town Sac which has a lot of great shops, and then hit the Gluten Free Specialty, an all gluten-free market at 2612 J Street. They have about 1,500-2,000 gluten-free products, and some...
  12. What kind of items do they have on the menu? A wide selection? Did you get sick at all or where they super careful? Please share whatever you can about your dining experience at Lemon Grass. Thanks
  13. You can't always believe the adds on craigslist; they try to offer a deal to get you to come check it out and that deal has magically disappeared when you mention it to them. Natomas is near downtown without the downtown living. There are a few decent complexes, including Medici, but an apartment will run you around $900+. Midtown and East Sacramento are...
  14. I'm so sorry you had a horrible experience. Hopefully your next trip will be a lot more successful.
  15. You have to be careful about sushi rice, because it usually is made with a type of vinegar that has gluten in it. When I go out for sushi I order steamed rice instead of sushi rice, nothing deep fried, or with imitation crab, and no sauces, and I've never had any problems when following those guidelines.
  16. I would highly suggest West Steak House or King's Fish House in Carlsbad, CA, slightly north of San Diego. In Santa Cruz there's a great sushi place, Mobo, and they're willing to accommodate. They even have gluten-free soy sauce on the tables. In the bay area Zadin is really good, and Amici's Pizza serves my fav gluten-free pizza. Then in the greater Sacramento...
  17. I've never had these but I'm sure they're good. Although you've got to try WOW cookies, from Washington. You can't even tell they're gluten-free according to my non-gluten-free fiance.
  18. I live in Northern California and I find that it's slowly becoming easier and easier to be gluten free. There's a great store downtown, The Gluten Free Specialty, this is 100% gluten-free and they'll order anything you want, if they don't already have it in stock. You can check out various cities on urbanspoon, as they have a gluten-free section. There are...
  19. I'm going to Lake Tahoe in June and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions where to eat: formal, informal; whatever. I just need options. Thanks
  20. I'm sorry to say that I've been to the Cambria area before and I had no luck with dining options either. If you haven't already booked your trip I might suggest The Inn at School House Creek, in Mendocino, CA. Still coastal, just farther north. The owner of the inn sent me a letter regarding their new food-allergy friendly dining options. You can check...
  21. I tried out Z Pizza and I have to say I was disappointed. It was quite pricey, rather small, and too thin. It couldn't hold it's toppings. I've found several other places around me to serve better gluten-free pizza. I did see however their is a Pizza Fusion in Glen Allen, VA. You should check them out; their pizza is better.
  22. Do you know if the all natural chapstick brand is gluten free?
  23. Thanks for the update! it's nice to go out to Outback from time to time.
  24. I would highly recommend Carol Fenster's 1,000 gluten-free recipes, as it is currently my favorite cookbook. I also read on and saw you like chili, for which I have an awesome recipe. You should check out my blog for the chili recipe and other fabulous recipes I've posted, as well as suggestions on mixes/gluten-free products that could make your life easier...
