I use a lot of the Bush beans. You need to avoid any of their Chili beans though. Bush Beans will state on the website which ones are gluten-free.

Thanks for the new list. mmm

Thanks so much! I think most of my stuff is on there. I don't understand the Lame Ad thing either and couldn't figure out what I had done wrong. I hadn't put a website on there and I certainly wasn't selling anything.
Oh well, I'm just happy you sent me the website and that I can use most everything.

Is there a list of certain words to avoid so we don't get the lame advertisement tag?
My previous post was about A.R.B.O.N.N.E.
Thanks.

Ok, I'm trying this again to see if it works and doesn't come up Lame Advertisement.
Just wondering if anyone have a current list of A.R.B.O.N.N.E. products. I got a basket of products from a charity auction that I would like to use. The only list I could find is from 2006. It's quite extensive so I'm hoping all my products will be on it.
Thanks.

Patti isn't me but she wishes she was
Sorry, I'm BRAIN dead!!!! What I meant was for the TOPPING take 1 stick of butter, 1 cup gluten-free flour and 1 cup sugar (I'm like Patti- I like to do 1/2 cup brown sugar and a 1/2 cup regular sugar) and use the knives to "slice" it up till it's crumbly.
Ok, thought I missed something there. As you can probably tell, I need really good directions when cooking or baking. I'm trying though! This sounds so good and easy. Thanks for sharing Beverly/Patti. I like the idea of 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 regular.

Chile sounds good! Easiest fall recipe I can think of- Apple crisp!
Apple crisp: For apple crisp, all I do is cut up some apples (enough for the people you are serving) and sprinkle sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg on them and place them in a baking pan. Then for the top, I take a stick of butter and a cup of rice flour (more if your crisp is bigger) in a seperate bowl. Take two knives and slice until the sugar and butter are combined to form a crumbly top. Bake at 325 until the apples are a bit bubbly, serve with vanilla ice cream.
Where you write" take two knives and slice until the sugar and butter are combined to form a crumbly top", do we add more sugar in the bowl with the butter and flour?

Jason,
I'm so sorry that you had to go through so many stressful things. Like everyone mentioned before, one or more of these stressful times could have been the trigger. You already seem to have a handle on this. For me, the eating out is the toughest. You sound like you doing great with this. Keep reading the forum. There is so much info here, it's unbelievable. Also, more and more restaurants, even if they don't have a gluten-free menu, at least know what you are talking about.

Thanks for posting actual products!

Everyone is different on this question. There was another thread about this not too long ago.
I will eat something that is made in the same facility that also has wheat, rye, barley or oats. I will not eat something that is manufactured on the same line or equipment as wheat, rye, barley or oats.
Just because it is made on the same equipment as wheat does not mean it has gluten. I just don't want to take the risk.

Yep, headaches, migraines, anxiety and nausea. It was pretty much my last hope in going to her. I'm so glad I did. Most people couldn't believe there were no doctors in my own area that could help me. Well, when I had gone to my eye doctor, and opthamologist, and mentioned the dizziness, she told me it was definitely not because of my eyes.
Unless you've been dizzy (as you have) for a period of time, a person can't imagine how it could feel to have it every single day. It limits you socially and in everything you do.

I had this too. One morning, I turned over in bed and everything started spinning. It was awful. I went to two ENT's, my family doctor, a neurologist and an eye doctor. No one could figure out what it was. I had two CT scans and an MRI. I was like this for a year.
Then my sister told me about this doctor in Michigan (I live in Arizona). She gave me her website (vsofb.com). I looked it over and it talked about this doctor that treats patients with vertical heterophoria. I had never heard of it. The more I read, the more it sounded like me. I called the doctor and she called me back and spoke to me for at least 30 minutes. She faxed me over a questionnaire and had me fill it out. I sent it back and she call me back that night. She also told me about another doctor in Houston that does what she does.
I thought, what the hell. I've been basically homebound for a year. I was too scared to drive as I would get really dizzy, especially when driving at high speeds. When I would stop, everything would spin! It was horrid.
I went to see her and she diagnosed me with vertical heterophoria. The fix was to give me eyeglasses with prisms in them. She examined me all day testing me with different prisms. She is an optometrist. My dad has been in the eye business forever and couldn't believe I was travelling all the way to Michigan to see her. I'm so glad I did, because I do not have the dizziness I had.
This is a medical condition and can be billed to your insurance if she is on your plan. Their office is very professional and very caring.
When people ask me why I wear glasses now, I tell them what happened. Of course, they have no idea what I'm talking about.

glutenfreeinchicago,
Everyone heals differently and at a different rate. I had extreme fatigue. I took 2-3 hour naps each day and was still tired. I ended up having my thyroid tested and found that I was hypothyroid. Also, my ferritin level was really low. I know now that many people with celiac also have thyroid problems.
You may want to get tested. I had a TSH test, a free T3 test and a free T4 test. Many also get the antibodies test as well. I would never have been diagnosed if I had just had the TSH test done - it was my T3 that was the problem.
There are some thyroid threads out there and many on the forum that know so much more about this. I'm sure someone will chime in and help you. There is a great website that has been recommended: stopthethyroidmadness.com. You may want to check it out.

I take Renew Life as well. They have different strengths so depends on what you want. I take the Flora Smart which is one of the stronger ones. Like sickchick, I take on an empty stomach. However, I called the manufacturer regarding another supplement and also asked about the probiotics to see how long I would have to wait to eat. They told me I really didn't have to wait because of the coating on the pills. I still take on an empty stomach, but it does have me wonder now.
I have been taking probiotics for years, even before celiac dx (hubby is very into all kinds of different supplements) and was told back then it had to be on an empty stomach. Sooo, don't really know. Maybe I'll call again to see if they give me a different answer.
Anyway, probiotics are really good to take.

It's not too late! I was diagnosed this year at age 47. I have probably had it since my teens. Migraines, dizziness, some tummy stuff, etc. I've been gluten free for about 7 months now. I do feel better but know I'm not totally healed yet. Just take it slow, there is a lot of information to take in and it can be overwhelming at first.

Thanks dlp52 and celiac-mommy for responding and the suggestions. I will definitely try the samples and get one in the intensive since I have a few brown spots to cover. Did y'all buy brushes from them too? I have some from BE, but I think the big brush is a little rough. I'm guessing this works like BE where you do a foundation, cover up and something to set it. New makeup - yea! I told my sister about this too. She couldn't use BE - said it irritated her rosacea.
I'm excited to order, but a little nervous I could end up looking like a clown.
I wish they would add a whole separate category on this forum combining makeup, cleansers, lotions - girly stuff! hint hint

Irish Daveyboy, that spongecake looks scrumptious! Now I have to go get super-fine sugar.
-
Yes, what Tim says. For those of you who had dentists that checked, would you mind posting the brands they are using that are gluten free? Thanks.
-
Thank you all for the advice.
Purple - I need to get a new whisk - old one is stainless steel, but I think flour can get stuck in there. I think that is a good idea though.
Rice Guy, I did get rid of the old sifter and a whole lot of other baking supplies - thanks for the reminder though. Actually they are in a box in the garage. I'm slowly replacing eveything.
Irish Daveyboy, your bread looks so good. I'm not sure what Sultanas are - some kind of nut?
Julieabove - I think I'll keep in the fridge to last a little while longer. Even though hubby is the only one who eats it, it goes very fast.
Motherofjibril - my first thought on the sifting was that it would change the amount per cup. I guess I'll have to play with it and see what happens.

What great news! I also suffer from allergies. I used to take Flonase and Fexofenodrine (generic Allegra). Now I only have to take the Fexofenodrine. I'm so happy to be off the nasal spray so I know how your husband feels. It's so great to open the windows and let the fresh air in!

For cleanser I use Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser. For lotion I use Desert Essence Almond (it says gluten free on the tube) - there are several scents. I tried the Vanilla Chai but it was too strong for me. For facial moisturizer I use MyChelle Deep Repair Cream (I buy it at Sprouts). A member, Ohsotired, recommended it. I called and they verified as gluten free.

I have the dark circles too and have had them since I was little. I had heard they were from allergies, which I have (ragweed and such, not food), but now I'm wondering if they are from low iron which I have. Interesting. Also have puffines under my eyes. I saw an ad for Garnier with this new product that is supposed to relieve the puffiness. Not sure if it's gluten-free. I'm going to call and see.

I'm so sorry you got sick, especially when you think you are drinking a safe food. I just started drinking lattes again - tummy couldn't handle it at first and it wasn't just the milk, the coffee bothered me. Now I have to give it up again!
I guess I'll just make my own at home, but it would be nice to be able to grab one when I'm out. Not worth the risk right now.

I agree with Mtndog. I will eat foods manufactured in the same facility, but not on shared equipment. (at least not on purpose)
Help! Can't Find Fexofenidine!

I take Fexofenadine 180 mg Tabs manufactured by Dr. Reddy's. I get it at Walgreens. They have verified via e-mail that this product is gluten-free. If you do a search, I attached the e-mail from Dr. Reddy's on a previous thread.
