  1. Hi Georgie. I've been advised on another forum (thyroid forum) that cortisol is in the crapper. I unfortunately am a smoker, and drink coffee all day - both of which actually raise cortisol - so I can only wonder what cortisol level is truly at. I've also been advised that Free T3 and Free T4 are both low, but I really need to address adrenals prior...
  2. Hey gang! I haven't been too active in participating here lately (been reading, but very little posting) due to extreme fatigue and feeling VERY run down. I have a TON of hypothyroid symptoms, as well as hypoadrenal symptoms, and I just got some labwork back. I know that I need to treat my adrenals first, but I'm looking for input specifically on my...
  3. There's a dedicated gluten free place in Austin, called the Wildwood Art Cafe. All kinds of yummy goodness on their menu! Open Original Shared Link Sorry I can't help with San Anton or Hill Country, but I hope you have a wonderful trip!
  4. Just wanted to add that if your thyroid was checked, make sure the doc ran more than just your TSH. That number is worthless for pretty much anything other than pituitary issues. You might also check into having other hormones tested. Too much testosterone can cause your hair to fall out.
  5. Larry, email Laura and see if she'll honor that coupon in some way. She's still doing 'special order' type baking, just not running the actual bistro anymore.
  6. I am sad, as well, that Laura's has closed. But I don't believe she's down for the count. She's still offering baked goods on a special order basis, and I truly believe if she can find a way to come back, she will.
  7. Peanut butter gives me stomach aches, even if I only eat a tiny bit. I'm ok with a handful of peanuts though. But I also have serious problems with gluten. So it's possible it's both. Hope you find your answers soon!
  8. I've had issues too. The Honey Nut Chex were ok at first. Then after a while I started noticing low grade stomach discomfort and a slight difference in uhm....bathroom activity. Didn't even think about it being the chex. Cinnamon Chex are NO good for me; not for breakfast anyway. I get a terrible sugar high/crash from them. I thought the Chocolate...
  9. LISTEN to your acupuncturist and your ND. Have you had any testing done for adrenal fatigue? It sounds like you have two practitioners that know what they're talking about. You might want to explore that further!
  10. In case you don't have "the list", here it is: Total IgA tTg IgA Gliadin AB IgG Gliadin AB IgA *tTg IgG EMA It looks like your doc only ran the one with the star by it. Honestly I don't remember which individual test is the most "sensitive" but to get a true picture, they really need to run them all together. Had you already gone gluten free...
  11. At the Boston's I visit in McKinney, TX, they have told me that the gluten free crust is prepared away from everything else, they are cooked on separate/designated gluten free pans, and that yes, they are baked in the same oven, but not while any regular pizzas are in there. I can see how super-sensitive types wouldn't want to take the risk. I'm not super...
  12. How frustrating! I agree that it sounds like it's time for a new doctor! You should call them back and tell them you want them to send you a paper copy of the lab results in the mail (or swing by and pick it up if you're close). That should have the ranges listed on it. Is that the only test your doctor ran to check for Celiac? There are five altogether...
  13. Tabasco - you might want to check out these links, just to see if any of the other symptoms fit you. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Good luck!
  14. This doctor sounds like a keeper!!! I'm so glad it went so well! After you mentioned that what you were likely suffering from was "gluten intolerance" I was shocked to see that he helped you come up with a GAME PLAN! Hang on to this doc for sure! Keep up with the gluten free diet and see how it goes. He's right about trying a dairy elimination too...
  15. I have high homocysteine levels too. It was discovered during a blood test for a clotting disorder (that might be something you want to talk to your doctor about?), and it was also discovered that I have mutated MTHFR genes. So, yes, I have a clotting disorder but a "very mild one" according to the person that analyzed my labs. I take low dose aspirin...
  16. If you can't get your hands on your past bloodwork before your appointment, ask Dr. S to have them faxed over, and that way they'll be in your file. You might have to sign a HIPPA notice for the other doc's office if you haven't already. But definitely get your hands on them, for your own records and so you can see them with your own eyes. Good luck...
  17. Thanks for sharing! I'd love to know what you think of him after your appointment. I do agree, though, with his interest in Celiac he's likely to know more than the average GI doc. My GI doc didn't know much about Celiac before I came along. He's been very open minded about everything I've talked to him about and actually done research on his own, but...
  18. Hi jabberwife! I'm curious who this doctor is......would you mind sharing? (You can PM me if you like.) I like my current GI, but would love to see someone that is more knowledgeable about Celiac! The symptoms you mention (dry skin, fatigue, brain fog) sound like they could be thyroid or adrenal related. Have you had your thyroid checked? Or it could...
  19. GFinDC - I wish I could say she did something, but seriously all I got was a referral to a rheumy. I would've welcomed an ultrasound, as it would have been something proactive. *sigh* I'm glad you found something that seems to be helping you; I wouldn't want to have a thyroidectomy either unless it was absolutely necessary. From the reading I've...
  20. Hey woman! Glad to see you back here! Sent you an email, but can't PM you. Think you have to have X number of posts before you can send/receive PMs now. Holler at me any time!
  21. UPDATE: I finally saw my PCP today, and of course the lump has gone down. When I started this thread it was almost almond size, and today it's more like the size of a pea. However something new started in the last couple of days. I had a difficult night the other night, and got almost no sleep, because every time my pillow or blanket touched my neck...

    ARCHIVED Boston's

I've tried two kinds of pizza from Boston's and they were both VERY good.
  24. I was going to suggest Open Original Shared Link, but it doesn't look like they have one in German. Here are the languages they do have: English, Chinese, French, Greek, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese Have fun on your trip!
  25. I didn't catch this thread the first time around, so I just tried this last night, and WOW! I modified the recipe in the first post, and used all brown rice flour and left out the cocoa powder. It was just a tiny bit dry, so next time I'll nuke it for a little less time. It smelled kind of 'eggy' but the taste reminded me of cornbread! I can totally see...
