About Me
I'm one of the few native Floridians left or so I like to say! I've lived my life by and in the water. I just recently got married to my amazing husband who is unbelievably supportive of my gluten free lifestyle. He continues to modify his recipes to make them safe and to find new and healthy recipes for us both to enjoy. I love to scuba dive, read, go to concerts near and far, spend time with my family and cook. I've been a foodie since I was a child and when I found out that I could no longer consume Gluten I was devastated. I was sick for about a year after having my gal bladder removed. I asked the specialist to test me for Celiac Disease and he refused and insisted that it was something else. I decided to eliminate gluten from my diet on my own and two days later I was back to feeling like my old self. I have not returned to the specialists since and have been mainly gluten free ever since. I broke the rules more than once and have decided that the physical and more importantly for me, the emotional side effects were not worth 10 minutes of gluten filled indulgence. Now I laugh when I see the bags of "Vital Gluten" at the grocery store. I've been working on becoming healthier and have lost about 100 lbs over the past few years. I have lost 50 lbs alone since I gave up gluten.
I'm hoping to make some new friends that are in the same situation. I am excited to be on this new journey and feeling back to my old self again, but every now and then, even the most chipper of us need a little boost!
