  1. They work great in baking! You can use quail eggs in place of chicken eggs in most anything. Typically a large chicken egg measures 1/4 cup. I have found that 5-6 of my quail eggs equals one large chicken egg. The only way I haven't fixed them is soft boiled because it would be hard to get them scooped out. My only complaint is that they can be a booger...
  2. Makes sense. I'll blame it on sleep deprivation and after effects from surgery. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
  3. Thanks, it worked but only on ones I haven't read that are dark blue.
  4. It might be a good idea to ask for the full celiac panel to be redone. So many people do not get the whole thing done. These tests include: total IgA, IgA/IgG tTG, IgA EMA, IgG/IgA DGP. Also when you have your scope you need to make sure the endoscopist takes a minimum of 8-10 samples from the small bowel alone(in different spots). They will biopsy the...
  5. It would be nice if you could jump to the next new post in a topic that you have already read or posted in instead of having to sort through the whole thing again. Maybe there is a new way, and I just haven't figured it out yet.
  6. I've read unscientific evidence that people who are allergic to chicken eggs can eat quail eggs. I personally don't know of anyone though. I would ask an allergist about that before trying them. That said, quail eggs are very healthy for you. I raise quail for meat and eggs and eat them on a regular basis. I just love them but I don't have an allergy...
  7. Thanks everyone. Still doing pretty good. I was sore last night but it might have had something to do with falling out of the desk chair.
  8. Not before diagnosis. But a year later I developed it. Long story short I discovered I was reacting to gluten free oat cross contamination in gluten free products. I went on prescription creon and ate very clean and in three months time it cleared up. If I get CC's from gluten now or oat CC then it comes back. I just had my gallbladder removed on...
  9. Had my gallbladder surgery on Wednesday. Overall everything went well. I did have a vasal vagal reaction to IV morphine in recovery that caused my blood pressure to go as low as 85/31. So that kept me in recovery longer than expected. They had to wait until my BP went up to at least 100 to send me back to same day surgery. I was pretty nauseated all...

    ARCHIVED Dr. Visit..positive Experience

Had my surgery on Wednesday. The surgery itself went well. I remember waking up in recovery and was in quite a bit of pain. They gave me IV morphine. Next I remember sitting up and them giving me some pills to swallow. After that I became very nauseated, sweating profusly and really not feeling well. Then I hear the nurse say lay her down because my...

    ARCHIVED Dr. Visit..positive Experience

Thanks Gemini for the nice thoughts. I have to be in the same day surgery center at 7:40 tomorrow morning. I still have the migraine lingering but it's a lot better now. My mom is going with me in the morning along with my husband. My dad is in charge of getting the kids up and off to school. That should be interesting. He asked my youngest son if he...
  12. Hummus, nut butters, tuna salad, chicken salad or lettuce wraps with a couple of slices of ham/turkey or any other lunch meat with roasted red peppers, onions and a little cilantro mayo. Just a few suggestions that I ate when I was doing South beach.
  13. I bought some but haven't tried it yet. Will soon.

    ARCHIVED Dr. Visit..positive Experience

Well, just two more days to go. I'm sitting here having discomfort from it now and a migraine that I've had since yesterday afternoon. The migraine is what is bothering me the most and I can't take a darn thing for it.

    ARCHIVED Allergist ?

We found the allergist very helpful for our oldest son. He kept chronic sinus infections and I strongly suspected allergies to be at the root of the problem. He had skin testing and tested positive for dust mites, cockroaches, and a whole slew of fall weeds. He was also tested for the most common allergenic foods and was negative on those. He started...
  16. After my 7 year old was diagnosed at 5 I developed a case of the guilties. He had had issues as a baby that in hindsite were celiac symptoms. It was because of my gluten lite diet(I didn't realize it at the time and I didn't even know anything about celiac) when I was breastfeeding him, that I eventually found out about my gluten problem. All I knew is...
  17. When they checked your thyroid, did they do the thyroid antibody tests? If you have autoimmune thyroid problems or other autoimmune conditions the tTG can be elevated in those as well. This year is the first time I have had COMPLETELY negative blood work(it had been 2.5 years since my last tests). Initially I only had the IgA tTg done at my time of...
  18. Yes, ask for him to be retested! My youngest son tested negative at the time of my diagnosis. Two years later he had positive blood work. My oldest son has never tested positive on blood work and had has been tested annually since my diagnosis. He even had a negative scope. Because of the huge improvements I had seen in his little brother after going...
  19. I still miss crusty bread and nobake cookies(aka novacks) but I'm also severely gluten free oat intolerant.
  20. Same here as Darn210 I cook pretty much the same things as I did before. There were a few modifications to ingredients/products etc. but they enjoy a very varied diet. Fresh fruits, veggies, pasta, Brazilian cheese rolls, cookies, cakes, muffins, Udi's bread and pizza crusts, etc. You get the picture. I make a big batch of baked goods, pancakes and waffles...
  21. I offer to share with my husband all the time. At home any baked goods and meals are all gluten free so he is welcome to help himself anytime. When I buy something special for the kids and myself I still will offer, but a lot of the time he says "no thanks, you keep it for you guys I can have something else." So as Tarnalberry suggested he isn't respecting...
  22. Sounds like my oldest son. He has been blood tested annually since my diagnosis 4 years ago. Every time blood work VERY negative. It wasn't until 6 months after my youngest son tested positive for celiac that I began rethinking the whole thing with my oldest. Last year I did take him to a GI and she did a scope/biopsy. It was completely normal also....
  23. Two weeks very well may not be long enough back on gluten to give you accurate results, especially if you were gluten free prior for any length of time. It is generally accepted that one has to consume gluten (appx. 2-3 slices of bread or equivilent per day) for 3 months. To have the best chance of accurate testing. If you have now exhausted all your...
  24. Yes his improvements can very well be from his elimination of gluten. My youngest son wasn't diagnosed until he was 5 almost 6. He did get screened after I was diagnosed (he was 3 almost 4) and was negative and didn't seem to have any symptoms at that time so he continued with a normal diet. He did have issues up until he was almost 3 with reflux and...
  25. Both my boys will have meltdowns and behavior issues when they are tired, overstimulated or getting sick especially from strep. My oldest also has mood issues when his allergies are bothering him. There is also the same issues when my youngest son gets a bad glutening. Sometimes it is hard to tell. My oldest doesn't have behavior issues when he is...
