  1. good on you

I am on a month and getting back on the gluten-free thing even though i guess it wont help me feel better maybe a bit less tired but still

4 times more likely to die with C so yeh, when i go off the rails I google scary stuff and try to get committed again.

I find once the ball is rolling either way i am alright if i get thru a week I am good for 3-6mths if I have a bad day it turns into a bad month

  2. If you click on the link below you will go to a very interesting story from Australia which describes the celiac vaccine which is now being trialled. If you click on video you will be able to see the story which was screened during the news here.

  3. Been of my gluten-free diet for a week now, indulging in any normal food I feel like. I am returning tommorow as my symptoms are fairly limited but I have been naturally slipping more, and a touch of dirhea.

Anyone I will go back on for 4-6mths + now.

At some point this rebellion builds up though, sick of policing food, sick of not feeling normal, sick of being stared at while eating bunless burger, sick fo REGULATION of my life. So hence I go crazy eating all my former favourite foods, then after a week or so I worry about damage I am doing and I hop back on the wagon

How will this affect me? Doc told me he has diagnosed someone 88 with celiac so this guy had had a long life with it not regulating diet at all. I ask because I am travelling oseas for the first time soon, and am most likely not going to be missing out on the taste of the world due to this disease. I will follow it up by 4-6mths each side gluten free though.

My last test result said I had fully recovered besides slightly raised anti bodies, that was in 3mths of GR so yeh someone talk to me, I am sure other people must do this as well, maybe not on this site but three people I have met all in RL at all times say they dumped the diet somewhat

Is a week off really going to do much? :(<_<

  4. Yeh i am getting the hang of it need to get more fruit and vegs in my diet though.

If i understand right alot of the probs with coeliac is due to nutritional deficiency which I no longer have so I am good about this.

Positive I only had celiac for 2-5 mths before diagnosis too at 21. So im in good set if I am still kicing at 80 this will be easier to managae i guess.

There is a vaccine in stage 3 process at the Melbourne hospital atm things will get better in 20 yrs or so i hope

  5. Hello! If anyone remembers this thread:

    https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...mp;#entry519602

I was not only Unhappycoeliac but angry one to. Anyone after reaching my wits end of the 'am i doing good' and im i doing bad scenario I vowed to get a blood test. Which I did and I got the results just now and basically everything is healed on well on the way

B12.VitD, folate, thyroid function, calcium, other stuff I have no idea about

Where all basically stuffed as of July last year when I was diagnosed.

I can happily report these are all now normal and I am pumped. My doctor was quite happy and mentioned it shows I had been making an effort I am effectively nutritionally healed of this disease and continuation of the gluten free diet will see the anti bodies go down.

That is the bad the anti bodies where both over 130 at diagnosis and now one is

40 and is 53. They both however need to be under 20.

I am very happy I am healed and most definitely continuing a gluten free diet.

For the battlers out there I have struggled immensely i love food, i suck at controlling temptation and in social situations and other situations I have simply given in. The important thing is getting back on the horse though.

I have maybe had gluten up to 5-8 times (minuscule amounts) in the last 3 months but have managed to recover nutritionally. Once the belt is tightened I will also get the anti bodies down.

Anyone I also coined up my new motto while passing time in the doctors surgery and that is

"if Nutritionally sound coeliac represents just a diet, if not it is a disease"

Anyway all of my 70 or so posts have been mostly getting help and being angry so im glad to post some good news. I think everyone here is really tolerant and i appreciate the mods always moving around my threads and stuff :)

My doctors words on my stuff ups where 'the blood test represent mostly an adheral to the gluten free diet over a long period of time.

And it hasn't been that long even 3 mths ago I was still in shambles not even knowing lollies etc had gluten and actively eating them. Done ranting now I am really pleased. In 3 mths i go back for another test.

I ironically two of my liver enzymes are above what they should be and I have to get a cholesterol test that is the bad news to much fatty diet the doctor suspects

  6. Hello people updating this rant:

Yes today has been fair sh*t.

I have hungry jacks *made without bun, fries and drink are clean.

I have specifally gluten free pizza rolls gluten-free on the box

I have apples broc and carrot

AND i have loose stool I mean seriously wtf. There is no way I could have got gluten today

I am fairly sure I have been clean since the 14th even then it was a tiny amount. I mean I dont get it. But i WILL i hope.

I am going to the doctor fri arvo its maybe been 9mths since diagnosis might ask for another blood test need to know whats going on, have no idea whether i am doing good or bad I strongly suspect bad though, although not quite as bad as a friend of a friend who apprently orders pizzas all the time non gluten-free ha.

The only good thing was I completed 50 mins of weight training with heavy weights for me 60-70 pnds and not pins and needles.

I am going to the doctor fri he is not ignorant but not hugely knowledagble I am gonna push for the blood test and one of two things I feell likely to happen A give up B get encouraged

I just wanna know but I dont know whats going on... i cant tell by 'how i feel'

  7. Im so close to giving up the time and money this bad disease costs me to get a bit of it sprinkled on a chip and i get doggone sick

    the microwave wasn't clean

lollies have fkn wheat in them?

the chips were thought to be gluten free but weren't

5-6 days were I felt like poop but been strictly gluten free

Of course these turn of events always happen when I am on a run for far since being diagnosed a year I have not got over 10 days without accidental glutening putiong me back to square one and wasting all previous efforts and I am sick oif it. Alot of people here seem somewhat privileged financially secure buy new pans new food etc etc but for college student this is impossible I am lucky to have food sometimes let alone specially made and cooked with my own utensils :(

Being gluten free has done f all for me. All it has achieved has cost me time money and enjoyment. I am going for blood test sometime  this week and if there is not improvement in my blood results from my constant effort i am ditching these gluten free business and ignoring the disease.

I know it doesn't seem like anyone is following this path and being irrationally but I know at least 4 whop refuse to be tested for celiac or ignore it completely

If the blood tests are not better I be so mad :( i break my computer

  8. I just notice a few long strands are coming lose, I am only 22 though this is the problem, not when I brush but if i am sweating alot or give a tug long hairs come out easily ;)

been trying to be gluten free it is mostly going good. None on my mums side are bald and my dad wasnt so surely it cant be male pattern baldness at 22?

Hell if I have celiacs and baldness before im 25 there is no god <_<

  9. I hear alot but I am not sure definitely. Last year I was low in folate can that be supplemented with a pill? Vitamin D which I have gone through 60 tablets for and now take subliminally and I have started a sublingal b12 now I am worried about the nerve system.

Generally what is the pecking order of vitamins a celiac is likely to supplment I know the B12 and D is important what else? I currently dont get any other of the B vitas I dont think so I am thinking about buying some of them

  10. Was not that pleasant I must report talk about feel like an outcast.

-10 of my friends ordering beers while i sip some white wine, yes a shot to my maniless right there.

-A bunless burger which became inspired amazing curiosity and large laughs from all involved.

I dislike meal times with my mates. It is my problem I guess at the end of the day but it sucks being such close friends for 8 years my friends say to me whatever they want and vice versa with this open relationship coeliac really becomes annoying :(

very close to giving up today, I am making my friends sound evil and patronizing which is totally unture its probably more just me feeling left out cos of food and beer

    rant over

  11. just updating this symptoms occur when:

-Extreme tiredness I am talking close to 40 hrs of no sleep and workouts in there too

-Today while playing cricket... sorta like baseball for the americans. I gave one almighty swing of the bat ended up actually hiting the ground and got pins and needles like crazy from the impact, they were quick to subside though

And where they are most prevalent: carrying the shopping home... I like coke so I may have a two litres bottom in say two bags of shopping with assorted other stuff but on the walk home which is not one mile it is a km or so I inevitably get pins and needles and must switch hands. for them to go away..

    Could it just be fatigue?

I hadnt played cricket ina while and I have hit alot of things hard with a bat before and NEVER broken out in pins and needles worried :(;):o <_ :( <

edit: No disrespect Trents but I am 22 diagnosed at 21 not quite gluten free yet. I really hope what I have may not be related to what you have because I havent even hiot 30 and I am having health problems galore it depresses me and makes me angry at the same time
