  5. Years ago one of our favorite DJs proclaimed March 21st as "Steak and something not appropriate for a public forum Day". I remember it more because it is my best childhood bud's b-day....I let the hubs think it is all about him So tonight there will be RibEyes on the BBQ, Scalloped Potatoes (baked sweet spud for me) and Asparagus. Still like...

  7. That is early for you...feel better Addie!
  8. you get a salt water generator to add between the pump/filter and the pool intake -- cost about 170 for an above ground pool -- ours is 15' wide and 5' deep -- water is 4.5' deep...so it would work with any of the smaller round vinyl pools -- not sure what is entailed for an inground pool...but have swum in some wonderful salt water pools on hubs job sites...
  9. laura - boo! I hate when that happens -- I always make them use the left hand for surgery so I don't have to fuss with the tubes as much to do things in the hospital -- of course if you are a leftie...give them your right dinner tonight is bbq chicken, sweet potato fries and salad (with avocado for the men as I felt bad for not dragging them home the...
  10. Yep...avocado is probably my number one. My family and friends miss it too because I always made guacamole for every celebration and more often during the season...used to even tote avocados back east to make it for my NY cousins
  11. Ok...that fit took me by surprise...over it now. ...don't overdo those histamines too much as it could cause allergic type reaction. Rest up, take care of the man and let us know how it goes on Thursday
  12. Oh I'm sorry Addie...my hubs wasn't a cat person...but my Shelby changed his mind...her sudden loss continues to be tough on me and the boys...and even dear hubby whom she converted. Give your man a hug from us...so very hard to lose one of our furry family members. And you feeling like crap makes it harder...but do enjoy the cheese...not really clear...
  13. Yum....and you'll fit right in here...glad to have you Dinner is shrimp scampi here...with pasta for the men, zu-noodles for me. (Note for Scott..I call my hubs and young adult sons..men... to keep it simple ...husband is gluten-free at home to support me and the boys - one of which is diagnosed celiac, the other remains non-celiac gluten intolerant...
  14. Welcome Scott! All cooking fools are most welcome here -- no wolves here - although they are one of my favorite animals What we are cooking is the basis so there are lots of wonderful ideas for gluten-free and other intolerance cooking. We also like to have fun and sometimes simply act like we are sitting around in the kitchen while one of us...
  15. So I tried to postpone St. Patty's Dinner and I just couldn't do it....so there is a grocery store corned beef brisket in the crock while we wait for the one I brine myself Also, went to the beer store and picked up two yummy gluten-free beer options for the hubs and eldest son. Dinner tonight will be Corned Beef and Cabbage -- chicken for me -...
  16. Yes it is....I have one son who didn't like pb and honey...so I tried huckleberry honey one time and he loved it....in general he stuck with plain pb with no j for most of his life. Oh...I have added honey to homemade almond butter...I did like that
  17. Two surgeries in our little family in one day -- will keep you both in thoughts and prayers for skilled surgeon's hands along with SPEEDY recoveries
  18. Honey is actually better for you than Agave...unfortunately I just don't like the flavor -- had to overcome my extreme lifelong dislike of all things coconut and wasn't able to do it with honey although I do use it to bake some things and I used to mix it with jam for my kids lunches
  19. thought I'd add this cute idea I saw on FB for kid parties -- heck even adults would find it fun:
  20. For me....I've been limiting my sugar to fruit for nearly two years (mostly because things that use sugar have many other ingredients I cannot eat) ... oh I do use agave with coconut milk to make chocolate mousse for myself which is yummy. My husband has no dietary restrictions, but lives gluten-free in our home to make things safe and simple for me and...

  23. Thanks IHeart There is a lovely rich vanilla cake about to be decorated for St. Patty's Day on my kitchen counter....but sadly I completely forgot to purchase a brisket to get it bathing in brine so my guys will get a cake...but will have to take a raincheck on their corned beef this year -- going to run out to pick one up soon so that I can at least...
