  1. Good Luck on Wednesday! Hopeful that you will get some solid answers from the allergist
  2. Welcome Emily! With celiac antibody tests there really is no difference between "weak positive" and positive. Many labs still list the results in degrees, but positive is simply positive. I had mild positives on each test in the celiac panel with complete villious atrophy and I've seen folks with huge antibody numbers that had much more mild intestinal...
  3. We will likely be hearing this response from many companies since the law in the US was finalized making 20 ppm (parts per million) the limit for something to be designated gluten-free. Items from zero ppm up to 20 ppm fall in the safe zone for the majority of people with Celiac Disease. I haven't drank Captain's in some time, but did so safely...
  4. Failed every challenge these past three years -- but am starting to get some things back in moderation: fresh cheeses, butter, cream, corn and rice thus far -- of course this is since I started with mast cell medications (histamine and mast cell blockers), so I'm not the best example.
  5. Have had to explain Mast Cell Activation to a several people in my life since the combo of meds I'm on has finally brought consistent "vertical time" back into my life. Found a fun way to explain it -- we have "Hyperactive Mast Cells", rather than having too many which is called Mastocytosis. And the system the body normally uses to keep mast cells in...
  6. Good to hear you had a great, safe trip
  7. lol...everyone ate the peep...except Mom, who asked me with the cutest face "Do I have to eat the Peep?" I think I found where my dislike of the little dudes started
  8. I agree with -- it may get better with time. Our extended family and friends took a bit of educating to the fact that "just a little gluten" was indeed slowly killing me. I think the last time I had someone treat me the way you were treated yesterday was at about a year and half gluten-free -- not counting new acquaintances -- I don't give a flying...
  9. Thanks Colleen! I do the tealight in the cake all the time...so freaking simple and makes the cake look fantastic...first time ever was for my Bunco Pals Christmas Party...let me see if I can find. here it is: https://scontent-a-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash2/t1.0-9/380824_10150616657148574_1450736359_n.webp and this is why nobody ever complains...
  10. Addie....So glad you had a blast at your first Con -- take it easy today -- all that excitement is tough on the system Happy Easter Everyone! Just put the beginning of a triple layer lemon cake in the oven -- going to fill with lemon curd and top with lemon cream cheese frosting along with....wait for it....Lemonade Peeps! I had never purchased...
  11. Good Morning Ami! It is still very early for you. Take these first few months to learn how to live completely gluten free - ingesting mostly whole foods and limiting even the labeled gluten free items to treats, rather than staples. Removing dairy for the first 3-6 months is a good idea. Be sure to trial it down the road as most folks are able to...
  12. Yum...Seabass...need to send hubs to our local fishmonger after I read Irish's post. Tonight will be on the cheap -- got eight teens battling out at D&D so: Baked Garlic Chicken Thighs and Drumsticks Mashed Potatoes Frozen Peas Felt like I won the lotto this morning -- ran up the street to a market that I buy meat from when it's on special...
  13. The transition to living completely gluten-free is not easy for anyone - celiac or NCGS. Here is one of the best places to start: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ Study that and then ask any questions you may have in the coming days...there are lots of members here that can help ease the transition. Hang in there
  14. Here is the problem. Not enough is known about Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity. Until very recently doctors did not acknowledge its existence....and many still do not. We have four diagnosed celiacs in my family and two with NCGS -- all of us had severe inflammation while eating gluten.
  15. Welcome Amy!!! If you haven't taken a look...check out the Newbie 101 thread Kareng recommended -- it really is a very great place to start. Don't worry about the title of your thread, it can be changed by the Moderators if this thread stays live -- or you could simply start a new thread with a different title, which may get the attention of more...
  16. Have a blast Addie! Don't forget the camera if your phone doesn't have one...lots of fun peeps to see. Last Summer the kid saw Robin propose to Poison Ivy surrounded by the rest of the DC gang! Fun stuff. Dinner tonight is meatloaf for the men...prepared by hubs. Had one of my silly Idiopathic Anaphylaxis episodes yesterday afternoon -- have learned...
  17. This is a plain as it gets...hand this list to your doctor -- or not. Good luck to you
  18. It is not a matter of one being "better" than the other. Different bodies produce different levels of antibodies. There is not one perfect celiac antibody test. The DGP - both IgA and IgG based were not available when you were last tested. It is best to have all of the celiac antibody panel done, not just one -- especially because you had one positive...
  19. Replied in your other thread. Love this news even more than the last Happy Easter to you as well
  20. Great report! Glad things are mostly normal and generally improving! Finding a doctor that will listen is priceless -- they don't need to know it all -- they need to be open to considering all possibilities and now you have one!!!! Thanks for sharing
  21. You are welcome...always glad to help...took me forever to learn out to manage my own medical tests. Great news that six months has improved those nutrient numbers...they will continue to improve. As for the weight...you and your body have been through a major change these past months -- go easy on yourself -- do try to take a short walk each day...
  22. sounds like we'll have a great party...going to have to work on that freezing hell over deal or I'll be toast down there  pun intended.
