  1. tiptoeing in here...I know I'm newer to the silly thread...but gotta say it just looks wrong to not have Triticus Toxicumb's Elephant Avatar as the original poster of the thread. Also think His Royal Highness Tom should remain on the thrown for the first hundred pages of Tickle 2.0 and that a link to the orignial thread should be place in the title of...
  2. I have never eaten a meal in this Los Angeles you speak of -- however, I am very familiar with their freeways Tonight is steak! Small bribe to encourage my men to be cooperative when I wake up in Drill Sgt mode tomorrow morn'. Spinach Salad with Egg, Onion & Bacon for men Pumpkin Ginger Soup for me. I am thankful today that my health is...
  3. All native Californians in this house - turkey enchiladas and turkey tacos are post Thanksgiving day musts. Once in awhile a turkey pot pie slips into the mix in between Mexican fare - oh and turkey sandwiches with cranberry Turkey and waffles will likely be called up to the permanent Turkey Day roster after this year!
  4. gravy with waffles??? I think my California Men may bow down to you - next breaky for dinner will include gravy btb...I suggested we utilize the brown sugar'd candied bacon for early Christmas morning and got swept off my feet by my 17 year old - many thanks
  5. My men are having breakfast for dinner - waffles, eggs and hmmm...what is that lovely smell wafting from my kitchen??? For me - my first attempt at apple breadlike substance without using eggs -- and for the first time ever in all my years of cooking I used too much salt -- maybe the eggs absorbed any previous oversalting -- along with encore chicken...
  6. And shoveling snow may be good exercise, but we will get plenty when I drag you all out on the slopes -- ummm -- this snow you speak of will be resort adjacent, right? Dinner for my men is nightshade free chicken enchiladas (cream/garlic sauce), refried beans from scratch and salad. Endless spaghetti squash encores for me - basil spinach garlic almond...
  7. Time to kick someone's ass. Went to go back thru copies of Living Without to look for the missing Red Velvet recipe and found that my dear hubby has tossed this year's collection - now I'm not saying there are not things worth tossing laying about - but why does he always pick things that piss me off? I think we'll designate him as our dishwasher after...
  8. I've been gluten-free for three and half years and grain free for over a year. While I still have many problems from long undiagnosed Celiac Disease - lower back pain/sciatica is completely gone. I'd been seeing a chiropractor followed by a sports chiropractor most of my adult life each time my lower back pain was severe. He believed this pain was caused...
  9. Nope...Trapper John was on duty before BJ - although I am a touch froggy today
  10. Wow a quad - high fives all around! 50% made me snort my nettle tea - unfortunately it is more sad than funny. Here's hoping we find a few more Hawkeyes and TJs rather than Frank Burns out there
  11. no, no, no repeat after me "OH Yes! I am eating baaaacon"
  12. Ahhhhhh,,,bacon -- I think I'd be shot if I stopped the flow of bacon to my men! Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and snacks - there is no bad time for BACON "Bibity Bopity Baaacon!"
  13. Janet's post made me curious as we love to doctor gluten-free things to replicate our family's favorites...what recipes did you use Campbell's Golden Mushroom in? We can always use more ideas for the crock pot I believe Sauterne Wine is equivalent to "white cooking wine". I'd try doctoring gluten-free cream of mushroom with a touch of cooking wine...
  14. We use 'Pacific Natural Foods' Cream of Mushroom and Cream of Celery in several recipes and have used 'Gluten Free Cafe' cream soups too.
  15. carrot fries - brilliant I've been making oodles of butternut squash fries which I prefer over sweet potato fries...I'm off to turn carrots into fries - Thanks!
  16. No reason to worry yet. There are many very good doctors and knowledge regarding Celiac Disease is slowly improving. The best thing you can do is be prepared. Bring a written list of your symptoms that can possibly be Celiac Disease or Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance. I find it comforting to have my list of symptoms and all the questions I have thought...
  17. I think someone already mentioned how nightshades (tomoato, potato, peppers and eggplant) are connected to joint pain. When you mentioned eating a lot of beans and rice I thought I'd mention again. Are there spices in either? Peppers of all types fresh or dried spice all cause severe joint pain in me. Any salsa with the meal -- tomato with pepper and...
  18. You mention allergy testing. Have you had a full celiac blood panel? I agree you should remove all gluten for at least three months to see if your joint pain improves, but think it wise that you get the full celiac panel done first. Once you remove gluten you lose your best opportunity for accurate celiac blood work. With several possible symptoms...
  19. Sounds like a good plan to stick with the diet that is making you feel good and not challenge anything for at least six months. I am 47 too - the constipation definitely got worse the 5-10 years before I was diagnosed at 43. I have no doubt that undiagnosed celiac / gluten ingestion was the problem for me all along. Hang in there - sounds like...
  20. Raw food diet can be tough on a healing gut. I'm not suggesting it is the cause of the constipation - just it can be tough for your body to handle all raw vegies right now. In your first post you said between constipation and gluten symptoms - are other symptoms improving on your current diet?
  21. p.s. Also noticed that you went gluten-free in March of this year...it is possible that you simply haven't had enough time to heal. Depending on the damage to your intestines it can take a very long time to heal completely.
  22. Hi Sara- You are not alone in having chronic constipation rather than diarrhea with celiac. I've battled different degrees of constipation my entire life. My celiac doctor was the first doctor that ever wanted to have a detailed discussion with regard to constipation - very frustrating to get docs to understand. Many doctors still don't know that...
  23. I had this happen as a child and totally forgot about until it happened once about a month ago. Sure hope it doesn't happen again, very disturbing.
  24. Perhaps you need to be seriously gluten free for a longer period of time to have your gut heal and allow you to process other foods better? If that doesn't bring improvement I'd suggest strict elimination diet/symptom log to identify any food intolerance you may have. It can be confusing trying to weed out other intolerance one at a time.
  25. roast chicken, boiled cabbage and grated parmesean cheese baked into chips + choc-choc chip ice cream cake with carmel topping!
