My neice is going to be two in about two weeks and she only wieghs 20lbs. She has been having diahrrea in the mornings for a while now and has been exhibiting some aggresive tendencies. My sister wants to get her tested and i told her i would get on this forum and gain some insight from those with more experience Both me and my sister (neice's mother) have been diagnosed with Celiac disease and so we have had our suspicions for a while now. So i guess my question is: are these symptoms typical for other children with celiac disease? and what steps should be aken for a child to get tested? (an endoscopy seems so invasive for such a small person

i have an idea for an easy meal. i havent frozen it but ihave refridgerated and that works fine. but they're so easy its not necessary.
make a hamburger patty and season to your tastes
place it on a sheet of foil, on top of a thin layer of onion (if you like oion taste)
add raw veggies (potatoes, carrots, green beans, corn, squash...whatever you like)
added salt and pepper)
then you can take one of your foil wrapped dinners and bake for 45 minutes at 400 degrees. i have increased the temp to 450 and it doesn't do anything to it. you just want to check it at about 30-40 minutes to make sure it gets done enough. right before you cook it you add cheese or butter, if you like. i like mine pretty plain though.

i like the muddy buddies...if you havent tried those yet.
also if you can thicken the mixture up, you can crush the rice chex and make them like no-bakes. just drop them on wax paper while they cool. sooo good.
i have also made granola bars by breaking them up into pieces and adding gluten-free corn flakes. then add your favorite flavors (mine are pb and choc chips). if you can find a granola bar recipe there is a lot you can do with them.

I am thoroughly disgusted that a company would try to disregard their responsibility in this type of situation. Those two little boys could have DIED. And then there would be a completely different reaction from them. There shouldnt have to be a death for a company to fix a problem. They dont understand how serious an allergy really is. I sincerely hope the situation gets corrected. No mother should ever have to go through that

I just tried this for a fast sandwhich.
I used sorghum and doubled the flax since i have no almond meal here. It was very good my husband even liked it! and he certainly isnt gluten free.
it was a little dry. would adding water affect the recipe?

What would be a good idea for chocolate filling for the pop-tarts. I loved the s'mores but haven't even gotten to try the other chocolate ones. I guess I should have tried them while I still could have. Oh well... Any ideas for a recipe for filling would be great. I have a chebe cinnamon roll mix here and can't wait to try to make the fruit tarts and see how they turn out!

If you don't yet have your own business (a "name" for yourself) I would start out pitching your products locally and branching out from there. Like to a wholefoods and places like that. Also not a bad idea would be to make your own website and start ADVERTISING! Spread the word about yourself. Local is the best way to start. You benefit with both saving up profits for branching out and gaining experience and feedback.
GOOD LUCK!

pop tarts (toaster streudal)
goldfish crackers
hostess cakes (snack cakes)... miss them so much
it would be so nice to see these on the shelf

I would love to buy one. i have already seen so many new things. the book certainly needs to include some of the points of advice and things like that. that would be helpful even if its just there as a reminder

i use Pamela's baking mix for banana bread and it almost always turns out perfect. i use a pan slightly wider than a traditional loaf pan to make the loaf bake more quickly as it never seemed to bake all the way through before
blueberry muffin recipe i found about ten minutes ago.: (i planon giving a test as soon as i have gotten a chance to visit the store

My apologies. On the previous recipe it should be:
1 C peanut butter
1/3 C SUGAR
1 egg
1/2tsp baking soda
1/4 salt
1/2 C choc chips (opt)
vanilla can also be added but i typically dont. a small amount is enough
400 degrees 8-12 minutes
sorry about the mix up. i was thinking of two different things at once. they are super good and very very easy:)

flourless peanut butter cookies
1 C peanut butter
1/3 C oil
1 egg
1/2tsp baking soda
1/4tsp salt (to taste)
1/2 cup choc chips (opt)
350 degrees. bake for 8-12 minutes. i usually do 11 but i'm sure it depends on the oven. these cookies are delicious. my family (who is not gluten-free) tries to steal them when i make them. they are easy and very affordable to bake. Could easily be made for a larger batch. hope this helps.

thanks for those tips. Anyone know any good substitutes for almond or flax meal?
-
I was wondering about the almond meal and the flours. will others work.
how do substitute flours work out? turn ut good still?
-
There list has been taken down temporarily for all allergens. I would go and ask for customer assistance. most of them are very knowledgeable and won't mind at the very least, pointing you in the right direction

dinty moore has a couple but i haven't tried them. i stocked shelves in grocery last year so i allllways looked for "gluten free" on stuff. dinty moore's beef stew and a couple others have that on the label

i have a deep hatred for glutino's breakfast bars! they were the first thing i bought on the gluten-free diet. my doctor said go find something small with some good calories because i was down 35 lbs from the sickness. so i went to the local health food store and found those and i thought "oh cool...like a nutrigrain bar!" i took it to my mom's work and opened one right up. took a bite. SPIT IT OUT! the nastiest thing i have ever tried. like sawdust and some bitter fruit that was supposed to have been blueberry.
i also was not a fan of ian's chicken nuggets. their pizza is very good though.
namaste pizza crust mix was pretty terrible. i didn't like envirokids plain cereal. but the peanut butter kind is very good.
i like nana's cookies except for the lemon because they messed with my tummy for some reason. no idea on that, could have been something else

What exactly is an FSA? How do i get one? i have never heard of one before seeing this post. Can you still get tax deductions? If not which would be the best idea??
-
Did you know you can get tax deductions for having to buy more expensive foods?
https://www.celiac.com/categories/Celiac-Di...Deduction-Info/
check it out. I cannot get it yet because my doctor never gave me the test. just diagnosed me, gave me an info packet on the diet and sent me on my way. But definitely check this out if you haven't already.

have you tried making krispie treats or granola bars?
you can use cocoa pebbles to make treats like a flavored rice krispie treat. very good!!
and granola can be made with cereals or gluten-free oats. delicious too. and both are pretty filling.
also fresh fruits with peanut butter. i like crackers with peanut butter and maple syrup which is AMAZING:)
always check labels of course.
muddy buddies:)
rice chex
chocolate chips, peanut butter, vanilla, butter and powdered sugar is one of the best snacks ever. probably not good for on the run food because the sugar is messy

i like kinnikkinikk. they have great taste and are lighter than a regular bagel, which is a good thing for me because i wouldnt be able to finish it otherwise. i didnt care for glutino because of the heaviness
-
Those do look good. And there are five flavors now! I might have to try them pretty soon:) thanks for sharing!

I agree about finding a new doctor. when i started getting sick i was 16. my doctor was convinced i had an abusive boyfriend and this was "my cry for help." i explained to him that i didnt even date. i liked to eat and didnt want to stop eating. it took 4 months of arguing about this and he finally showed up one day with a printout of the gluten free diet safe/unsafe list but refused to give me any formal test for diagnosis. i still haven't had a formal diagnosis. just an amzing recovery after being gluten free for three years.
i would find a new doctor. possibly a GI specialist
