  1. The meetups always get cancelled. I get the notices and then I get the cancellations. That's why we formed our own!
  2. That happened to my older son, who was gluten free to keep the rest of us safe. After 6 months off gluten, he was getting violently ill with gluten. His blood tests were negative, so we are assuming he is gluten intolerant.
  3. I found it to be very unsatisfying, very much like a frozen protein shake. I did not have any gluteny issues with it, just thought the taste was bleh.
  4. Yes, thank God after about 4 months gluten free
  5. 'Before going gluten free, as I got sicker and sicker, I was on Xanax 4 times a day. That went away within days
  6. It is rare to have a false positive blood test. Especially with low nutrient levels. I think you can safely call yourself Celiac. The biopsy is pretty simple and you won't remember it. They give you an amnesiac to take care of that. You go to sleep, you wake up. You might have a bit of a sore throat. There are like 35 ft of intestines, and docs take...
  7. Welcome! There's lots of us here in OC. Some great places to eat, too. If you haven't already checked out the front page of this site, check the safe foods list. It's very helpful. Janie
  8. High quality protein, and generous servings of peanut butter! Peanut butter has like 200cal in 2 tbsp. That's how my son got to a normal weight....lots of PB.
  9. I used to scratch until I bled- seriously, I had bruises shaped like scratches. It was so bad, especially on my thighs and torso. It's mostly gone away since going gluten free, but it took a couple of months. My doc says its normal with Celiac. He suggested coating myself with Eucerin Calming Cream while still wet after showering, then drying off. It...
  10. Whole Foods Jamboree has a nice bakery case with several gluten-free and vegan options. I will be getting their carrot cake next week for a party. If it's any good, I will let you know!
  11. I have a friend who is 80+ with Celiac. She calls it Celiac Sprue, because that's what they called in back in the old days. Most current docs don't know diddly about Celiac, so I am fairly sure they didn't know much about it way back when. Lots of undiagnosed old folks, is my guess.
  12. Two things: Your B12 level is technically normal, but I had the buzzing at 570. Try some sublingual B12, 2000 mcg per day, taken at bedtime. Also, the twitching can come from iron deficiency. Have you had your ferritin checked? I've been on b12 and iron for 3 months, and it's gotten much better. The tingling is almost gone (and it was from head to...
  13. I am not certain, but this sounds a bit like gluten ataxia. Put that in the search engine on the site. There are lots of posts on it. I guess it is pretty common to develop neuro issues after going gluten-free. I did, with neuropathy. I never had it before I started the diet. Doesn't make sense to me, but many others have noticed the same thing.
  14. Put the "Thriller" dance on youtube so we can see it!!

  15. I was recently FINALLY diagnosed with Celiacs. I was suffering from malnutrution, and was very, very thin. Not too long after I started the gluten-free diet, I got "refeeding edema" and gained 25 pounds overnight. It's been 6 weeks and it hasn't resolved itself. My doctors are stumped and say "give it time." Did anyone else have this experience? If so...
