Never mind, I found a retail price, it looks like they're $3.49 per box, so just over $2 per box would be a great deal.

Does anybody know off hand what Ancient Harvest organic corn/quinoa pasta costs in the store? I haven't bought any in awhile, so I'm rusty on the exact price, but I like it and want to get some more. Amazon has it for $25 for 12 boxes and I'm trying to figure out if that's a substantially better deal than the store.

You should always bring your own food, unless you have a trained celiac chef cooking for you.
Good point on the life insurance, I guess that there are some benefits to staying undiagnosed. My rate is pretty good. I did tell the guy that I had a TIA, but that it was food related and that the doctor had advised me to avoid gluten to prevent future problems.
For me, I don't have a very difficult time living strictly, because my symptoms are severe and scary. Diagnosis isn't an option, because the gluten challenge could kill me. Everybody has a different situation, though. I think that it's better to get a DX, but since it's not an option for me and live just as if I got handed a note from the doctor.

Any other San-J fans here? I love their sauces! I find that I'm buying them on a weekly basis. We eat a lot of stir fry and it's great to have something that's certified G.F. and tasty to spice it up with. A regular one that we get is their spicy peanut sauce. The Mongolian beef sauce is pretty good, though a little sweet. I like their orange sauce, but it's a little hard to find in my rural location. My husband likes their Szechuan sauce, but it's too spicy for me!
Today, I found a new one, Sweet & Tangy Polynesian sauce! I think that this might be one of our all time favorites.
So what are your favorite San-J sauces?

Are you peanut free or just tree nut free? I have an easy yummy recipe for a peanut butter pie.

Do one sandwich per day. Don't torture yourself with overdoing it.
I overdid the gluten during my challenge and due to that, I had to quit 10 days into it, because I had a very severe reaction and ended up in the ER. I went gluten free at that point and figured that my $3,000.00 hospital bill was a good enough reason to live like a celiac and be gluten free for life.

Maybe it would be best to forgo restaurants for awhile while trying to figure things out.

Here's the post I read:

I'm confused, Beth, are you saying that if a number is higher than 100, they don't give a specific number? Because on a blog, I saw a post about a mom whose kid had a Ttg of 3,500 at diagnosis.

I find graham cracker crusts to be a hassle and haven't perfected them yet. Mine turn out thick and hard. I think that Mi-Del works out cheaper than making them too.
($4-5 for gluten free graham crackers plus extra for butter and sugar, and the premade crusts are less than $5 each) Especially today, since I found them marked down to 50% off at the health food store! (so a little over $2 each)
I made a peanut butter pie and I'll report back after we've eaten it.

Enjoy Life chocolate chips are dairy and soy free.

Were you blood tested? If not, you will probably want to run the full panel of celiac bloodwork before going any further.
If that is all negative, then you have nothing to lose by trying the gluten free diet to see if you feel better. If your symptoms clear up on the gluten free diet, then that's your answer. Many here (including myself) don't have a firm diagnosis, but adhere to a strict gluten free diet because it works to keep us symptom free and healthy.
There are no scientifically validated medical tests for non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

That is one amazing side effect of being gluten free--I eat much better in general. Less sugar and processed food, more veggies. Most of the processed stuff isn't an option for me, since it has gluten. My theory is that that's why gluten free diets supposedly produce weight loss--it's not the actual lack of gluten, it's all the fattening and processed food that's off limits because of the gluten.

I totally pull the paper plate from the middle too!

I just realized that a supplement I purchased this fall and have been taking sporadically, has oat fiber in it. Perhaps that explains the low level symptoms lately.....
How did that one slip by me? I even screened my antibiotics before taking them recently.
Remember, read every label every time!

Sorghum flour is a good rice flour alternative. Quinoa flour also works well as a substitution.

Another thing I miss is pot pie. Amy's has/had a gluten free tofu pot pie that was pretty darn good, and either they stopped making it or I can't find it ANYWHERE anymore. I used to buy 5 at a time, and then the local supermarket just stopped carrying them. I find Blake's almost offensive with its stupid cornbread crust. That is NOT pot pie.
Are you looking for a vegetarian pot pie specifically? I'm vegetarian and I make pot pie.

Has anybody tried these? I saw them at my health food store and it was pretty exciting to see a premade graham cracker crust option, but I haven't tried them yet.

Wow! Sounds awful! I'm glad that I never bothered trying it. I've only tried the 7 grain and the cinnamon raisin.

Aw, it's no fun to miss out. Maybe eventually you can get back soy and dairy.

Sushi is super easy if you have a sushi mat. I got one for only $3 at the Oriental store.

Does anybody know if there's any gluten free product info on them? I looked around and so far, I've been coming up dry.

What annoyed me is that subscribe and save wasn't available for this item. It's a prime item, but with no subscribe option. I could've gotten another 15% off, if they let me subscribe.
