Always check the label, but I doubt that the orange juice had gluten in it. Celiacs can have other foods bother them, especially as they are first healing.
Welcome to the board!

I'm glad that your symptoms are resolving. It sounds like no matter what the results of the biopsy, you know for sure that gluten is the problem.
-
So did they tell you the biopsy results yet?

I purchase Bob's Red Mill gluten free masa harina flour from Vitacost for my homemade tortillas. They taste great and I have peace of mind that they are fully gluten free.

I went out with my homeschool co-op friends to a restaurant the other day. I ordered a glass of juice, then pulled a bunch of grapes and a banana out of my purse. They thought that it was cool that I had goodies in my purse! People just get used to it after awhile.

If you do rice as her only grain, you could choose Indian white basmati rice. That is one of the safest.
In our family, we rarely ever eat brown rice anymore, as all brown rices have substantially higher levels of arsenic than white rice. My husband and I decided that the extra nutrients and fiber in the brown rice wasn't worth the extra arsenic exposure.

Welcome to the board! I like your username. I am a homeschool mom. My oldest is in 3rd grade.
How wonderful that you have a firm diagnosis and can now help your family to be aware.
-
There might even be some exclusively gluten free restaurants in San Francisco.
-
I like the way you think....organic raspberries are definitely a treat!
-
I've been gluten free for 5 years with no diagnosis. I just play it safe and assume that I'm celiac when it comes to cross contamination, safe foods, etc.
Better to be safe than sorry!

What I usually do is make up some food for the party and put it in a glass pyrex portables dish. If it's hot, I can keep it hot in a thermos.
-
I like to clean with vinegar and baking soda.
I sometimes make a homemade spray cleaner with 50% water, 50% vinegar, a few drops of essential oil, and a few drops of dish soap.
-
Does she know why you're gluten free? My friends are usually not offended, because I make it clear that staying gluten free is a matter of life and death for me--it's not a fad diet.

I use Meleleuca Renew. It has no gluten ingredients and does a great job of moisturizing my skin. I've had severe hand dermatitis and this is my favorite brand!
-
I second Laura! We love Chebe mix. I make it without adding any cheese to the dough and it's great.

Buy your own food and hide it! LOL!
I got very badly glutened during the time that I reintroduced gluten to my kids last summer. I suspect that it had something to do with them eating gluten and then touching my food.
-
I've heard that Red Robbin sells their gluten free buns, which are wonderful, but that's 2nd hand information so I'm not sure if it's really true. It's worth checking out though!
I've purchased buns from Red Robin before. They are very good!

Just curious because my husband and I both have brown eyes and ended up with a blue eyed child. I wondered if celiac worked the same way.
-
Is it possible to get celiac via a recessive gene?
-
Beth, let me know it turns out, if you end up making your own fish food. I have fish as well, which eat gluten, since there's no commercial goldfish flakes that are gluten free, that I know of.

Do you have 2 day delivery overseas or do you have to wait longer? (not sure which country you're in)
I use Amazon to ship items to my friends in Micronesia, but it takes awhile to get there.
-
I use the Natural Balance Limited ingredient brand.
-
Zebra, do you access to Earth Balance butter? It's a great substitute for folks who can't have dairy.

Vitacost is pretty good for shipping products overseas. We shipped a fairly heavy box over to our friends in Micronesia and the shipping charges were only $9.99.
