Got my results the other day. Here thery are :
Anti-gliadin IgA 12
Transglutaminase IgA 8
Fecal Fat 366
casein IgA 12
HLA-DQB1 0302
HLA-DQB1 0602
My bloodwork (done my my primary care) was gliadin IgA 1.3 (out of 10)
transglut AB 1 (out of 3)
I had an upper gi where they found a hiatal hernia, scarring of the esophagus from GERD but nothing in the bowel (although they didn't really look there) but they ruled out inflammatory bowel/Chron's.
When I went g.f. for a week, my acne and rash cleared up but I was still on milk so I kept having the diahrrea and cramping. My doc told me to go back on gluten but stop milk, and the cramping etc stopped but my rash came back.
So, my primary care thinks I'm nuts and a hypochondriac but if going gluten-free and milk free can make me feel better, then I'm willing to try it and get my life back.
Any advice? Thanks

I am so sad. It looks like my bloodwork is negative. I was so hopeful that I found a solution since going g.f has made me feel so much better. Here are the results of my bloodtests. It looks like the ranges are next to the results, but I can't tell if they are the total ranges of the test or the limits of normal.
Endomysial AB negative
Gliadin IgA 1.3 (0.0 - 10.0)
Gliadin IgG .8 (0.0 - 10.0)
Transglut AB 1 (0-3)
So for IgA, does that mean the highest they test for is 10?
Thanks

I've been off gluten for a full week now, but I still get very bad gas pains. Is this normal? Or does it mean something other than gluten has been causing my symptoms? Since going g.f., I have had more energy and my skin symptoms are clearing, but no relief with the gas- no matter what I eat, the pain starts about 30 min to an hour later.
What does detox feel like?
Thanks.

I did the iodine test last night. Shortly after I put the bandaid on, the skin next to the bandaid got goosebumps and became very itchy and looked like the rest of my rash. When i took the bandaid off this morning, all that was under the bandaid was a yellowish spot - no blisters.
I have been g.f. for a week now and the other rash I had is getting better, as well as the acne on my face has cleared up. I also have more energy and feel better. Still waiting for the blood test results, though.
I'm so confused!

You could try the Iodine Test.....
What's that? Can I do it at home?

I have had an itchy rash on my legs, elbow, and buttocks for a long time now. They look like little red dots that I scratch until they bleed, then they scab and itch some more. One dr thought it was scabies, but my dermatologist thinks it's eczema with really dry skin. Another dr said it looked like an autoimmune thing. The derm said she couldn't do a biopsy because I had scratched them so much that there was nothing to scrape plus I scratched to infection.
I have other possible celiac symptoms (GI) but no diagnosis yet.
Could this be DH?
Thanks.

Hi,
I have been suffering from off and on diarrhea for months. I also get really bad cramps sometimes after eating, plus I just developed heartburn. I also have had chronic pelvic pain since January which they cannot find a diagnosis for.
The past month or so, in addition to bad rosacea on myt face, I developed a very itchy rash on my legs, elbow and buttocks. It looks like little red dots that itch and bleed and scab and itch again. One dr said it was scabies, but the dermatologist says it's eczema with really bad dry skin that I have made infected by scratching.
I suggested the possibility of celiac with my dr and she ordered the blood test yesterday. I'm supposed to see a gi dr in a few weeks about the heartburn and gas pains.
I think I have celiac, but none of the drs really think so - they think my symptoms are not related to each other. I also have gained a lot of weight, which is contrary to celiac although I did read you can gain weight with celiac. I also have a few allergies (including peanut) so I know I am an atopic person.
Does this sound like celiac? Any advice? Is it hard to diagnose?
Thanks

I had an upper gi a week or so ago and they found scarring in my esophagus. The dr said it was from acid reflux and left it at that. I just got a call today and the radiologist suggests that I have an endoscopy to make sure reflux is the cause of the scarring. No one thinks I have a problem with gluten b/c my blood test came back ok (despite Enterolab coming back with positive stool sample and genetic test and gas/diahhrea symptoms no one can explain).
Has anyone had an endoscopy for acid reflux? Can they diagnose or see signs of celiac at the same time even if they are not looking for it? Can gluten cause scarring of the esophagus?
Thanks,
Laurel
