Yep, that's what I'm talking about today. No! I don't have 'em!We have a long time friend that has celiac disease...was diagnosed over 10 yrs. ago after a mental breakdown. I think I wrote about him in one of my earlier entries. Anyway, he has been having trouble with his prostate, thought it was just the regular old man's problem (he's 70 something). Well, it turns out it's not his prostate after all. It's a great big hemorrhoid that is pressing on his prostate.I wanted...

There seems to be some question amongst celiac sufferers as to whether Lawry's Seasoned Salt has gluten in it. I use the product often and, personally, have suffered no reaction from it.

Lawry's is a Unilever product and here's what they have to say:

"Some of the people in my family have food intolerances and food allergies, can you tell me which food allergens are in your products?
Our product formulations and ingredients change from time to time; ...

What's up with this new blog format? I don't like it at all.

We have a restaurant near us called the Fish City Grill. I had eaten there a few times when they first opened up a couple of years ago, but they had very little gluten-free items on the menu. My daughter went there yesterday and found that they now have a gluten-free menu. She spoke with one of the "higher ups" in management that was visiting from Chicago who has celiac disease herself and she said ...

I've been super busy and haven't had time to make any new entries lately, but hey, I feel compelled to go for 10,000 hits since I'm so close.

My husband and I have been renovating the house that we bought (on the 36 acres). We've bought our first goat. He's a character - like a pet dog. We also bought a couple of guard donkeys that don't seem to know they are supposed to be guarding. They are both pregnant and due to foal any time. I'm looking forward to the ...

Haven't much to say these days. I've been feeling exceptionally well, so I must be doing something right.

We bought 36 acres and are remodeling the house that is on it. We plan to move out there when the major renovation is done and the barn is built. We've decided on a tractor and will be buying it soon. We're going to try to be self-sufficient. The property has a deep water well that supplies the house and all the property with water. We plan to plant a garden ...

No problems with my Starbucks frappuccino. Yeah! Now the question is...what was it that was causing my digestive upset?

Well, I am happy to report that all of the food I bought at the gluten-free store is good. The Glutino crackers are excellent. They're a cross between a saltine and a Ritz. The bread, made from amaranth flour is pretty decent, too. Not like wheat bread, mind you, but good enough to enjoy. And the Glutino cereal tasted sort of like a mix between Honey Comb and Captain Crunch.

So, I can't remember the name of the bread mix that I saw on-line that prompted me to ...

Our friends at church had a pot luck supper/graduation celebration for my son after church, at a park, tonight. When I got in line to get something to eat, I helped myself to some tortilla chips that I brought, then I stood there looking at a sea of sandwiches.

Seriously, sandwiches as far as the eye could see.

So, as I inched forward in the line looking for the food that I brought that I knew I could eat, I spied one lone deviled egg and snared t...

I was just thinking the other night, as I was laying in bed with horrible stomach pains, 'Is it the celiac disease or is it something else?"

So that makes me wonder if other celiacs always blame gluten when they are sick or do they consider that it might be something else. I know for a fact that I did not have any gluten that day. I ate at home all day and there is no gluten in my house. Well, except that recently my daughter bought my husband some pretzels ...

The Texas Roadhouse has a gluten-free menu. I went there tonight and they have quite a few things on the gluten-free menu. One puzzling thing is that you have to ask for your grilled meat to be prepared without "grill shortening". I can't imagine why their shortening would have gluten in it. I'll have to check that out.

I have a friend who has celiac disease and goes there often to have steak. I'm quite sure he hasn't thought to ask them to prepare it without ...

I didn't like my mom's cornbread while I was growing up...actually, never liked anyone's cornbread. They probably all made it the same, all those Southern mothers.

Mom taught me to cook, which is a good thing, but I didn't like it. We had a conversation one night whilst in the kitchen preparing dinner.

    Mom, "Mosaics, make the cornbread."

Me, "Ugh, I don't like making cornbread."

Mom, "Well, you need to learn to make it so that whe...

You know what the coolest thing about being on the gluten-free diet has been for me so far? Not getting sick. I've been gluten-free for nearly three years now and have not had any cold or flu at all. I might have mentioned this previously in my blog, but it still amazes me. I don't know if it's because I'm off gluten, or because my kids are older and aren't bringing home all kinds of germs from their little friends, or because I've already had every cold virus there is...

I like to have lunch with my friends at La Madeleine's, but since so much of their food is bread based, I usually have the same couple of things over and over, which is kind of a drag. Before I was diagnosed with celiac disease, I used to get their mushroom soup every time it was the soup du jour. Oh, it is yummy!

After I got my diagnosis, when I questioned them, I was told by La Mad's employees that the tuna and chicken salad have bread crumbs in them, that the ...

I think it's time for more pictures! I got a new car in June. It's a BMW Z4. I had a Z3 for about 10 years that I sold...on www.craigslist.com , believe it or not. It sold the first week to the first person who contacted me. Wow. Anyway, here's my new car. Ain't it purty?! It has lots of cool features and I'm enjoying it very much. Well, crud. I can't get the picture smaller so the whole car is there. Oh well, this part is pretty enough. ETA: Well, I guess...

It's a small thing, but I'm still bummed. I just found out that my favorite fish restaurant, The Flying Fish, puts beer in their hushpuppies.

I thought I had been so careful asking about the gluten and making sure there was no wheat in any of the food. I was assured there was not and have been happily eating there for a few months now. I had noticed that several times I was feeling not so great after eating, but since I had quizzed them about the food, I thought ...

I don't understand my fellow celiac disease sufferers when they say that they're tempted to eat gluten, or that they just had to have a piece of cake, or a piece of bread. They say they know they'll suffer for it, but "it won't hurt to have just one piece", or "I just had to have it", etc.

What are they thinking? I'm beginning to think that some people just like to be miserable or have something to complain about.

I've gotta say that I am never tempted t...

This is quite upsetting. The longer I'm on the gluten-free diet, the more sensitive I'm getting. Is it because my system is no longer accustomed to compensating for the gluten influx, or is it just the progression of the disease? I guess I'll never know since I discovered my celiac disease before I suffered many symptoms.

Within the past several months I've noticed that when I get glutened my stomache starts to rumble shortly after I've eaten and then it's off ...

Is anybody out there in blogland!?

I had a good gluten-free Thanksgiving. No gluten contamination. Last year I got something, still haven't figured out what it was, but it ruined my trip to see Cirque du Soliel.

Some of my family members brought some glutened foods, but I avoided them and all was A-OK. My sausage dressing was excellent this year. Remind myself next year to grind up part of the rice bread (brown and white rice) in the food processor a...

It's an established fact. Cell phone companies only hire morons. Non-morons need not apply. I won't say I'm sorry to any phone company employee that may be reading this. Every last one of them is a moron. If it isn't true...then prove it...act like you have a brain.Early this summer we went to get a cell phone for our son. I must preface this with: My husband is a long time customer with Sprint. He got his cell phone when they first started offering cell service about...

My son bought the lawn mowing business. Well...my husband and I loaned him the money for it. He's been working hard already contacting customers, becoming acquainted with the equipment and getting it all ready to go, setting up his schedule, etc. I think he'll be going out to mow for the first time tomorrow. I'm excited for him since this will probably be a life-changing experience...I hope for the best. My husband and I made the concrete pads to bolt the gazebo supports...

My son's school started today, although it's just a half day and a party. He's in 11th grade now and it's his first time to drive himself. Eeek! I've dreaded this day.Last Sunday night we had a teenager die in our neighborhood. The driver was a 16 y.o. who just got his license the week before. His 15 y.o. friend was on the passenger side and a 14 y.o. boy was in the back. The main road coming into our neighborhood is two lanes both ways. As it passes our cul-de-sac it...

I usually like chocolate desserts...chocolate cake, choc. chip cookies, chocolate cheesecake, brownies, etc. But sometimes a good cobbler is what I crave. And I do love blackberry cobbler. That's something I missed for a while after going gluten-free...not that I had it often, it was just the thought of not being able to have it. Well, I learned how to make it gluten-free and it's excellent. I made it for a church get-together and everyone loved it. One person said...

I don't like to write about health problems because when I actually write them down, I sound like a poor unhealthy sot...which I'm not. In fact, I've been remarkably healthy for someone who's unknowingly had a disease all her life. But I'm going to talk about my eyes. In addition to celiac disease, eye problems run in my family. It's a retina detachment disease called Waggoner-Steckler (sp?). My uncle has told me that the disease is named after our family (some claim...
