  1. No bananas do not contain gluten . There are no “proteins linked to Celiac” in a banana.
  2. It is a trendy diet for people who don't have Celiac disease. And, as far as your doctor can see, you do not have Celiac. Unless you had the rash biopsied and it came back as DH? Then you have Celiac.
  3. Sure. that is a common sign. Remember you need to be on a regular gluten containing diet for an extended period of time to be diagnosed with Celiac.
  4. Yes. A clean microwave is safe. Get this alcohol stuff out of your head. ? Can you wash the dishes well? I have found white vinegar loosens flour residue. Do they go in the dishwasher? It’s not like the gluten is growing, so if you can get them clean, you can use them. People worry that little cracks will be hard to clean. But the fact is, ...
  5. Gluten doesn’t die. You just need to clean it off. A microwave is only an issue if there is food on the “ ceiling” that can fall in your food.
  6. I eat all the Mission CORN products with no issues .
  7. I use them all the time. They aren’t going to bake bread in a lettuce factory. And the packaged mixes that have croutons included - the croutons are baked and packaged, at a bakery to be added to the salad. I don’t see any reason to make our lives harder than we need them to be.
  8. The same plant means nothing. Same machinery might be an issue. But if they are “ certified” they have tested them and they test gluten-free
  9. The best thing to do is call your church office and ask. Find out what one they use and the procedure. Then you can check on the host they buy. There are some that have basically no gluten. Or you can see if you can get the blessed wine set aside for you.
  10. All of Schars products are gluten-free. They don’t make any that are not.
  11. Rumor has it there are some very promising treatments coming up soon. Unfortunately, it will take years to work it’s way thru the US drug testing/ verification process. And of of course it depends on why you have dementia.
  12. Looks like it’s meant for pain that can’t really be treated. Not sure it would hurt anyone but right now it’s being tested for HIV patients ( according to your article). Would be great if it reduced the amount of pain meds. Not sure why you have pain .... I hope it has been diagnosed because treated Celiac should not cause pain everyday
  13. When I spoke to the owner a few years back, she told me people are not allowed to bring thier lunches into the facility. Here is a link to their gluten-free info https://canyonglutenfree.com/uploads/Canyon-Bakehouse-Mission-&-Values.pdf
  14. This is a completely gluten-free company with completely gluten-free facilities. they test the bread for gluten. I wonder if your "rash" is from something else? Perhaps another ingredient or other things you are eating with this bread? Wanted to add that the founder has Celiac.
  15. It is meant to be restrictive - so you don’t run any risk of cc with gluten. That really is the fundamental basis. It isn’t meant to be fun or interesting. It is meant for people who are very sick and the normal gluten-free diet isnt working. It is a last step before medications. It is not a lifestyle or a life long diet. So, for those who really nee...
  16. The point of the diet is not to give someone lots of choices. The point is to severely limit the foods for a short period of time to be absolutely certain no gluten can sneak in. So the fact that some herbal teas are made with barley might be why they don't want to even chance that. I would guess that the OJ you described would probably be...
  17. All the info in this thread is several years old. Might want to check with the manufacturer
  18. Of course not! Sometimes people like to stir things up. In the case of “ corn gluten” - sometimes you hear this phrase but the only gluten a Celiac is concerned with is the kind in wheat , rye and barley. In food, the term “ gluten” refers to these 3 grains.
  19. About 30% of people have a gene for Celiac but only about 1% actually have Celiac. did he at least do the endoscopy and get positive biopsies? Sounds like you might need to educate yourself or get another GI https://www.cureceliacdisease.org/screening/
  20. Did they test you for Celiac? Please don’t go Gff until you have at least had the blood antibody testing
  21. I know people with Celiac who use it.
  22. I think what he is saying is that H pylori might be one of those things that can cause the intestinal damage that looks like Celiac. I am not sure that is even true. I think the H pylori is responsible for gastritis. But it does not cause positive Celiac blood antibodies. Its not listed here - https://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/what-else...
  23. The original post is 9 years old - products can change a lot over that time. The best thing to do is read the ingredients and maybe contact the company.
  24. If you have Celiac- it doesn’t matter if you have diabetes or an ingrown toenail- you must eat strictly gluten free. That means no crumbs from a shared toaster or butter tub. You may find that things you didn’t realize were related to Celiac will disappear.
