  1. Dentists know nothing about Celiac disease. I have a dentist that has a daughter with Celiac and he still knows nothing about it! look on the Celiac center of Chicago site. Search tooth or teeth. That is a reputable site if you want to show the doctor or dentist
  2. Another thing is a food and symptom diary. you write down everything you eat and the time . Then , you write symptoms and the time. See if any patterns emerge. To make this easier, you will want to eat simple foods without a lot of ingredients. If you eat a sandwich and some cookies - that’s 15-25 different ingredients. You have no way of knowing w...
  3. Why not try the most common ( in all humans , not just Celiacs) and give up dairy for a few weeks? If that is an issue, you can usually tell in a week or two. If that isn’t it , do a basic elimination diet where you pick about 10 safe foods - usually rice, chicken, olive oil, salt, pepper, cooked veg like carrots. Then you do that for a couple o...

  5. Just a thought- because these gluten-free foods - like a fresh avocado bother you, maybe it’s not gluten? Or gluten is only part of the problem? Hate for you to get stuck in the “ gluten is causing my problems” rut and miss a real problem. I know some people that used to post in this section found they had something besides Celiac/ gluten causing their...
  6. Now back to your question ? Shredding your own parm is wonderful. But I am lazy so i like the parm that is shredded and comes in the little plastic Tupperware type containers. Several different brands I have seen.
  7. I never stopped eating cheese. A lot of cheeses have very little or no lactose. I think we suffer enough, if we can and want to eat dairy cheese we should not be shamed for it. For those who can’t or choose not to, that’s fine. Unless you have actually been to dairy farms, don’t believe everything these people with an agenda make/ write. I a...
  8. I eat any brand of cheese. There are a few that say gluten-free in the US but that is silly because they are all gluten-free. I don’t see where cc could happen. They can’t make bread in a dairy or cheese factory. I have had no issues with any cheese - I read labels as there are a few specialty cheeses with beer in them. Cheese is one of those things tha...
  9. Maybe just look for a counselor or psychiatrist who specializes in chronic illness? Maybe check with your local hospitals? Have you looked on line? There are service where you can Skype with doctors , like “Doctors on Demand”. I doubt they can prescribe you medication in your country but it is a US based group. There are probably some in Europe- I ...
  10. The Celiac Center in Chicago says to wait a few month and take your vitamins . Then you should be good to go! ?
  11. Jill, I want to apologize that this thread has gotten way beyond your original question and become more about another poster and his “advice” on subjects you didn’t ask about. I hope you will stick around. Unfortunately, part of an open forum is that sometimes people will make comments we maybe should choose to ignore.
  12. Also, vomiting and certain foods bothering you are part of pregnancy. You just have to do the best you can eating what will work for you and you can keep down. One trick I used is to eat a little bit every 2 hours and regular meals. Keeping a little food in you seems to help with the nausea. Talk to your doctor OB/GYN to be reassured.
  13. Don't let this guy worry you. Even if corn bothers you, it won't cause a Celiac antibody reaction.
  14. The "natural" stuff doesn't work for ticks, I use the Deep Woods Off. don't see any gluten in the ingredients.
  15. Those are all negative - but you would expect that if you have been basically gluten-free for many years. Really doesn't tell you anything because you don't know if you have Celiac or not. https://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/what-is-a-gluten-challenge/
  16. Actually Carmel coloring is gluten-free no matter what it is made from. Natural flavorings are not likely to be “ natural wheat or barley or rye “ flavor. “In other words, natural flavor, natural flavoring, and flavoring may be derived from gluten-containing grains. BUT unless you see the words wheat, barley, rye, or malt on the label...
  17. I can't quite make it all out- some butterscotch chips used to contain malt. What I can see looks ok.
  18. So - I am addressing the blood test question. It is possible to still be positive after months or a year - however, that might be rare
  19. The part about your “right to a copy of test results”. - yes and no. Depends on the country. In the US , the information belongs to the patient - that means you can say who sees it or doesn’t ( up to a point). The hospital/ doctor office can charge you for a copy of this info. Also, in the Us, it certainly is free to show you results while you are stand...
  20. I don't understand - your doctor thinks you may have Celiac but won't even do a blood test for it? Is it because you are eating gluten-free? You need to be eating gluten to get an accurate test. If you are eating gluten, then you either need to insist or get a new doctor
  21. I have never seen any cheese that would not be safe for Celiacs except the occasional that it is made with beer. It will proudly proclaim that on the package and I don't thing any of the mainstream brands make that - its more of a specialty cheese.
  22. You can't wash the gluten out of spelt - just like you can't wash the gluten our of wheat. Because spelt is wheat. It still contains significant amounts of gluten. The only products that are labelled gluten-free that contain spelt are products that are not actually gluten-free. There are a few individuals around the country that try to sell at farmers...
  23. Any Celiac blood or biopsies taken while you have been gluten-free for six years should be negative. You may not have Celiac, but those tests don’t mean that you don’t have Celiac. After you eat gluten for a few months, you could test again if you want.
  24. I don’t see any thing wrong with giving an honest review . I would want to know if I were thinking of hiring them. Just as I would like to see a review that they did a good job or the food was awful. This sounds more like carelessness than a simple mistake.
  25. Here is a yummy and easy cookie recipe. does not require any special and expensive flour. Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies Ingredients · 1 cup creamy peanut butter (chunky would be good, too) · 1/2 cup granulated sugar · 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar (dark brown is OK,too) · 1/2 cup semisweet cho...
