  1. In the US, if it contains wheat - whether in a beef flavoring or something else- it must be on the ingredients list or at the bottom of the list in a "contains wheat " statement

  3. I don't think that poster has been on the site in a few years. I am in the US and most all sausage of various types are gluten-free. Many are even labelled that way. I understand that it is a bit harder to find gluten-free sausage in Canada or the UK.
  4. Should be very safe as it cannot be made from grains like wheat or barley for Passover. So it is usually apple cider vinegar or grape vinegar. I am not Jewish and my friends that are are not this strict - but that's the basic idea. For a Celiac - malt vinegar is not considered safe as it is made from barley and likely still contains gluten. The process...
  5. I have have never seen a yogurt with gluten . It doesn’t make sense . Except those ones with the granola mix in- those contain gluten. Most yogurts even say gluten-free on them. But I like vanilla with fresh fruit better. Or those orange or lemon flavored ones - good plain or with fruit, too
  6. Many dogs don’t do well with grain- so try a grain free dog food & treats and no human food that has grain . I think that would be the easiest and cheapest thing to do. Maybe talk to your vet to make sure there is nothing else going on?
  7. It’s good that you checked. I am sorry you had to sneak it past your hub. But it is good to get them gluten-free so they can heal, grow, think and learn. I hope you have a plan for when he comes home and what you and the children will do/ go.
  8. It is very unlikely there is gluten in fabric softener. Even if there is, you have to eat it to get a Celiac reaction. Sounds like you are having a skin allergy to some ingredients in it that is not in the other. Maybe a scent or coloring?
  9. Have you looked on Facebook? I seem to find a lot of groups are now on FB
  10. I have eaten the turkey ones lately. They said gluten-free on them. And the ingredients are gluten-free.
  11. Spelt is wheat! Oats must be specially grown and handled to be gluten-free. What else are you serving? You may want to discuss this whole meal with your friend. I get very uncomfortable and embarrassed and know I am going to hurt someone’s feelings when they surprise me with food they have made. I hate that I have to ask a bunch of questions t...
  12. Heinz ketchup is gluten-free. Toilet paper does not contain gluten ( except 1 odd “natural” brand that boasts about that). Even if it had gluten, you would have to eat it for a Celiac reaction
  13. I agree with this. Wheat is not GMO. In fact, a lot of food is not GMO but they love to advertise that fact !
  14. For a Celiac, you should worry about all the gluten you are eating. No wonder you have all those issues.
  15. A GIvdoctor isn’t going to biopsy your blisters. You need a dermatologist for that.
  16. Some of those beers are fine for Celiacs. It’s the gluten reduced ones on the list that may contain more gluten than the tests are able to detect. Obviously, this was not an article meant for celiacs. “ as more and more wellness-conscious folks dip their toes into the gluten-free waters” tells me this is meant for fad dieters. she left ...
  17. MY neice's little boy was tested at about 5 years old. He was having some GI issues. His mom said they had Celiac in the family and they tested and did an endo. But he was seen at a children's hospital with a Celiac center. I think Medicaid varies by state. the actual doctors that accept Medicaid makes a big difference, too. Many doctors will not...

  19. Is it going down every time it is tested? Maybe he is just one of the slow ones? Is his DGP IGA also high? That would represent that he is getting some gluten. You could look into the Fasano diet.
  20. There are other reasons it could be slightly elevated. Or its possible he is getting gluten at school or friends houses occasionally? Might not have a lot of damage, so it might have been missed on an endo.
  21. I am sure they are looking for more than just Celiac. Doesn't sound like they are skipping steps and going "straight" to this. You should be happy to have doctors that want to find the cause. So many people are just told to take vitamins/ iron and end up with worse issues later.
  22. On the very slight chance there was actually a gluten molecule on the tomato, it should wash off. If gluten didn't wash off, I think we would be glutened all the time! If you are really worried, I have found that white vinegar and water seems to dissolve wheat flour so it washes off. White vinegar is gluten-free, but I don't know what kind of dirt it's...
  23. Did they blood test for Celiac antibodies? reasons to do these tests even without Celiac- to see If you are having internal bleeding that would cause the anemia. Age - going to do a colonoscopy anyway. Family history I guess they have ruled out blood loss from heavy periods and normal reasons, like diet, for blood loss. Have you supplemented...
  24. While that might seem scary, the gluten that might be in the soil will not be in your tomatoes or carrots. if they had a bit of soil on them, you would wash it off.
  25. Depends on the bread. I always toast mine a little first so it doesn’t get mushy
