This thread is 10 years old. Any info about products is out dated. -
More Dates, Sex and Orgasms for Gluten-free Eaters?

High Blood Pressure?
kareng replied to LilyR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I see your other posts trying to locate one ingredient that might be causing your issues. Try to just eat more simple foods. It's hard to figure out what is bothering you when you eat things like choc chip cookies with at least 12 ingredients . Try just eating a really simple diet for a couple of weeks and see if you feel better - use one ingredient... -
Stickers, stamps, envelopes you lick?
kareng replied to LilyR's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The science of glue in the last 40 years or more, , has made better and cheaper glues without using gluten. BUT licking envelopes is just gross. You put your germs on the envelope, and while most germs and viruses do not survive long once dry, some do. Also, why put something unclean in your mouth? Would you pick up anything else that has been... -
UDI BREAD
kareng replied to WATERWALKER's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Udis was was bought by Smart Balance over five Years ago. gluten-free sorghum is not a cheap ingredient. Not sure why they changed it, but they had a lot of problems with the white bread having big air pockets. Might have just wanted to make a " healthier" bread with more whole grains? -
Nestles chic chips are gluten-free. I use them with no problems. But there is a lot of fat and sugar in cookies

I am sorry you feel that way. I just wanted you to understand the seriousness of this illness. I have seen too many moms & dads that think a little bit won't hurt their child. I am glad that was not your intention and will not respond to you any longer, if that will help. Obviously, I could have said that better.

Gluten Free Tea
kareng replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I asked what the ingredients were because it was likely fine. But you don't have to believe me - I haven't used them, so I don't know the ingredients. But I think I would believe the company over some random person on the internet and they say it is gluten-free. The fact is, that the more people you ask, you will find someone who thinks it has... -
She did say she thought it was insignificant like a little prick. that will keep her sick. I want her to understand this is a real illness. I am sorry if I was a bit harsh, but I have seen so many of these parents and the "little bit won't hurt" strategy.

Gluten Free Tea
kareng replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Why do you not trust the website for Newmans? I think they would know better than us random people on t he internet? https://www.newmansown.com/faqs/?type=product-and-ingredient "Is the tea gluten free? Newman’s Own Organic Teas are gluten free! There is no gluten in our teas, tea bags, or gluten traces in our tea wrapping." -
Gluten Free Tea
kareng replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Probably. What are the ingredients. The only gluten that occasionally shows up in tea is barley. It will be listed as an ingredient -
Maybe it was a different type of wine that had a real cork? IF that is the case, there are things like tannins and nitrates that can effect people. The amounts can be different by, not just type of wine but by vineyard. But there is no gluten in plain wine or corks.

A person with Celiac cannot have gluten! they can not take the burger off the bun! A few crumbs every day will hurt her. Think of gluten like a germ. Its very small, but once it gets in your bosy, it will do damage. You need a separate toaster. buy one in red. Buy some red duct tape. Or pink if you can find that! She needs separate butter...

Just to add to this - Barefoot is a cheap wine. It isn't made in barrels. If it actually has a cork, I bet its one of those plastic ones. Of course a real cork wouldn't have gluten - its cork.

Gluten Free Skincare and Beauty
kareng replied to Miricole's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's not at all how it works. Skin can not " absorb" gluten. Gluten is too large to pass thru the skin into the blood vessels. A Celiac reaction occurs in the small intestine. The gluten must be in the digestive system to cause antibodies to be made. here is the link, again, to actual doctors that are Celiac experts http://www.cureceliacdisease...- 4 replies

I don't worry about it too much. It isn't really important, unless it's something that might get in my mouth.- 4 replies

The original discussion is almost 10 years old. I would urge people reading this now bumped up thread to check with the manufacturer for up to date ingredients and practices.

Steak sauce
kareng replied to Nana Salem's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What do you mean by "steak sauce"? LIke A1? I think it is gluten-free. Its a Kraft product, so you can just read ingredients. Or do you want a marinade? Or are you talking about what a restaurant makes? We got a yummy marinade that said gluten-free on it. -
never seen one with gluten. gluten free bakeries around here use Hersheys

My understanding of DH is that it is hard to get rid of. You may need to check with a doctor about dapsone to help you get it under control.

I feel like I'm trying so hard...
kareng replied to VMCV's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Has he had his antibodies re-tested to make sure he is gluten free? You might try some sort of counseling - marriage or individual. Or both. -
Why are the symptoms still here?
kareng replied to kdp's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Doesn't sound like a very balanced diet. Rice and packaged foods? Try some vegetables, fruit, meat. Get your antibodies re-tested. Not sure you need these "supplements". Maybe you should see an MD? Some things may not be due to Celiac. It is possible to have more than one problem.
