  1. They are not the same candy. In the US, we have a completely different candy called Smarties. They are fruit flavored flat things -
  2. They are a completely different candy in other countries. Like an M&M.
  3. Don’t you have a research/ medical school hospital there that does Celiac research? I think you might. That would be a good place to start
  4. This is pretty silly to report about. with his previous drug and alcohol problems - he probably shouldn’t be drinking any kind of beer. Maybe he wants them to sponsor a tour?
  5. If this is an injection, you don’t need to worry. You don’t inject gluten and even if you did - it can’t cause a celiac reaction. The celiac reaction to gluten happens in the small intestine.
  6. Distillation is different. Distilled alcohol is safe as gluten doesn’t float up in steam. it’s just science. But I can understand not wanting to eat or drink things that come from wheat, even when it’s actually gluten-free. Beer isn’t distilled. So the above very basic explanation, does not apply.
  7. I guess my take away from all this is - sometimes using the same knife or oil or toaster doesn’t get gluten on the food ....... but sometimes it does. And why would we relax our standards and hope we get lucky?
  8. The problem with diagnosing Celiac by genetics only is - about 30% of people have the gene but only about 1% of people have Celiac. They can biopsy next to the blister and diagnose DH that way.
  9. I think you need to talk to the doctor. Go or call with a list of questions and don’t take “look stuff up” for an answer. You need to find out what you really have - gluten allergy is not really a thing. You are allergic to wheat or you have Celiac ( not an allergy but sometimes called one).
  10. That’s not usually associated with Celiac disease. I don’t think I would except a vague “ it’s hormonal” from the doctor. I hope they sent you to a breast specialist & a mammogram at least.
  11. I am betting you don’t bake....?
  12. So you drank a bunch of wine and ate non gluten-free greasy diner food? you are just trying to play with us?
  13. That’s a bread machine- they asked about stand mixers.
  14. Why would a stand mixer have a gluten-free setting? What does that mean? There is no special way to mix gluten-free cookies, cake, etc. Just buy the one in the color you like. I will suggest you buy one that uses all metal attachments - not those white coated ones. They seem to peel off after a lot of use.
  15. First - I doubt a real doctor would say that eating organic would cure a bacterial infection. Organic fruit has as much sugar as regular fruit. second - if I was told I had an intestinal infection, I would have them write it down along with the specifics of the medications, when to return , when to go to the ER, etc. No doctor would send you home like...
  16. What bad bacteria do you have in Your intestines? Sounds like a scammer to me. if you’re doctor actually diagnosed with something, he will prescribe medication. But we are supposed to have bacteria in our intestines.
  17. Sounds yummy. Are you rolling the chicken around the cheese and sauce? Or using some sort of tortilla?
  18. It’s finally over here in Kansas. But it was in the 90’s in October .
  19. I am making this yummy Instapot soup. You could probably make it in a crockpot or Stovetop, too. https://againstallgrain.com/2018/04/18/instant-pot-creamy-mexican-chicken-soup-recipe/
  20. Did you try the Denver gluten-free/ Celiac Facebook pages?
  21. We have a gluten-free bakery near me- so I can get fresh baked bread there. I wouldn’t want the supermarket to make gluten-free bread with all the gluten stuff they bake. So, sometimes I have to go to more than 1 store, but I can get most everything I would want close to home.
  22. That’s some strange thing that keeps getting passed around. The purpose of the “ powder” is to keep the cheese from clumping. Wheat flour would not do that. When it is damp, it is glue like.
  23. Oh!!!!!! I feel so bad for you! I don’t have all the restrictions you do, but that salmon sounds really good. I think I will make that soon and invite my dad over. He would like that and it meets all his dietary issues of low sodium and low carb! if you feel bad, there is No shame in just doing some light stretching on your back o...
