  1. "Kraft singles have whey protein which may not be gluten free" I suppose a protein powder made with whey, could, maybe, not be gluten-free (it would clearly list wheat or barley). But in cheese, it is just referring to a part of milk.
  2. If you aren't constipated anymore - maybe its just clearing out the poop to try to come to a more "normal" amount? You might want to run, today, to your doctor and get tested for Celiac before its too late. I think its important to know how serious you need to be about your gluten free diet and to be aware of the other issues that Celiac may have...
  3. I think the first thing is - is it REALLY DH!? Did a dermatologist biopsy it properly and the pathology report confirms Dermatitis Herpetitis? Second- a strict gluten free diet is the only way, currently, to stop it from getting worse or coming back Third- there are things a doctor can prescribe for a period of time to help it go away.
  4. So..you have had them biopsied and they are DH? Going gluten free is the only " cure" for DH. Dapsone , from your doctor, can help
  5. I am just going to be blunt - you have decided that gluten-free isn't as yummy as gluten. gluten-free soy sauce in a dish is no different than regular soy sauce. In fact, finer restaurants use the gluten-free tamari over the cheap soy stuff. Bread crumbs on your tuna casserole are not any different. Yes, bread is different, but that wasn't what you chose...
  6. I agree with Gemini. While it is always best to concentrate on good healthy foods, sometimes you need a cupcake! Breads -like Canyon makes- are not unhealthy. You will probably not find a spongy, white, Wonder bread type of gluten-free bread. The ones that taste the most like "real" bread are the whole grain types. They are more like a "whole wheat...
  7. If I buy grocery store bread, I get Canyon Bakehouse 7 grain. I usually get my bread from a local gluten-free bakery. You might see if you have one near you
  8. Here is some starting tips. The website I gave you a link to is good for info. they say not to worry about products that are not ingested. Gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin
  9. Please know that the TTg tests are not for "gluten intolerance" They are for Celiac. YOu need to eat gluten for further testing. Celiac disease is a serious disease and can cause osteoporosis as you have seen. Please don't take this casually. the bone loss may have nothing to do with your messed up knee. But Celiac can cause a lot of other issues, too...
  10. You have Celiac, you need to eat gluten free all the time - not just "try". I am guessing the doctor didn't give you any help with it? Did they refer you to a GI doctor?
  11. Are you sure he didn't eat pizza or a cookie? If you weren't there..... just a thought. And, is this his usual reaction to gluten? Do you really know that it is from gluten..... I mean...positive he got some gluten and this happens? For example - I realized after I ate something that it wasn't what I thought it was.... so I know my reaction from gluten...
  12. I split this off of the topic about dominos, because we aren't talking about fast food vaguely gluten-free pizza!
  13. I think it can be.... depending on what you think a "regular" crust texture is like. I have made a very good sour dough one. It's just a pain keeping the starter going. You can make them more like bread- allow them to rise then pat thickly on a pan. Bake completely before topping. chebe makes an interesting crust mix -...
  14. There are some with some science behind them, but I don;t think those are the ones. So I understand where the doctor is coming from. I was reacting to you saying you knew you were eating some fries with gluten but was going to do it anyway.
  15. Even the ones that are being developed to help Celiacs are not meant for you to eat gluten on purpose and on a regular basis.
  16. Thats a big turn around for you, AC
  17. I just want to point out that when this thread started, it was not in The Super Sensitive Section. I, and likely most other posters, were not responding to a self-identified Super Sensitive. Never did he identify as Super Sensitive.
  18. I assumed from something you posted that you knew you were having Celiac issues because your antibodies were still high? Or you had a repeat endo and they found Celiac damage? that was what made me think you were talking refractory .
  19. I think we wanted you to know why you don't need a " certified gluten-free coffee". Just to make life easier Ok -brand's I have used & not been glutened. - k- cups - green mtn, Kirkland, donut shop , Roastarie ground or bean- Starbucks, Caribou, kirkland (Costco) , roasterie, and several I don't remember the name of. Never found an actual...
  20. I am not even sure why you are asking about coffee. if the docs think you may have Refractory Celiac - I don't think coffee is allowed on the Gluten Elimination Diet (Fasano Diet). Most doctors want you to try that for 6 -8 weeks (if I remember the time frame correctly) before going to steroids or whatever the next step is. It usually "cures" the supposedly...
  21. You are responding, rather rudely, to someone from 2011. In 6 years products may have changed. However, the poster is correct that wheat starch is seldom used. If a person is worried about a medication they can call the company and inquire. You do not seem to have any actual info from Bayer to share. This appears to be your own assumptions. Even...
  22. I don't know what you drank or where.... so here are a few thoughts. - sure, a dive bar might have dirty glasses and serve a cocktail in a beer glass? But a nice reminder place, with a dishwasher, should be fine. If it's a sketchy place, Stick to wine, then it's served in wine glasses that aren't used for beer or bottled ciders in the bottle. ...
  23. Here is a link to a good explanation below. Some people go a bit overboard with the " what ifs". Even , on the rare occasion the stuff is made from wheat oil, and it has a stray molecule of protein.... then it is .05% ( maybe less?) of a whole 4 oz bottle of lotion- even if you drank the whole bottle- it isn't enough to gluten you. http...

  25. If you can get plain rice, go for it. Plain fish, meat, too. Maybe beef jerky and protein bars ? I wouldn't bother with the Nima- it is giving a lot of false positives
