They are very highly refined and should not contain gluten. If you aren't ingesting it, it is safe. You could roll in wheat flour - if you could keep it out of your mouth. i stay away from stuff with obvious wheat -usually wheat germ oil. But I know Celiacs that very carefully use hair products with wheat germ oil for thier curly hair...

Gluten Free, but is it Really?!?!
kareng replied to RaRaLorna's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
T Ok....you said correct you....lol i am assuming US. It can be a bit different in different countries. The US law does not require actual testing....but, your food must be <20 ppm. So, most big companies that say " gluten-free" on the package are very sure of that fact. It is a legal nightmare for them if the food is tested and not... -
Throw the book away! It isn't even based on actual biological science! Here is an easy to read explanation- https://nutrino.co/blood-type-diet-debunked/ If you actually have DH, diagnosed by a biopsy, you have Celiac. Just having the gene, doesn't not mean you have Celiac. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/if-i-have...

The poster you are responding to has not been around since 2009. The way to find out if you actually have Celiac disease is to go to a doctor and get tested for it. It is genetic, so other family member could have it, too. It has nothing to do with blood type. I think that "blood type diet" has been debunked scientifically. We did a thread and asked...

We have joked on here that we should get a job at a GI office. That would give us access to poeple being diagnosed! Lol I think that the best way to meet a life partner is to meet lots of people....or be really lucky. But, when you meet lots of people, they know lots of people for you to meet. Being active in something you enjoy, helps you meet...

Bottle Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee
kareng replied to switham1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't see any gluten in that. It wouldn't be made in the same place as the donuts, so should be safer than from a donut store. -
Bringing your own food isn't always an option a place can give you. In some counties, The health department does not allow it. If it is a small family owned place, perhaps you could talk to them ahead of time? Or eat first, and just have a drink? Or smuggle in something small like a protein bar? You might be surprised to learn that you are...

The tester seems to have some issues. Not sure I wouldn't trust it yet.

Mushrooms hit and miss
kareng replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
In my opinion, this author goes a bit over board with her "gluten is everywhere" agenda. -
I see your point. If it is safe for our purposes, I would leave it. I would think, on the rare occasion it is made from wheat, it will list " glucose syrup ( wheat)". Something like that. We might need to note that? Honestly, if I saw that, word " wheat" , I would avoid the product. I wouldn't even think about the fact that it is safe. But it might...

What new evidence/ research article do you have to make you think it isn't? Just wondering what you saw to make you question it? From Australia- http://www.coeliac.org.au/uploads/65701/ufiles/Fact_sheets/Glucose_syrup_fact_sheet.pdf The majority of wheat derived glucose (at least 90%) contains no detectable gluten...

anxiety, celiac, problems, doctors, i'm lost
kareng replied to Jm34's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Lots of people wear white medical coats. You can buy them at uniform supply stores. You can even take them to someone and have your name, Dr. Posterboy, embroidered on them. Lots of people wear them - lab techs that draw your blood, nursing supervisors, people, like me, who review records and go on rounds with doctors for research purposes... -

Sorry. I am not up on all of your history. But this part stood out to me " i ate some corn flakes ". Do you have Celiac? And were those gluten-free cornflakes? Because, in the US at least, regular ones usually have malt barley. -
Very few naturally occuring things can actually be absorbed thru the skin. Gluten cannot be absorbed thru the skin. Lotion seems like it gets absorbed, but it is really just evaporating and going into the dead skin layers. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/will-my-skin-breakout-if-i-use-topical-products-like-shampooslotions-that-have-gluten-in...

Tocopheryl is rarely made from wheat. Even if it is, it's highly refined and I see not considered a gluten problem. I have had no problems with chopstick. Also, gluten on the skin should not give a Celiac reactions. gluten must be consumed . It is possible to have an allergic reaction to an ingredient in lotion.

montgomery inn bbq sauce
kareng replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It does seem odd. Because the only vinegar that has gluten is malt vinegar. Also, last I heard, there is no way to test and get "0". The tests are usually <5 - which is safe for Celiacs. -
Gluten free frozen fries?
kareng replied to GlutenedCN's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Canada has a labeling law - they must list gluten ingredients clearly. -
Gluten free frozen fries?
kareng replied to GlutenedCN's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would buy them - the ones that are just potato and oil and maybe a preservative. -

kareng replied to Jm34's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Watch the "brewer's yeast". It is usually not considered gluten free. I usually stay away from it as it can be hard to tell. Here is a good explanation. "The (sometimes) exception to yeast being gluten-free, is with true brewer’s yeast, which is a by-product of beer and thus not considered gluten-free. To make things a little more complicated, ... -

In the US, and probably all of the world, Coke is gluten free. Caramel color is considered gf, even on the off chance it was derived from wheat. It's so highly processed, there is nothing resembling wheat left in the end. https://www.beyondceliac.org/gluten-free-diet/is-it-gluten-free/caramel-color/ " Yes, caramel color in North... -

I have never heard that nonsense. Are you young? Maybe she thought she could keep you from casual "encounters"? He needs to clean his mouth, like I said. One thing we do - my hub will brush and floss and then eat and drink gluten-free with me. Then you can be as spontaneous on kissing as you want. I kind of wonder what other nonsense...

That makes no sense. He just needs to not have gluten in his mouth when he kisses you. A good brushing and flossing and rinseing should be fine.
