  1. https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/substances/aflatoxins “. To help minimize risk, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tests foods that may contain aflatoxins, such as peanuts and peanut butter. To date, no outbreak of human illness caused by aflatoxins has been reported in the United States, but such outbreaks have o...
  2. Th secret is it only takes 3 hours on low and enough liquid. If you need a recipe to work off of, let me know. And that dinner sounds great!
  3. Made crockpot lasagna. Yummmmm! And with rice noodles, you don’t have to bore cook them!
  4. I dont know her age, any chance she is a bit depressed?
  5. Have you been to the doctor? Checked for thyroid, anemia, mono? Not everything is Celiac. She could have some other issue.
  6. I don’t know if we needed scientists to tell us that! ?. Recipes using dry beans have had warnings about under cooking and stomach aches for years. I was afraid for years to use them and chose canned beans which are cooked ( and then I cook them again).
  7. This afternoon, we made nachos to eat while watching the Chiefs game! I had some leftover chicken and half a can of pinto beans we added to it. Dinner is a little bit of some yummy Wisconsin cheddar and some local apples. Love it when the apples are in season !
  8. Unless you got some flavored kind that might have wheat flour in a sauce- it is gluten-free. But, for me, it was hard to digest when I first went gluten-free. Maybe the fiber?
  9. Dice tomatoes usually are. Read the ingredients
  10. I was quick because I had to approve your first post, so I might as well respond. ? I think starting a new thread would be an excellent idea. We have people on here that have a lot of good ideas . A few have more restrictions than I do, so they might be more helpful with how to deal with a lot of intolerances
  11. Sorry you are feeling so bad. Sounds like you have been to a doctor and had the usual suspects checked - thyroid, anemia, vitamin D, etc? Is it possible that an extremely limited diet might be part of the problem? Not giving you enough energy? from the little you have said, it seems like you might be depressed? I mean more that just bummed at...
  12. Ate last night at Bravos Italian . It’s a US chain so maybe you have it where you live? Delicious- had Caprese salad and salmon with asparagus, red peppers, spinach , sweet potatoes. It’s a bit abbreviated photo. I got so excited and ate half before I remembered my duty to take pictures and report tot the Celiac community!
  13. Hopefully it’s not a complete report. Give it a day or two before you freak out. It may have split the report into individual parts?
  14. I have actually seen marshmallows with gluten in the US. They are the cure shaped ones that come with hot cocoa gift sets. Just another example of they you need to read ingredient lists.
  15. We just had these ramen noodles for dinner with a stir fry. Really nice. Got a big bag at Costco. Don’t remember how much but not bad. Looking forward to it cooling off and adding them to soup. https://shop.lotusfoods.com/Organic-Millet-and-Brown-Rice-Ramen-4-Ramen-Cakes/p/LOT-602035&c=LotusFoods@Ramen Looks like about $10 for 1...
  16. This is a good resource with some basic info. It’s from The University of Chicago Celiac Center. So it’s reliable info. https://www.cureceliacdisease.org/ebook/
  17. This is a really helpful free e book . From actual experts in Celiac. https://www.cureceliacdisease.org/ebook/
  18. I did it today. And I know a couple of others and we got “ 4-6 weeks to receive your box”. At the end. So, maybe supplies didn’t run out? ?
  19. Doesn’t matter as white vinegar is gluten-free. Worcestershire sauce is usually gluten-free in the US. However, in some countries it is made with malt vinegar which is not gluten-free.
  20. You have to tell a little story, but it doesn’t need to be much. Nice way to try a couple of products. Or give you something to keep at work or take on a trip https://registration.spenut.com/add-your-voice-theirs/
  21. Read the thread Squirmy linked above. Maybe check out the what’s for dinner thread- just to see that we eat all kinds of food. You don’t have to read all 9000 posts! ? Then come back here with questions. But like I said, you don’t have to be perfect the first week. And it really gets easier after about 6 months or so. You stop questioning every...
  22. Last night I made a Mexican lasagna type thing . It was reasonably low fat for this type of dish. I used ground turkey that I mixed some chili seasoning in first. Otherwise I think turkey has no flavor . Then you pulverize a can of black beans with a cup of salsa, cumin and a little water. Add it to the cooked turkey and use that for that sauce. I used...
  23. I have gotten something like this . And my cat and my husband. We traced it to Oak mites. The cat and I sit on the screened porch and they come thru the screen from the neighbor’s Oak tree. In our case, they are very itchy. I guess my point is- probably not dh. There are so many annoying rashes in the world.
  24. It’s getting late for me so a couple of things- first- don’t panic! You won’t kill her if you don’t get it right the first few months. second, use some common sense. Also, in the US, all labels will call out wheat in the ingredient section. Rye isn’t in much of anything but bread and crackers and it will be listed as an ingredient. Barley ...
