  1. So here are some thoughts for you - If you were on a "normal" gluten containing diet, and your Celiac antibody tests were negative or only slightly elevated, your GI might not want to continue to pursue a Celiac diagnosis. But, if you are having gastrointestinal issues, he may want to do a colonoscopy and endoscopy to check for other problems. While...
  2. Well...now you have that website. It is a great resource for info on Celiac disease
  3. Genetic tests do not confirm you have Celiac, they just show it's a possibility. There are more places that will do the genetic tests, your doctor can order them and your insurance might pay for them. If you have Celiac, you cannot EVER eat gluten. I think you have been referred to the University of Chicago website before, so you probably...
  4. To take my thought a bit further - would your husband stand by and let his mother or anyone else hurt you? I doubt it but this poor poster's husband did just that. I am afraid she has more problems than just a self- centered MIL.
  5. No. it's US. They have spice stores and mail order
  6. It's your husband's mother - he should be talking to her! Sounds like he doesn't really understand. Sorry.
  7. Maybe 12 years ago it wasn't? Products change in that many years
  8. He needs to see a doctor. before you eliminate gluten from his diet, he should be tested for Celiac disease.
  9. You are responding to a 5 year old post. That person hasn't been on this site in a few years
  10. Many people read the forum. But most are not members. But I have heard from many people, some in person, that they have been helped by just reading the posts. If one of my topics has 768 views , I would think that I helped at least 10 people who read it to feel that they aren't the only one. Probably helped more - probably a few family...
  11. I am not seeing anything that identifies you. This could be a lot of people's story. Only Admin can delete posts and threads, but he rarely does. People took time to read it and answer you. It is a good cautionary tale for others.
  12. Use SANJ soy sauce, teryaki , etc. they are gluten-free Open Original Shared Link
  13. Your life makes me exhausted just thinking about it! Most moms of small kids and a full time job are tired all the time. Maybe you could send hem to grandmas for a weekend and you do nothing? Or leave them with dad and go to a hotel for the weekend. Amazing what a couple of long nights of sleep can do
  14. It's one of those " essential oils" with mythical properties. Lol
  15. You probably have had it for a while. but no one really knows. Run if you feel like it.
  16. Those look really positive -welcome to the Club! You might want to check to see if they are going to do a biopsy/endoscopy. If they are -DO NOT stop eating gluten.
  17. I am not familiar with this product. I would read the ingrdients? I am assuming you are asking about a pasta sauce? Most are gluten-free.... but read the ingredients.
  18. I would say "no". It has to get to your small intestines, be recognized as an invader, an immune response has to start damaging your small intestine. It takes a while to get out of your stomach.
  19. Cheerios might be because they have had some issues with "removing" the gluten
  20. That sounds yummy!
  21. It could take a year or more to heal and normalize the system. And even then, just like anyone else, we are susceptible to over-eating or foods that are hard to digest or too much fat in a meal or food poisoning or stomach virus, etc, etc, etc. It seems that we sometimes think once we are on a gluten-free diet, we will ever have any normal fluctuations...
  22. If it doesn't list flour, it should be good. I think I have used them. I like Williams , it has no salt. Lea and Perkins Worcestershire is gluten-free. I think most in the US are. It might not be gluten-free in Canada.
  23. Did they biopsy the rash to get a DH diagnosis? If not, you may not have DH and Celiac. It, if you have DH - you have Celiac. Please read the links below from The Celiac Center - Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  24. Sounds like you had a cold or the flu......
  25. Some times my hub eats gluten-free, too, so we can share or I can at least taste his. He probably just wanted to be sure the waiter took it seriously. Depending on the restaurant, sometimes it is safer if your whole table orders gluten-free - less chance of confusion in a busy kitchen. If he is drinking beer, he usually just explains that it's so I can...
