  1. Used some left over turkey I put in the freezer and made a Bisquick Turkey pot pie. Yum!
  2. Why not keep the racks in the oven while its on self clean?
  3. Spoke too soon. We are still OK but then had a tornado about an hour south. It was on the ground for 30 minutes! Fortunately, its mostly farms. Nothing much in the KC area - rain, wind, a little hail - just the usual What tortillas do you use for the fajitas? Or do you? Isn't that what Hubs are for? Heavy lifting?
  4. We are fine. It was worse to the east of us but they listen to the KC TV channels, so it always look like us.
  5. Last night, I had a Margharita pizza at California Pizza Kitchen! Yum! And maybe a little wine......
  6. To people looking for actual dinner ideas - look back a page or 2. We have a hard time always staying on track. Chime in any time about food, recipes, bathtub wine holders, creepy old guys in boxers, etc.
  7. Around here, he would be taken in as a sex offender! And probably breaking some Home Owners Assoc and city esthetic rules.
  8. More like a "real Housewives of" but without the fake fights.
  9. That's funny. Around here, it would be weird for a grown-up to be drinking Koolaid! No one would notice the boxers (I hope boxers?) as they would be horrified about the Koolaid. Here it would be a travel coffee mug or Starbucks cup with coffee and a shot or wine. I had a neighbor who looked nice in her flimsy sleep attire. She would put the dog out...
  10. I think I have mentioned before, Hubs hates with a passion, mayo. He was happily eating something and saying how yummy it was - until - SIL mentioned the ingredients & 1 was mayo. He immediately stopped eating and said it tasted terrible. Looks like I could make the chicken salad with Greek yogurt from that recipe. Just want something a little different...
  11. Anyone make chicken salad with Greek yogurt instead of evil mayo? Saw a nice recipe on the Chew today but mayo isn't allowed in our home.
  12. We can't gain weight by looking! Can we????
  13. In the past, I have started threads with all salad recipes or all cookies. The problem is that the posts all fall to the bottom after they aren't posted in. Then someone starts a new thread. It might be nice to have recipes, but wouldn't it need to be organized - like a thread for salad, a thread for entrees, etc? We could "pin" them so they stay at the...
  14. Addy - I went to a local Celiac Support group thing. This lady had made the flat bread with that flour mix you got at Costco. It is dense and dry - not in a bad way. Like a pita. Great with hummus. Freeze well. They make lots of things like pizza with it. Cut them in pieces and you could serve them with hummus and other dips to GEs (Gluten EAters...
  15. They have changed the packaging lately. The Seven Grain no longer has the "San Juan" part of the name. Some stores might get more once the old packaging is gone. I get it at many different groceries in the freezer section. Whole Foods and those kinds of places usually have it. I have even seen it at Target. It is based in the Denver area, so it may be...
  16. Last night I made some brown rice with shredded carrots and a packet of chicken bouillon. Then I added the 2 partial packs of frozen corn in the freezer, 1 can of black beans, 1 can of pintos, a jar of salsa a little water to rinse out the salsa jar & covered with a little cheese. Hub wasn't thrilled with it but then he started eating it, and loved...
  17. For Easter we grilled steak, had a sort of garlic mashed potato and salad. Chocolate pudding pie on a pre-made graham cracker crust! MI-Del makes gluten-free pie crusts. I saw graham cracker and chocolate cookie. I make the chocolate cookie one but the pre-made costs the same as the bag of cookies to make it and it sticks together better. And of course...
  18. New book with lots of good info: Gluten Freedom by Alessio Fasano, MD
  19. Here's the thing.... There are lots of Celiacs, with lots of different ideas about what they should or should not put in, on, around, over or under their bodies. (think about a few of those ) They come here wanting to know if these things are gluten-free. So we tell them. I don't see anything wrong with telling them it isn't good for them if you want...
  20. A note about the flavored wines - I have never found any gluten added to the few I have seen. I am not very fond of them so I don't usually drink them. A wine cooler is usually not wine - it is a malt beverage- so it contains gluten.
  21. If we could just add them to Mt Dew and Gatorade!
  22. Hi Irish's Mom! I am on Central time so it isn't past my bedtime yet. The problem with getting sent to my room is that they all find me! The dog, the cat, the kid, the other kid if he is home from college, the hub, my neighbor, her dog..... I need your mom to send to me Tahiti. That might be far enough to punish me!
  23. We have been having turkey sandwiches. I made a really great turkey breast in the crockpot on Sunday. I think we will have some chicken tacos tonight. I throw the chicken tenders or breasts in the crockpot with a can of enchilada sauce for a couple of hours. Then it is ready whenever we are.
  24. Don't be calling us for bail money!
  25. Had Sav Blanc here with cheese, peppered salami, fruit & Crunchmaster & Breton crackers.
