  1. I sympathize, I get very mood swingy on gluten too. I have the same reaction to corn, actually. You might want to make sure he doesn't have a corn sensitivity, as a lot of potato chip brands use corn oil and corn-derived maltodexrin is a common ingredient.
  2. Hi, I didn't start to feel better until I went on a totally grain free, dairy free and (processed) sugar free healing paleo diet. Just cutting out gluten and dairy did nothing for me, which is what you might be experiencing. Also, your absorbtion of nutrients is going to be compromised until you heal your gut. I'd advise considering going 100% paleo...
  3. Here are Dr. Kharrazian's credentials: (No there isn't an MD in there... however, that does not mean that he is not a highly educated expert in nutrition, brain function, and health. He is way more learned in nutrition and neurology than any regular doctor I've ever been to.) "Dr. Kharrazian earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University...
  4. I have adrenal fatigue, leaky gut, all that fun stuff too. Interesting, my back pain and adrenal issues have also been the thing that has taken the longest to heal itself. I am making progress though, so I hope I can help! This supplement, and the diet that goes with it (it's basically a Paleo diet) is what really helped me begin to heal. Open Original...
  5. I had these issues too. Joint pain, stiff, achy, easily got tendinitis, even had muscle spasms and other issues. All other autoimmune disorders tested negative, and no swelling at the sites of the pain. They told me I had "fibromyalgia" and just tried to give me pain pills. I declined! What healed me was going on a totally grain free Paleo diet, and...
  6. FYI it's not just the antibiotics and hormones that make grass fed and industrialized beef different. Cows that are fed grain are really sick for their entire lives, because they aren't supposed to eat grain. Open Original Shared Link So you're eating a sick animal. In addition, the food changes the nutrients in their flesh. Normally beef has wonderful...
  7. I'm sensitive to all grains. When I eat corn I have the same reaction to eating wheat gluten. There are medical practitioners and researchers out there who actually say that people with gluten intolerance need to avoid ALL grain. They claim it's essential for healing. I know that for me, I had to cut out all grain before I began to get my health back. I...
  8. I'm casin intolerant. For me, my symptoms are kinda like a mild version of getting glutened, a little GI upset, a lot of brain fog and that lovely "been hit by a bus" feeling. Personally, I am only sensitive to cow's milk. I can eat goat and sheep (as long as it is grassfed.) You might want to try a nice goat cheese and see if you can handle it.
  9. This is just a claim by vegans, it's not actually grounded in scientific truth. There is B12 generated in your gut, and some in things like nutritional yeast contain it, but it is not bioavailable, meaning your body doesn't absorb it. The vast majority of vegans are B12 deficient, even if they take supplements. This is a serious health issue. Here's a great...
  10. Ahhh, sneaky corn! A lot of folks around here have corn sensitivities too, myself included. That's totally one that worth doing an elimination diet to see if you're sensitive to. You know, I didn't used to like too many veggies either. My mom always complained about it! lol. But once I changed my diet, my palate changed some too. Now I even crave kale...
  11. Oh honey, I totally understand your pain! I was vegan when I went gluten free. I was also really thin and could never get full! I tried a gluten free vegan diet for a few months, but was still very sick. The unfortunate reality is that meats are very nutrient dense foods that are easily absorbed by the body. Some of these nutrients are not available...
  12. Oh, I feel your pain! My reactions can be pretty severe and I am SO paranoid now. Last month I accidentally ate a kernel of corn (I have gluten reactions to all grains) and I was terribly sick for a week. When I do is usually recuperate by eating lots of nutrient rich anti-inflammatory foods like coconut water, nettle infusion, chamomile tea, bone broth...
  13. Was there rice flour in the potato chips? Rice always makes me bloat. I avoid all grains now, my tummy is so much happier! Also, if they were fried in industrial seed oils, like sunflower and canola, those all cause inflammation in the GI tract (because of the high omega 6 content and of course canola is almost always GMO.) Eating as close to a whole...
  14. I also don't eat nightshades, they give me arthritic pain. Also, be wary of spice blends in things, a lot of them also contain paprika. It's really best to eat a whole foods, home cooked foods. Ditch processed foods. And according to my own experience with my health, my docs recommendations and the extensive nutritional research I've done, avoiding...
  15. That movie is vegan propaganda, pure and simple. And this is coming from someone who was vegan for years. PLEASE convince your husband to do more research before jumping into such an extreme diet. Don't just believe what a movie tells you! I wish I had done so. I have permanent health problems from nutrient deficiencies. (I'm actually convalescing right...
  16. YES! He is fantastic. My friend Sara gave me his book, and I have to say that was the huge turning point in my health. Prior to that I'd been gluten free but still really sick. I'd seen multiple doctors, who all just wanted to give me drugs for my pain. He's not a quack, he is an incredibly intelligent medical practitioner who knows what works. Over the...
  17. This year I'm super lucky because I'm spending Christmas with my parents, who are now on a gluten-free paleo diet to treat my step-mom's neuropathy. So we're all eating together, yay! But, a couple years ago I went to Ohio to spend the holidays with my husband's parents. It was actually the second time I'd visited since going gluten-free, and the first...
  18. I had left-over bone broth soup with sweet potatoes, cauliflower, onion, cabbage, and grass-fed beef. And a dollop of soft goat cheese added on top. YUM.
  19. I have tons of recipes on my pintrest page... but the admins will probably ding me if I post the link, so PM me if you want it! Here are my favs: Coconut pizza crust: Open Original Shared Link Zuchinni Noodles: Open Original Shared Link And of course I eat lots of bone broth... the food of the gods! lol I made an amazing sweet potato, cauliflower...
  20. I had the same thing happen to me. I was really sick for awhile, and my fibro went nuts too. Don't worry, it's totally normal! Things that might be causing it, and contributing to it: - Gluten withdrawal. Gluten activates the same part of your brain that opiates do. A large percentage of folks that go gluten-free get withdrawal symptoms. - Detoxing...
  21. Oh honey, I feel your pain! I had the same thing happen... after going "gluten free" I also noticed I reacted to other grains. I'd bet money that you react to rice, sorghum, all grains. We all do, it's just that some of us notice and some of us don't. And that includes the starch... it's best to stay away from all forms of the foods you react to. Continuing...
  22. I've been on a grain-free diet for about two years now, which has done wonders for my health. I know from research that all grains have gluten, and people with severe gluten sensitivities/celiac should avoid all of them... And I've found that rice and corn and even quinoa effect me, but I didn't think it was *as bad* as wheat gluten. That is until this week...
  23. What were your symptoms? Some meds can cause inflammation in the GI tract, and cause nutritional deficiencies. If you are interested, there are natural ways to lower high blood pressure. This website is a fantastic resource for nutritional and health information: Open Original Shared Link I also found this article on how a study found that a blood pressure...
  24. GFinDC- It is the conventional wisdom that only the gluten in wheat barley rye and oats are problematic. However, a lot of researchers and health practitioners are now finding that all grains trigger reactions in those who have Celiac and are gluten sensitive. For me, and many other people, we didn't begin to heal until we cut out all the grains. Here...
  25. I highly suggest seeing a holistic nutritionist or naturopathic doctor for more help on what you need and what to eat. If you don't know any in your area, this woman does long-distance consultations (and is expensive, but the information is worth it!) Open Original Shared Link I also found my fantastic chiropractor on this website, and he helped with my...
