    I realize this topic may not fit this forum since I'm writing about Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE). Please feel free to delete this post if it doesn't fit here. EoE requires a repeat endoscopy to assess allergic response (eosinophil count). I am non-Celiac Gluten Sensitive and sensitive to dairy.

    I guess I just took Budesonide two days. My throat is less tight but the experiences at night were definitely unpleasant. I'm guessing it was caused by the steroid. I didn't take it yesterday and slept ok last night.

    Thank you Knitty Kitty. I started taking Budesonide three days ago. I woke up each night gasping for breath (one time each night). My mouth was very dry. My doctor said to stop taking it until I see the GI doctor again later this month. I have ongoing bloating and chest discomfort. I'm wondering if I should stop the probiotic for a while too.     I am gluten sensitive and I have eosinophilic esophagitis. I ate a meal about five weeks ago that led to a strong reaction (diarrhea) later that night. I'm guessing the restaurant got it wrong and the meal probably contained gluten and/or dairy. Since that time, I've experienced a lot of gas/bloating and discomfort.     I just finished my appointment with the GI doctor. He showed me pictures of my esophagus. He said the ridges indicate ongoing inflammation. He said gluten and dairy may not be the (only) cause. He said I could stop the proton pump inhibitor because I do not experience acid reflux. He recommended a swallowed oral steroid. I am more drawn to diet modifications...

    Just to be clear, I had been gluten free for multiple years prior to this endoscopy (with the exception of the recent exposure which occurred in one meal).

    Hello, I'm wondering if one exposure to gluten is enough to change biopsy results during an endoscopy. My recent endoscopy showed some indication of inflammation. I will receive details during my follow-up appointment tomorrow. But I'm wondering if the inflammation could have occurred as a result of a gluten exposure which occurred just a few weeks ago...

    Thank you for sharing this article! Interesting that I have a family history of alcoholism and a craving for sweets. I'm surprised more hasn't been written about the role of sugar with EoE. I'm scheduled to see an integrative doctor in about six weeks. I will be sure to discuss this article with him.
