  1. This post was very helpful. I am going to keep good track of my potassium. Is that something the Dr can check. Or in your case do you just make sure you are eating some each day. How much potassium to you eat? Like a banana a day?
  2. Thanks! I should take a yoga class. Those always help my mood.
  3. Yes, my dad also has HBP. His lifestyle is the opposite of mine, but I do know that genetics play a huge role. My surprise is that this has hit me now after a large weigh loss and healthy eating/exercising.
  4. Hi everyone. My blood pressure at the doctor last week was a very high 180/90. My BP has always been in the 130/70 range and this spike happened sometime in the last 5 weeks. My Doc put me on a beta blocker, but my bp is still high. I was diagnosed with Celiac about 7 months ago. Since then I have lost 20-25 lbs. I eat very healthy. I eat no processed...
  5. I am in the exact same boat as you. I am newly gluten free and about 3 months in I started to get very painful GERD (more indigestion than anything). Saw my Dr and it turns out I was having issues with CC! I thought for sure i was being careful, but I was new to it all. My culprit was gluten free items made on shared equipment. I just did not think I was...
  6. also, iodine has never crossed my mind either. I do eat lots of seafood, sea salt on food too. Where can I read up on this?
  7. I used to live in SF area. I lived in San Mateo. I move to the midwest. I miss it!! I wonder the other food sensitivities. My next step is to me hard core and write things down. I wonder if I should do another elimination diet? As for other conditions: They checked my thyroid when I was undiagnosed with celiac 9 months ago. I have heard that sometimes...
  8. I have posted a few times. I am still in the process of understanding my Celiac. But there have been some new symptoms that I would like to get some opinions on. I have been gluten free for 3 months now. (Diagnosed with Celiac at that time as well) Overall, I had great improvement. My foggy hear cleared up. My nausea went away. My D went away. My weight...
  9. Good tips. I need to try cutting out all milk, cream, ice cream to see how that works.
  10. I have been gluten-free for just over 3 months. I noticed a change for the positive right away. I am super careful about my diet and eat mostly at home. I eat mainly whole foods too. (basics non processed) I have noticed having increased D here and there, but could never figure out what was causing it. I started to suspect dairy. I went two days without...
  11. I love baking, but I wonder if it's just easier to buy what I need. We have all the good stores here to get my bread. But I like the idea of making/baking again.
  12. I hope this is the correct place to post this. But I wanted to start making my gluten free breads at home and wanted opinions on the best bread machine on the market with a gluten free cycle. Anyone have one they love/hate? Is it worth the investment?
  13. I just thought of something that I heard from my dietician but never tried it. She was saying that before you start a round of antibiotics for SIBO you should prep your body as if you were doing a colonoscopy. Meaning, fast the day before and take a laxative to clear out your gut. (I would totally ask your Dr about that before you tried it. ) She also...
  14. There is a good forum out there for SIBO on the Yahoo boards. You may want to explore there as well as here for more advice on what people are doing.(sibonation ) I had SIBO before I was diagnosed with Celiac. I went on 2 rounds of antibiotics to treat it as well as a probiotic. The results were not very positive, but I did get better in time. I think my...
  15. I did read somewhere that sometimes a traumatic event or illness sometimes triggers it. (Meaning you always had it, but without symptoms) I was trying to figure out how this all started. It's been a crazy year. But from what I have seen, it sometimes takes a lot longer to figure out, so I am thankful. Both my reg Doc and GI looked at Celiac very quickly...
