  1. I decided last night to use some Al Fresco chicken sausage in place of ham. Also I AM using Simply Potatoes and they ARE gluten free. It doesn't say so on the label, but I double checked their website and it says they are gluten free. I have regular old potatoes I could shred, but I decided I want an easy breakfast. The casserole looks like it will come...
  2. I fasted today until sunset and then I went out and got a frosty from Wendys. It was the only thing that sounded good to me! Besides I will spend the next couple days eating lots. Tommorrow for breakfast/brunch I plan to make (turkey) bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches on Udi's bagels. Then I will spend the day making dairy free pumpkin custard pies and...
  3. Nope, it sounds like you have a problem with gluten. You could test it with something like cream or wheat or tricuits to make sure it's not something else (greasy food?), but normal people do not have any problem going back to eating gluten.
  4. Taco soup in the crockpot and oven baked corn chips made from corn tortillas.
  5. Yesterday I made Morrocan chicken and rice. I didn't feel like cooking tonight. I had a bowl of popcorn while watching a movie with hubby. Hubby ate some leftover morrocan chicken.
  6. McCormick's single ingredient spices are all safe. Here's some recent info on Mccormicks: http://www.gfreefoodie.com/are-mccormick-spices-gluten-free/ The main thing to think about is if you have old spices in your cabinet and have ever in the past dipped a measuring spoon in them that has been coated with flour dust from using it on the flour before measuring...
  7. Tonight I'm making turkey burgers and oven fries. I made my own gluten-free buns for the first time using King Arthur gluten-free bread mix. They look more like biscuits, but I think they will be yummy.
  8. I love Mark Bittman's cookbooks! And this thread has me wanting soup, so today I will make some potato soup and broccoli soup.
  9. Stir fried beef with snow peas inspired by this recipe: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/10/beef-with-snow-peas/ Although I will use Coconut Secret in place of the soy sauce and onion instead of the scallions.
  10. We had chicken parm and steamed green beans with almonds.
  11. Sure! It's really easy, I don't really follow a recipe but I can tell you how to make it: 1 can (or about two cups) chicken broth 1-2 eggs 1 green onion, chopped gluten-free Soy sauce (optional, I used Coconut Secrets instead, but I have left out the soy in the past) Heat broth to a slow rolling boil. Beat eggs in a bowl with a wisk or fork. ...
  12. Tonight I'm planning chicken fried rice and egg drop soup.
  13. Well as I predicted I didn't feel like cooking last night, so we had burgers and sweet potato fries instead. One good thing, my DH went to the store and bought me some Schar gluten-free buns. It was my first time trying them and they were pretty good. I usually just do the burger without a bun or use lettuce wedges. Tonight is meatloaf if I can get my...
  14. Ugh! Went out to Olive Garden last night and got glutened somehow. I got their gluten free pasta to try for the first time. The pasta was actually good, in fact I suspect they gave me regular pasta because this did not taste like any gluten free pasta I have tried. My first clue should have been when the waitress asked if "gluten free" was the same thing...
  15. Tonight we're having Kung Pao chicken with fried mung bean noodles (I'm getting tired or rice, lol).
  16. Gluten free pizza! Using King Arthur's recipeand flour mix. This is only my second time making it. It was really good the first time though.
  17. I made turkey soupfrom all the left over Thanksgiving turkey and biscuits from gluten free bisquick. The soup I have made before--it was super yum and perfect for a cold day. The biscuits I made for the first time. They were the best gluten-free biscuits I have made but I probably won't make them again. They had an eggy taste (I've never put egg in regular...
  18. I am extremely sensitive. I got glutened by sharing a water bottle with my husband once after he had been eating gluteny food all day. My home is completely gluten free because I can't stay healthy if there's gluten in my home. I had to get all new pans, cutting boards, etc. Something else I wanted to mention about olive oil. If you buy olive oil...
  19. Yes this is true, light olive oil is better than virgin for cooking though. Virgin oils can change in flavor (and not always in a good way) when heated too high. Use a good extra virgin oil for salads and Light or regular Olive oil for cooking and you should be okay.
  20. Wow, I never would have thought to worry about that. I've been using Bertolli Extra Light Olive Oil without problems. I just checked their website and it says their olive oil is gluten free and 100% olive oil. And there are no "processed in the same facility/equipment...." statements on the bottle or the website. The company doesn't make other oils so...
  21. Raven what type of allergy testing did you have done? If I were to go get an allergy test for foods what would I ask for? I used to have seasonal allergies but they were not really diagnosed. I just always sneezed and had nasal drip and itchy eyes during the high pollen season. Since going gluten free my seasonal allergies were much less this year. I...
  22. This is interesting. I am also allergic to shellfish but I'm not sure I should try it. Perhaps I should get an allergy test done? It was diagnosed when I was a teenager so it's been a long time since I tried any. I am still sensitive to soy and most dairy (can do low-lactose cheese and yogurt now). And my gluten reactions are worse than before going...
  23. I know! That's why I'm asking. I'm not about to go testing it by eating a bunch of pork. But now I wonder....
