  1. Pretty much. Northern Canada. Same thing. The other day when it hit -10 people were walking around with spring jackets and some even wearing shorts!! To us -10 is nothing. We find -30s very cold and -40s downright unbearable. I live on the prairies so windchill is almost always a factor, too. Very windy with very few trees. So, it can be -40 but with...
  2. Sylvia! I've missed you around these here parts. Welcome home!
  3. Um...we've not warmed up to -10 since the middle of October except for one day recently. It is usually about -22 but next week is to be -30 and colder. We'll likely go through the usual -30 to -40 for ages. Not looking forward to it one little bit.
  4. Most definitely. In fact, if you like them, perhaps you and I could make them for the rest of the group while they go man hunting. I'd rather cook. And the bones can go to the dogs only after I've finished with gnawing on them. I'm such a bone gnawer. My husband knows that all his ribs and such come to me before they get tossed.
  5. After we do the beach thing can we go to a culinary school or old library or museum in Europe? Sorry but I am not a beach person. I love the sea but not the beach. Or we could do this - whilst you are obtaining the men, I can cook! I love the reserved, intellectual, bookish and cultural types who are good in the kitchen. Sound ok with you girls?
  6. See? "Thinger" can come in quite handy.
  7. Have you seen her since she lost a lot of weight? She went down from a size 18 to 12 and looks fanastic (she always did in my opinion). BTW, notice my food porn profile photo?
  8. I'm so curious to hear your thoughs on this, Sora. It tastes as though it has about 390 layers of depth to it, yet it is simple to make. One of those things that seems as though you've slaved over it all day (and no need to tell anyone you didn't!).
  9. How lovely. Even the spinach which I dearly love!
  10. Then from now on I will be more descriptive of what I am cooking. What looks to be a simple dish in words can sometimes involve lengthy and interesting components. Just wait til you see my plans for tomorrow's dinner!
  11. As we haven't had them for about two weeks, I thought it was about time to begin tormenting you! Here. Let me describe them... Between the slices I will be placing sliced garlic, bay leaves, fresh thyme leaves and season with salt and freshly-ground black pepper. Then I will slowly drizzle wonderfully zippy green olive oil directly from olive trees...
  12. Irish, love your stakeout photo! Pretty slick. For dinner I am making: Sole Piccata with Roasted Grapes Hasselback Potatoes with Bay Maple Bourbon Glazed Roasted Carrots and Radishes
  13. So true. So, since I'm really hurting, I need to laugh more at this moment. My husband is downstairs and once he comes up I know he'll make me laugh. He is so very good at it. But until then, do or say something funny. Go on! Not wanting to take Tylenol #4 with codeine.
  14. Yes! Exactly. Aggressive. Again, I could have summed it up in one word. Ah, well...
  15. Thanks. It is so true that mannerisms, tone and even personality at times do not get across as you would like. And usually in the evenings I am in so much pain that my synapses have shorted out.
  16. Me, too. I am extremely passionate about what I like as well as adamantly passionate about what I do not like at times, too!
  17. Sorry - I worded my thoughts incorrectly. The others I am on can become heated because they are so intensely passionate about food ingredients and such ilk. Passionate to the point of anger. This is calmer, less intense and more relaxed (generally speaking). Believe me, I am passionate about fun! And food, too. It is great to be passionate in what...
  18. Cute about the "bridge" group. I should refer to this thread as "bridge" when talking about it to my husband so I don't have to say ten other words. Lazy? A resounding yes. This is the first forum I have joined that is really and truly fun. The other few forums I participate on are about travel and food and quite serious and passionate.
  19. Since joining this forum I feel far more verbose than ever before for some strange reason. It really leaves me gobsmacked.
  20. That sounds incredible. I have not made Thai omelettes but you have inspired me to do so. I just told my husband about it and we're going to make some this weekend. Sriracha sauce....mmmmmmmmmm...
  21. When I food shop I am in the zone. Sometimes I get tears in my eyes when I see the amazing produce and exotic ingredients that I have only read/dreamed of. Can you imagine you and I taking over NYC? I have not been there but would fly there just for the food. You and I could do some serious damage. "Higgledy piggledy" and "gobsmacked" are amongst...
  22. I bet you were the only one here would have thought inappropriate things. Hee hee... Some of us are pure as the driven snow.
