  1. How many communes will we have? I'd LOVE to make the sauces and would aim for 100 choices! We could do it. Seriously.
  2. Oh, yes. I could re-create that and so could you. What I would do is oven roast tomatoes with fresh thyme, season and blend with a chile en adobo and homemade mayo. I do this type of thing all the time! I almost never buy condiments or sauces or dips. There is just something soooooo darned good about fries and dip!
  3. The vinegar just adds a lovely acidic quality that is so needed otherwise the jam would almost be cloyingly sweet. Sort of like adding salt to cookies or lemon juice when making jam, both of which are necessary. Man, I am a condiment addict! Seriously. Make my own mustards, numerous ketchups, BBQ sauces, nuoc cham, everything except for Worcestershire...
  4. Indeed I do recall how much you love your good ol' CP! If you try it let us know - I'm curious what you would think about it.
  5. Exactly. I've tasted worse things, that is for certain.
  6. Balsamic but next time want to try cider. I've made other recipes before, too, but this is the simplest.
  7. Oh my yes. You'd better triple the batch! I found myself eating bacon jam straight from the jar last week. It somehow managed to leap into my mouth. I couldn't help it.
  8. Why, certainly! You absolutely MUST make this. http://leitesculinaria.com/82690/recipes-bacon-jam.html
  9. Digging out from another snowstorm. ARGH!!! But I get to cook which makes me happy. Tonight we are going to Thailand: Yum Woon Sen (Spicy Glass Noodles with Crispy Pork) Thai Marinated Cucumbers Am also making chile oil today. That ought to heat things up a bit!
  10. I would gladly come on over for fish with you any day! Since our trips overseas my husband has fallen in love with fish in a big way which makes me a happy girl. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE fish (done properly).
  11. IH, your meal isn't exactly bland or hideous, either!
  12. That's how it is up here in Alberta. Just a little different than usual...
  13. Miso-Glazed Blue Cod en Papillote Carrot Puree with BACON Jam Roasted Asparagus with Lemon and Caper Vinaigrette
  14. Yes! The chairs are waiting to be filled. Just wondering when you all are coming! If you look closely at the picture you'll see that the biggest and saggiest parts of my thighs are very well camouflaged by the snow. Same with my tummy. Plus Sora sure knows how to photoshop!
  15. Irish, just go on thinking my thighs are smaller...
  16. Sora, I can't stand it! That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny! How did you know where to look for me? Wait til I tell my husband you found me. I am as white as that; in fact, I blend in with the snow quite well. Snow can be great camouflage. And I do have glasses and brown hair. That bikini only comes out in winter. You should see what I wear...
  17. Sora, you MUST come! It would not be the same without you. We'll just have to come up with some interesting "chores" for you, too! Actually, you love cooking also - you can cook with those of us who love to do it.
  18. As you can tell, I'm not GottaSki responding here ( ) but what the heck...try this jerky recipe. Dead easy and even more deadly tasting. http://www.food.com/recipe/homemade-beef-jerky-42272
  19. How are you doing your beans and steak? Inquiring minds want details!
  20. It was on the news and a documentary - will do some digging to see if I can find the info to post. It was very interesting and the first I had heard of the strong opposition to it. Sometimes you have to wonder whom to believe? ETA: Here is one short article - will do some more looking. http://www.cbc.ca/ne...ermography.html One more...this...
  21. My Mom has always called me for cooking advice. I was the cook in the family since I was very young. Friends and people I don't even know call me several times a week re food-related questions. Love it! Tonight we are traveling to India: Authentic Chicken Curry (with homemade Madras and mango chutney) with Toasted Almonds Curried Potatoes with Mustard...
  22. Oh, so sorry about cancer running in your family. My dad died of cancer, too. Just saw a show on TV about thermography and it is now being outlawed in areas in Canada because it gives so many false positives and false negatives. Brand new research as of a few days ago. Not to scare you or anything but I would personally think twice about it. Many...
  23. We go through some crazy stuff, don't we? Yes, I do have trigger points there which are hyper sensitive. My massage therapist massages my pecs each week which feels so good and loosens things up, at least for the week. I sort of mentioned frequent massages to my husband and he didn't exactly shudder at the thought, nor did he flee...
