  1. Roast Shoulder of Lamb with Garlic, Rosemary and Thyme Celeriac and Potato Mash with Grainy Mustard and Roasted Garlic Orange Spiked Peas with Mint Quick Cucumber Pickle
  2. Oh, yum! Yours certainly was healthier than mine. By the way, is there any way to join Pinterest without going through FB? I do not have an account nor do I want one but Pinterest looks, well, interesting!
  3. Oh, how sweet you are! Truly. Thank you - it was a lovely day with a great dinner. It so happens that we do have a big chunk of cake left with your name on it! How shall I send it? Collect? Fax? Cooking is one of my several passions but it is tiptop of the list. I do love to travel as well - in six itty bitty weeks we leave for our house in...
  4. Simple tonight (tomorrow is another fab dinner!). Poblanos stuffed with Manchego, Monterey Jack and Creamy Chorizo Ragu Bay Scented Steamed Rice Corn Salsa ...and...delicious homemade birthday cake! It is a very moist white cake with toasted coconut buttercream and shaved coconut on top.
  5. Hope I'm not too late to wish you a very hapy gluten-free birthday and a wonderful year! xoxo Marilyn

  6. Many thanks for the good wishes. I so look forward to dinner! Fat, calories and cholesterol don't count tonight.
  7. Thank you, Simona. Make sure to save a piece of your uncle's birthday cake for me! Oh, so sad you were sick and now...uh...that. I get so sick then, too, with such bad cramps and stuff. You probably don't want to hear this but tomorrow I am making a delicious birthday cake for myself - three layers of moist white cake with a toasted coconut...
  8. Grilled Marinated Spicy Moroccan Lamb Chops with Yogurt Sauce Roasted Butternut Squash Risotto with Mint Roasted Asparagus Puree with Bacon Jam Cinnamon, Cumin and Brown Sugar Roasted Chickpeas Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with Raspberry Gelee Should be ok.
  9. Thank you so much! I appreciate it. It is sort of nice to feel spoiled!
  10. I would be happy to. I will be home late afternoon (to cook my birthday dinner!) but will post it tomorrow. It is really very good. Have you had the rice cakes before? They are about 1/4" thick, maybe a touch thicker, and round like cutting off a log. They are one of my favourite new things. They are very chewy as they are thick but so interesting.
  11. I will be having leftovers from last night. Now I am planning a WOW dinner for Friday night as it is my birthday and I would rather cook than eat out. Not that there are any safe places for me to eat at within a 3-hour radius, anyway, but still. The protein will be rack of lamb. We just got half a local free range spring lamb done up for us so we have...
  12. Awesome! Love to hear it. It opens up a whole new world, doesn't it?
  13. Thai Sweet and Spicy Shrimp with Rice Cakes (the chewy rice noodle kind) and Spicy Thai Lime Sauce Stir Fried Vegetables with Toasted Almonds Strawberries
  14. Still out of town but am having homemade pizza made earlier. It has pepperoni and lots and lots of aged cheeses. And some raw cucumber to satisfy my healthy side. Tomorrow am going home to cook and can't wait. We're having Thai.
  15. U N B E L I E V A B L E ! ! ! This makes me speechless and furious and so very sad for you. When I see my doctor I take a whole list with me and we go through it carefully. He always asks, "Is there anything else you'd like to know or have questions about?" He really takes his time. In a way it can be annoying because that means very long waits...
  16. I SHOULD be avoiding sugar and am trying, actually, but once in awhile I make myself some yummy treats. Making caramel is actually fun but if you are not extremely careful, one second it will be golden brown and the next nearly black so you must remove it from the heat at the perfect time. So far I've never had to deal with it burned, thankfully. Your...
  17. I love to travel too but what's the point if one can't eat anything.....do you just eat what you can and enjoy the scenery? I want to eat what the country has to offer..whine, whine.

  18. OK - am driving home this evening to cook. I will be making comfort food: James Beard's Homestyle Meatloaf Roasted Garlic Potato Puree with Caramelized Shallots White Wine Braised Brussels Sprouts Caramel Pudding
  19. It is a lovely getaway - large log house, stone fireplace - as easy as it gets. And the snow is melting a bit today so it is warm outside! Mark Bittman is a credible cook and food writer. Thanks for posting the photo - it surely about the same size as our Croatia kitchen! Makes me feel better. Our Canada house's kitchen is gigantic so I am quite...
  20. Tiny kitchens do make a difference - I know. Our kitchen in Croatia is the size of a closet and it stresses me to cook in it. So we do almost all our cooking/grilling/baking outside. I think you are doing very well in spite of your tiny kitchen! Oh, and my wording of dinner was unclear. Before I came out here to housesit I made up the potatoes...
  21. Still away from home and am cooking for myself: Ricotta Gnocchi with Browned Butter and Crispy Sage Rosemary Roasted Radishes
  22. Still away from home, housesitting so do not have all my stuff accessible. I am very limited but am making: Twice-Stuffed Potatoes with Pancetta and Smoked Gouda Seared Pork Chop with Pomegranate Reduction Cucumber Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette
  23. Very interesting, IH. This problem is so beyond my understanding. Just saw my doctor today and he is so knowledgable and aware as I mentioned before. This time my BP didn't go up too badly when he walked into the room!
  24. How is all this possible? As I read through the posts it sounds as though you have been living in a nightmare. Are the doctor duds from all over the world gathered together and shipped to the US?
  25. I really enjoy making spring rolls. They are so easy yet taste complicated. I love that you can make hundreds of fillings and sauces. They are so versatile! People would be amazed at how well those with celiac can eat. The meal you just mentioned is naturally gluten free but some do not think of it that way.
