  1. Thanks! Sometimes when you have a bad cold you feel as though you deserve to be spoiled to bits and waited on. Still sick today so made gluten-free crispy crust pizza with all sorts of delicious toppings. It was incredible.
  2. I've got a bad cold so took it very easy today. I made Chicken a la King with steamed peas. Strawberries with balsamic vinegar for dessert.

  7. Irish, I can tolerate most dairy! YAY!!!!! I cannot drink regular milk but I happily use lactose-free milk (and yogurt). Feta still bothers me, too, but I can do aged cheeses and yes, I did ricotta with only a few tummy rumblings. I do not eat young cheese very much at all. In fact, I try not to eat any sort of cheese more than 2-3 times per week just...
  8. Hi! Cougie, the long red thingy is just a lobster tentacle for esthetics.

Hi, Marilyn! Doesn't it look fantastic? We'll be in Croatia again in ten little weeks.

  9. I'm foflmao. I just popped in to ask what the profile picture is. I thougt it was a cherry dessert too!

  10. I so feel for you and your doctor shopping, not to mention your health problems. In addition to my doctor being gorgeous, he is compassionate, spends a lot of time with me even though the waiting room is full and is a superb listener. He is willing to accept suggestions, too. Plus he is knowledgable. So I consider myself extremely fortunate, especially...
  11. Irish, I know people who say they could not go to my doctor because he is TOO hot. But the great thing is he has no clue. I just don't like seeing him for, well, you know. Maybe he has a brother in the U.S. for your sake.
  12. Where the heck do you find these doctors?? In Canada our wait times are atrocious (i.e. I had to wait 18 months to see an orthopedic surgeon) but I have not heard of this celiac stupidity here. I would guess it does happen but man, have I been lucky. My family doctor is very aware and knowledgable, not to mention incredibly good looking. But that...
  13. Yesterday: Calvados Apple Cider - Glazed Baby Back Ribs Ricotta Rosti Roasted Asparagus drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice Horseradish Brandy Deviled Eggs
  14. Baby Back Ribs with Memphis Rub and (homemade) Spicy Sweet Barbecue Sauce Roasted Chili Fries with Melted Aged Cheddar and Scallions (planks cut into 1/4" wide slices - they were nice and crispy) Sauteed Brussels Sprouts with Pancetta and Crispy Capers Homemade Banana Pecan Bread (I roasted the bananas and pecans first to really concentrate and accentuate...
  15. I made: Miso Glazed Cod (it caramelized so nicely!) Grilled Asparagus with Lemon Aioli Creamy Cheese Grits Frozen grapes (frozen grapes are one of my favourite snacks of all time)
  16. We are having delicious jambalaya with andouille, chicken and shrimp. Unsure of the side at this point but for dessert I made a rum cake with salted caramel frosting.
  17. Still getting back into things after being away for a couple of weeks. Simply smoky chipotle, black bean and pancetta soup with lime creme fraiche. Frozen green grapes for dessert. Tomorrow will be a different story!
  18. Thanks, IH! It is great to be missed! And here is a giant helping for you...
  19. I've been away for two weeks and am finally back home. Tonight we are having Japanese: Braised Chicken Thighs with Soy Balsamic Glaze Gomaee (spinach with sesame dressing) Steamed Rice Daikon and Nori Salad
  20. Thanks! I am actually on vacation visiting family so have not posted for ages! I miss it, too.
  21. It's upsidedown crab?! Wow!!! So whats the long red thingy! ( still think it looks like some kind of crazy dipped cherry dessert...Its hard to tell the scale from the photo)...LOL....I still think it looks yummy! Have you eaten it before?! Is it something you've made?!

  22. It took a long time but I managed to get through it. I had to force myself but the food slowly crept down and I didn't vomit or anything.
  23. Thanks! They are. All my siblings have wee children so are always happy when someone takes over in the kitchen. One of my sisters and my mom refuse to cook dinner when I am there which is actually sad because I do not critique others' meals, just mine, as I strive to improve. Thankfully they do lunch but now that I am diagnosed with celiac that changes...
  24. Oh, thanks so much. Tonight we ate out at a restaurant I trust. The chef's wife has celiac so most of the menu is naturally gluten free (like high-end restaurants are) and he knows all about CC. This is what I had: Truffled potato chips (amuse bouche - husband had house bread with tapenade - I love it that they bring celiacs yummy things, too) Scallop...
