  1. Is this recipe your favourite crust recipe thus far? So glad you can have cheese. I went lactose free for a few months and am stilling drinking lactose-free milk and eating lactose-free yogurt but am eating lots of cheeses (especially asiago, chevre, Parmesan, pecorino...). I am going to try a new pizza crust recipe from the Culinary Institute of America...
  2. He'd better or he'd be in serious trouble!
  3. I, too, prefer the N. Carolinian sauce for pulled pork. Last time I made pulled pork with pureed mango and it was amazing! I just made a big batch of Kansas City stype BBQ sauce today. I know that so many states in the US are serious about their grilling! We are in Canada, too, but not to that extent. Too bad! Man, I love Osso Bucco! Have you done...
  4. My husband tells me almost daily how grateful he is! But I love to cook and bake so much that it is a pleasure. If I open a restaurant you will be the first to be invited! Thanks for the kind words.
  5. Tonight I am making homemade gluten-free ravioli filled with my own mint ricotta and homemade pumpkin seed pesto, finished with a drizzle of pumpkin seed oil. Microgreens from the garden with apple cider vinegar and sumac vinaigrette. Homemade gluten-free bread with garlic chive butter.
  6. For some reason that strikes me as so very cute! Not to mention delicious. Pulled pork is just so darned comforting.
  7. Here's a big giant hug ...just because!! Thanks.

  8. Insomnia is truly a horrid thing. Like you, I am lucky if I have one good sleep per week. However, for some reason (perhaps the B12 sublingual and/or B complex and/or Vitamin D3) when I do sleep well (rare) I feel like I could conquer the world. I am full of energy. But with chronic pain it is so difficult to get in a comfortable position and fall asleep...
  9. Tonight we had yummy leftovers from last evening (Swedish meatballs et. al. with the addition of freshly-baked gluten-free bread slathered with homemade strawberry jam). This weekend we are dogsitting in the country and are taking things along to make the following for tomorrow night: Cider Brined Roast Chicken with Saffron, Citrus and Honey Glaze Roast...
  10. My husband is watching the Canucks win tonight! I will be at our Celiac meeting so will miss the Canucks winning.
  11. Swedish Meatballs with a touch of Red Currant Jelly Duchesse Potatoes with Roasted Black Garlic Molasses Roasted Cherry Tomatoes Shaved Fennel Salad with Blue Cheese, Candied Walnuts and Vanilla Bean Vinaigrette
  12. It was very flavourful and fun. Sorry you missed it - perhaps tonight?
  13. I have luscious flank steak marinating in a Thai-inspired lemongrass kaffir lime marinade. We are going to grill to medium rare, slice thinly against the grain and place in cellophone wrappers with cucumber, carrot and radish matchsticks, tiny microgreens from the garden and vermicelli noodles and drizzle with Thai dressing. Celeriac and green apple slaw...
  14. Lemongrass Shrimp with Pomegranate Glaze Ginger Rice with Thai Basil Warm Mushroom Salad with Toasted Hazelnuts and Black Garlic Warm Banana Peanut Butter Cake with Chocolate Hazelnut Ganache
  15. As pork and apple go together superbly, why not simply grill or roast them and brush with an apple glaze or applesauce and/or apple slices? One of my favourite things with pork sausage is Bangers and Mash with Caramelized Onions. Since time is short you could still do the mash while the pork is grilling or roasting. You could make a quick pan sauce with...
  16. gluten-free artisan bratwurst with homemade hot dog buns, homemade spicy honey mustard I made the other day and caramelized onions Creamed corn with Bourbon Chipotle double roasted potatoes with chipotle en adobo Watermelon cubes with aged balsamic
  17. Nothing thrilling here tonight. My husband was in a golf tournament so all I did was cut up some very good artisan cheese, pulled out the proscuitto and drizzled both with a fabulous young and very green olive oil from Croatia. Ate it with homemade gluten-free focaccia. To finish just cherries. Much lazier than usual but sometimes that is just how life...
  18. Man, I love authentic ethnic Indian food! Good onion bhajis and naan bread are...well...pretty amazing. We have curried goat with red and white rice. Individual strawberry shortcakes. Nothing fancy - just good eats!
  19. Great to see someone as in love with nettles as I am! I have yet to use them in pesto (thanks for the idea!) but I do make at least 10 kinds of pestos (i.e. mint, arugula). The walnut almond butter intrigues me as well. I grow my own garden, forage in our Croatia garden/hedgerows/sea (am a Master Gardener) and make all my own condiments, etc. Thanks...
  20. The Jambalaya is incredible - we are having it again tonight with homemade gluten-free focaccia bread and grilled asparagus. Untraditional accompaniments, I know! At the moment it is only +2 degrees. It froze last night, unfortunately, so am baking today to warm up the house (don't want to turn the furnace on in June).
  21. Oh, yes! I know what you mean. I did not realize that is what they are called. Learned something new today!! The lamb burger sounds incredible. Did you happen to have a gluten-free bun, too, or did you have it another way? Lamb....mmmmmmmmmm....
  22. Oh, what a treat!! They sound wonderful. What are Lorne sausages?? Our sausage guy is from Cumberland originally - he makes wonderful gluten-free sausages. Our favourites are lamb with rosemary and Cumberland. His pork with sage is also yummy. He is considering doing pancetta! That would be awesome. This guy lives three hours away from here but...
  23. We live in northern Alberta but thankfully not in the area where there are catastrophic forest fires. Actually, that puts things into perspective. This is unusually cold, even for here. To speak in gardening terms, we have on average only 87 frost-free days per year and are Zone 1a. No wonder I cannot wait to live in Croatia!!
