  1. Lisa, that photo is breathtaking. You are both GORGEOUS!! I am so very happy for you.
  2. My mom is a dreadful cook. I usually use recipes for baking but not for cooking. It just comes instinctively to some methinks. I am skilled at it. Numbers and accounting? No clue!!
  3. To my meatballs I add a pamade which is bread chunks soaked in light cream. Lots of fresh thyme and freshly-grated nutmeg if they are Finnish or Swedish. And dried ground porcinis or porcinis that have been reconstituted in Port, Sherry, whatever. Sometimes Umami #5. And caramelized onions. But not all these at once!! Oh, and sometimes bacon or pancetta...
  4. But the photos of you with giraffes tell a different story. You look like you are about 12!!! Amazing.
  5. Grilled lamb that has a wet rub of lots of garlic, fresh thyme and parsley and lemon juice Sweet potato fries with blueberry "ketchup" Grilled haloumi drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with fresh herbs, Parmesan shards and lots of black pepper
  6. How was the graduation? Congratulations! Did you have a restful day today? Reminder: Make the peach dessert thinger I mentioned up thread. You really, really should.
  7. Blech. Never been a beer fan but used to make a mean beef Wellington with Guiness. Anyhow, tonight is: Grilled porterhouse steak, 2" thick Herbed garlic roast potatoes Turkish grated carrot salad Grilled nectarines with Greek yogurt, toasted pine nuts and drizzled with wild acacia honey Tomorrow? Lamb.
  8. Another avid bookaholic! I cannot be without books surrounding me. My eReader is awesome, too, but I still prefer the feel and smell of paper books. Anyway, each year I probably read about 300 books. Panic hits if there is not a book in the vehicle or my purse. I too love classics such as Crime and Punishment. My favourite authors are Daphne Du Maurier...
  9. This bugged me all last night. How the heck did I spell cabana incorrectly yesterday???
  10. I craved something sour on my way back to the acreage so bought some fruity quishy sour candies that contain liquidy stuff inside. Not only are they NOT the least bit sour, but the liquidy stuff is not as promised.
  11. ...and addictive. Why did I not become an Emoticonian before?????
  12. Tonight is a shrimp stir fry with Jasmine rice. Some sour squirty candy thingers on the side. (They SUCK. So not worth the calories. ) I will be home Wednesday night and will resume proper cooking! None of this dang candy crap. >(///)<
  13. WHEW! I was nervous there for a minute. Just thinking about a kabana boy clown gives me the shivers (and not in a good way).
  14. A frozen roast would make a killer blunt object! Sounds nice and tidy to me. Agatha Christie would approve.
  15. Yesterday I was a bit thick in the head. It takes a lot of energy to housesit!!
  16. I just make masa tortilla shells, cut into eighths, season how I want (tons of yummy combos) and bake.
  17. I like to make my own chips. :-)
  18. te name="Adalaide" post="874799" timestamp="1371345909"]And oh the horror of your Bolognese on day two as meat nachos? I'm sure that you could get any number of people lined up and paying for that!
  19. Oh, horrors! Ticks are loathesome. I found one on me, too, but it didn't eat me. Feel better soon, K? That little bug thinger is too cute for a tick! Just where on earth do you people find these awesome emoticons? Dinner was tediously uncreative. Still out in the country housesitting so I made do with my Bolognese with which I made meat nachos...
  20. They really are adorable. I am blessed, but so are they to have me! Insert cute laughing emoticon here... Actually, I missed a mosquito when I was counting. I was too busy drooling over my Bolognese to count properly. At least several drowned in my saliva. That helped a bit.
  21. Whoa - how do you cope with being so ancient and grizzled? Tee hee hee... for some dopey reason Tab does not permit emoticons. Silly Tab.
  22. Bingley *is* missing his Mommy but my tender-hearted husband is working from home to bond and take care of him. Or, as my husband says, "gotch and socks with my boy". Guys. Are. Weird. Bingley loves to wrestle. I just don't do it right!
  23. Wow! Nice to be missed. When I am out at the acreage, I bring about 20,906,452 books and read my face off. Just me, Snowflake the cat and Cooper the dog, a stunning log house, trillions of birds and gazillions of trees. Oh, and 452,009,785,478 mosquitoes happily buzzing around my face and prancing around my eyeballs.
  24. I am making a big batch of Bolognese to go with homemade millet and buckwheat pasta. Am dog/house sitting and came into town to cook. We will have roasted fennel. Blueberries for dessert.
