  1. Yes - at least three feet in our yard. The snow is piled far over my head in many places (from shoveling driveways, etc.). It is thigh high in the park and I am SICK AND TIRED OF IT. This is later than normal. Usually about now most of the snow is gone but we keep getting more and more. It is in the forecast for tonight yet again. BLECH!
  2. We STILL have a solid three feet of snow in our yard, more elsewhere. It just doesn't stop snowing! Anyway... Vanilla Bean Brined Bone-In Pork Chops with Cherry Gastrique Creamy Herbed Grits Roasted Butternut Squash Soup with Pumpkinseed Oil and Pepitas White Wine Braised Fennel Homemade Boule Bread
  3. I've been out of town (and miss my precious Bingley to distraction!). But in preparation I did make a wondrous batch of Bolognese sauce that is utterly fantastic. There are many parts to it but it does include reduced white wine, aromatics, milk, blah blah blah. That on (purchased! shame on me) buckwheat pasta and KFC copycat coleslaw on the side rounds...
  4. Bacon Jam Glazed Ham Rosemary Potatoes Dauphinoise Roasted Asparagus with Lemon Aioli Bourbon Glazed Carrots
  5. I poached brats in an apple cider et. al. poaching liquid then broiled Warm German potato salad Steamed broccoli Fudge brownies
  6. Something soft and squishy as I had a LONG dental appointment today. So, I had Eggs Benedict and fresh blackberries. Tomorrow will be a vastly different story.
  7. Lisa, that looks yummy!!!! And so spring-y with the yellow daffodils. To go with encore roast beef from last night I made poutine with delicious lactose-free mozzarella that actually is cheese - not soy or any other product masquerading as cheese. Honey roasted carrots and more Eton Mess from last night.
  8. Loved your post, IH!!! Love seeing people enjoying life and being happy. Happy Birthday to Me! Tonight I am making: - Seared bacon wrapped diver scallops that I first dip into a garlic butter mixture then roll in bacon, sear and then serve with a roasted chestnut and wild mushroom cream (dried mushrooms foraged in Croatia we brought home in October...
  9. Forgot to mention that it feels great to have been missed. It gives me the warm fuzzies. Now to catch up on all of you!
  10. Here I am! See my "Prodigal Daughter has Returned" post to see why I have been preoccupied! A rescue PUPPY! My routine has gone all to pieces as I have been bonding with our fluffy son. Whenever I look at him my heart literally swells with joy and pride. He just makes me smile! We named him Bingley which really fits as I LOVE English literature....
  11. I found some excellent lactose-free mozzarella so am making a low-fat version of poutine. Just poutine and only poutine. Oh, heck. May as well steam some broccoli. Made superb chocolate chip cookies for my massage therapist this morning and am not having any myself (except that one I sacrified for quality control). Tomorrow's dinner is far more inspired...
  12. Oh, Addy and Gottaski! I feel for you poor girls. How very discouraging. But Addy, you are right. What is done is done. There is no point in placing blame on yourself. Do you not find that celiac can be character building in ways? I have learned a lot and cope/face challenges better than I did a few years ago. I feel wiser. Part of it may be because...
  13. Lomo de Cochino en Salsa de Parchita con Bayas Rosadas (Pork Tenderloin with Passion Fruit Pink Peppercorn Sauce) - Venezuelan Baked Potatoes with Chives Shaved Brussels Sprouts (roasted just until tender) Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette and Toasted Hazelnuts Fudgey Brownies (not for me but for the one I love)
  14. Penne with Sundried Tomato Pesto and Italian Sausage Ragu (using my homemade sundried tomato pesto) Minted Peas Strawberry, banana and blueberry salad dressed with honey lime poppyseed glaze
  15. You poor lovely girl. Are you feeling any better today?
  16. Pork Spring Rolls with Sweet and Spicy Chile Dipping Sauce Saucy Korean Shrimp over Vermicelli Baby Greens, Toasted Pecans, Sliced Pear and White Balsamic Orange Vinaigrette Roasted Apples with Vanilla Bean and Cinnamon
  17. Oh, I so wish I could come and take care of you. I'll bet your sweetheart is spoiling you to bits. Please get better soon. And keep those lungs firmly ensconced where they should be!
  18. Lemon and orange Roast Chicken au Jus Roast Baby Potatoes with Fresh Herbs Steamed Broccoli Strawberries with balsamic and pepper
  19. It is a moral dilemma for me, too. I LOVE animals. In fact, we are becoming foster "parents" soon. We lost our precious border collie three years ago and we feel it is time for another one to love. I grew up on a farm and saw a lot of butchery (pigs, cattle, sheep...still not sure where my black sheep Ebony went) and all manner of poultry. But I have...
  20. Yes. You understand so thoroughly, Irish. I wouldn't even need to explain anything to you. All I would need to say is "Ouch" and you would know. Our husbands are Heaven sent. My favourite time of the day is whenever mine gets home from work or wherever he is. Then he puts everything aside and we lie down and discuss my day. He dislikes talking shop...
  21. Yesterday I mixed up a batch of rub for making jerky today which I am just about to do. I am going housesitting for a few days tomorrow and of course cannot cook out there. So, am making a few snacks to take along that are better choices than pigging out on chips and such like. Tonight am making a bit pot of chile con carne with chipotle and a bit...
  22. You are so sweet. Cooking keeps me sane many days, even if I must break down the recipes into its various components and just do one at a time, rest, do another, rest... Part of it is the fear of losing my passion for things. I do not want to go down that path! So far, so good. I FINALLY slept last night. Most nights I must get up and walk...
  23. Korean Rice Cakes with Shrimp and Peas (am not making the rice cakes from scratch - while I usually love labour-intensive recipes, I just don't have it in me today d/t pain). To me this is the ultimate comfort food. Husband is away, it is snowing (as usual) and I'm hurting all over. But things could always be worse.
  24. Simply made a bowl of shrimp fried rice crammed with lots of veg. Back is absolutely killing me so that is all I could do.
  25. Oh, Mindwarp, that's a great attitude! Tomorrow is a new day. I am making pasta with a delicious marinara sauce (homemade, of course). Smaller portions than in my previous life (up to yesterday). And a simple baby greens and arugula salad with "candied" pecans caramelized pear vinaigrette. No dessert - we are on a mission to lose this adipose tissue...
