  1. Has anyone heard of or experienced glutening symptoms and been diagnosed with Covid? My son experienced extreme abdominal pain for nearly two weeks and we are trying to track down the cause. Through CT scans, ultrasounds, bloodwork, stool samples, and an MRI, we've ruled out appendicitis, problems with his gallbladder, intestinal twisting, colitis, parasites...
  2. Hello All- My family is traveling to Venice, Italy in 3 weeks. We are staying where we'll have a kitchen and I've done a bit of research on where/how to find gluten-free products for my son who has Celiac. Of course, we'd also love to eat out at restaurants occasionally. I've heard that Italy is pretty amazing for gluten-free. Has anyone been to Venice...
  3. Hmmm... I guess they could be advertising on her site, but I took a cooking class with her and she definitely had her reasons for recommending Shiloh Farms and seemed sincere. Maybe I'm naive? She bakes for her gluten-intolerant son, so I just assumed she was as cautious as me with gluten. But, I'm learning that different people treat those "manufactured...
  4. Just some additional info-- my son hasn't eaten the cookies yet, so no reaction. Also, we're using the Bob's Red Mill gluten-free oats and he's never had reaction to them before. I was just hoping to use this new brand of tapioca flour that came so highly recommended. Thanks!
  5. Has anyone experienced any issues with any Shiloh Farms products? They make a tapioca flour that is highly recommended by one of my favorite gluten-free bloggers.... BUT I just read the package and it has the disclaimer that the flour is processed on equipment that also processes wheat. Their website describes a very thorough cleaning procedure and production...
  6. My son is 3.5 years old and has been gluten-free since his Celiac diagnosis 1.5 years ago. He is doing great, but as he gets older, I'm discovering the challenges of dealing with school and classes, etc. Cy is taking an art class at a local NY Kids Club and although they assured me that they don't use play-dough and are familiar with gluten-issues and even...
  7. Hi. Not sure this is 100% the right board for this question, but i post here most often since I have a 3-year old son with Celiac Disease. Anyways, here is my question and I hope you can help me out.... My son was diagnosed with Celiac Disease a little over a year ago. He has been gluten-free since then and is doing amazingly on the new diet. At the...
  8. So, I'm racking my brain, trying to figure out what might have glutened my 3-yr old son. He told us his tummy hurt last night and this morning-- completely unprovoked by us. He's at an age where if we ask if something hurts, he'll always say "yes," so if he tells me something hurts without me asking, I tend to take it more seriously. At the same time...
  9. Hello- We're traveling to Philly for my cousin's graduation from Bryn Mawr this weekend. We'll be staying in King of Prussia, but will have a car. Any recommendations for gluten-free friendly restaurants? My son is 3 and has Celiac Disease, so ideally the restaurant is semi-kid friendly. Thanks!
  10. Hooray! Isn't it just amazing?! My son's personality and energy level changed within days of going gluten-free and he gained 1-pound per week for the first four weeks of the new diet. In 9-months of being gluten-free, he has gained over half his body weight, gotten taller, and most importantly HAPPIER. His pediatrician said she'd never seen a kid respond...
  11. Oh and so is the zinc oxide balmex.
  12. California Baby is gluten free if you want to try something new.
  13. Hi- So, they don't make infant tylenol anymore and I'm almost out of our Target Up & Up Brand Infant Tylenol that I confirmed is gluten-free. My son is almost 3 and has a 102 degree fever. I definitely have enough tylenol for today for him, but I know I'll need to restock soon and our local Target is not so easy to get to. We have a CVS, a Rite-Aid,...

  15. Thanks for the replies. My son had a few yesterday and I didn't really notice any reaction. Thanks again.
  16. Thank you very much for the replies. Sounds like, yes, the gluten will travel through my breastmilk to the new baby. It's funny because I breastfed my son until he was 15 months old-- eating gluten all the time-- and he didn't start exhibiting celiac symptoms until we stopped breastfeeding and he was only eating solids. At 15 months, he just stopped/slowed...
  17. The "Allergy Proof Recipes for Kids" by Leslie Hammond and Lynne Marie Rominger is really great. Maybe not perfect for the entire family, but great for young kids. Healthy stuff and all the recipes are wheat-free, gluten-free, nut-free, egg-free, dairy-free, and low in sugar.
  18. Hi- I just recently bought a box of Blue Diamond Natural Almond Nut Thins as a cracker option for my 28-month old son who has Celiac Disease. The box says "gluten free" all over it, but when I got home and read the box more closely, I found that it also says "Produced in a facility that also makes products containing: soy, pecans, hazelnuts and wheat."...
  19. Hi, I'm due with baby #2 in about 6 weeks. We recently found out that our son (28 months old) has Celiac Disease. He is doing amazingly on a gluten-free diet and we are thrilled beyond belief. At the same time, the Celiac diagnosis came out-of-the-blue for us since, as far as we know at this point, no one in either of our families has been diagnosed Celiac...
  20. Hello- Here's a paranoid question for you fellow parents. Our son was diagnosed with Celiac disease in late June. He's been responding amazingly well to his new gluten-free diet and has gained over 4lbs in 4 weeks. Our GI doc told us to give him a multivitamin with iron and a Vitamin D supplement to help him "catch up" with these nutrients. We've been...
  21. Hi- This is absolutely one of the best resources I've found over the past month since my 27 month old son was diagnosed with Celiac. But, now I have a question. We're on vacation at a rented house with my parents. My husband and I brought along a ton of gluten-free foods, a cutting board, utensils & dishes for my son, a colander, a can opener, and wooden...
  22. So, do you use the products where they make these statements?
  23. Hello Again, I'm going through the process of contacting many companies about whether or not their product is gluten-free. At this point, I'm mostly dealing with our personal products in the bathroom. I'm running into a lot of responses where they say that their product is gluten-free (i.e. contains no gluten ingredients), but they can't guarantee that...
  24. Hello- My 2-year old son was JUST diagnosed with Celiac Disease last week. We've cleared out our kitchen of all gluten and gluten-contaminated items and I've checked out our local grocery stores' gluten-free sections. All in all, I'm overwhelmed, but feeling hopeful. All of that said, I'm confused by a few ingredients still. What is the deal with "maltodextrin...
