i was at a meeting recently, where they serve dinner, ironically the meeting is at a communitiy room at our local hospital (where the meal is catered by the hospital cafeteria and i do not eat BECAUSE THEY CAN'T DO GLUTEN FREE. AT A HOSPITAL.) but i digress.... 'oh, my doctor told me i have that, too. i just can't stop eating bread ha ha ha' as she...

i find that i can tolerate some foods that were off limits to me (soy, certain veggies, ice cream, chocolate, etc) if i do not eat them two days in a row, for whatever reason. i'm thinking histamines. whatever it is, i can eat many more/different foods. i usually eat the same sort of food/meal every 3 days. i was puzzled why i could eat something one...

yeah, i'm with cyclinglady - the deep freeze has been a blessing. i make stuff and put it in individual portions, so if it's just me eating, i'll get out one portion. if more than one, i just take that amount out. i do better with beans that i cook from dry (navy, pinto, etc) rather than the canned ones, even though most are safe. for whatever reason...

'but you look fine' and 'i wish i was skinny like you' ugh. for just one day, i would like to wear my intestines on the outside of my body lolz nothing like 25 years of damage from misdiagnosis (hopefully, they're not that scary anymore) also, everybody who thinks 'o, no big deal. you just hafta order off the gluten free menu' ummmmm. nope...

i third it. if i was glutened, i would be out of commission for a lot longer than a whole day, because of inflammation. i eat the barilla, but i don't have issues with corn (soy, however, will make me feel terrible for a day. that's how i know it's not gluten - if it was, it would take longer to get back to normal. one day is long enough to get it out...

don't forget how sneaky celiac is: i never noticed how incredibly awful i felt (and it was over a long period of being undiagnosed/never heard of celiac until it almost killed me) because it creeeeeeped up. a little migraine here, a little neck pain there, allll the gi symptoms, a little rashy rash here, a little pneumonia there, a little less energy here...

imitation crabmeat has wheat. check to make sure your omelette isn't thickened with pancake batter or flour (some restaurants do this) i would not eat at a chinese buffet (or any buffet lolz) in your case, i would make everybody go to pf changs or eat ahead of time and enjoy a glass of wine with pleasant company at the restaurant

gluten dude is a major whiner, in my opinion. (and shouldn't it be 'gluten free dude' ?) i believe he makes his living off of the website, so why wouldn't he continue to cry about it? after all, he's been gluten-free since 2007 - you would think he would have a handle on this disease by now, especially since he's THE gluten dude. we all mess up now and...

o, and almost forgot - when your body starts acting like it should because you've been gluten free for awhile, your immune system will be CRAZY good. like, better than everybody else's. i've not been sick at all, not even a sniffle, in the past 6 years. before that, i caught every cold (that would turn into bronchitis or pneumonia) every flu, etc - last...

duuuuuuuude. you are speaking to a forum of celiacs. we *alllll* face these difficulties. are you saying my life sucks? i went undiagnosed for TWENTY FIVE YEARS. i am 6 years into the gluten-free lifestyle and have not developed any other major difficulties. in fact, all those terrible things (symptoms, tons of them) went away. you won't see...

most packaged frozen pizzas don't 'like' me - i ate the freschetta brand (gluten-free) and it felt like i was digesting broken glass - not fun! the against the grain brand is one i can manage. idk why. i still have a little residual sensitivity to soy (but not all the time? lolz stupid body) and i try to stick with the brands that have the least amounts...

Question About Raw Honey
notme replied to julirama723's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i eat honey with no issues. it doesn't matter, local or from grocery store, i'm ok with it. o, the age old tea bag question: nope, no wheat paste - i understand they are heat pressed so that the paper meshes to itself. i use red rose brand tea bags and they have staples (no good for microwave, but i always make tea with boiling water) if you are... -
how long does gluten stay in your system?
notme replied to 1398-Days's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
this is alllllllllllllllllllllllllll not true. (except that corn maltodextrine is ok) i don't even know *what * that second statement even means. not everybody is lactose intolerant. once your villi begin to heal, they will produce more of the enzyme your body needs to digest lactose. and what does maltodextrine have to do with any of this ? -
Paper Plates?
notme replied to albauer94's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i just spit on my dishes and hope for the best because my dog died KIDDING !! but i do hate the dishwasher discussion. let's get back to the subject i think the hardest thing would be to keep the kid's hands out of his mouth (and toys, etc) i, myself, had a hard time stopping licking my fingers. you don't realize how many times you do that... -
Paper Plates?

do they use hand sanitizer? whoever is handling his food (including him) need to wash their hands with soap and water, especially if they are preparing gluteny food for others. hand sanitizer will only make the gluten germ free. you have to rinse it off. i would switch your pet food, too. and anything that could run into his mouth at bath time, like... -

last night i made stuffed Giant Zucchini - honestly, idk why, but our garden produces ABUNDANTLY ! we plant less and less plants and we end up getting killed with veggies. i stuffed it with fresh sausage that i jazzed up with some garlic, onions, oregano & mint. mixed with romano cheese & mozzarella and topped with more (i pre-cooked the giant... -
mine is generic: alprazolam. i've got a pretty healthy fear of addiction, so, only use it under duress. there were tons of other meds that my docs have thrown at me pre-celiac diagnosis - they all knocked me out. even the one they gave me for increasing my appetite: well, you can't eat if you're sleeping at the table, lolz. it's been trial &...
