  1. Grilled brazillian sausage, roasted sweet potato, chilled asparagus and fresh sliced papaya with a dollup of greek yogurt.
  2. I was at my sister's for Easter and helping with preparations for dinner. I stirred the mac and cheese (not gluten-free), and some sauce splashed on my fingers. It was hot and I licked it off. Then I said OMG I just licked your mac & cheese off my fingers! My sister offered me Listerine. I'm hoping that wee bit of cc doesn't get me.
  3. [font="Comic Sans MS" We had stuffed mushrooms and fixed up rice (I added the extra sauteed ground pork, green onions and mushrooms to left over white rice.) It wasn''t bad, a solid "B" according to DP.
  4. Grilled BBQ chick breasts, sweet potato for me, Idaho for him. Homemade daikon pickle. (Pickled white radish with cucumber and sliced carrots, lots of minced garlic and rice vinegar and fish sauce, some sliced onions and red pepper flakes and dill. I bought a watermelon radish at the farmers market today too, along with a kohlrabi, and a small bunch...
  5. Thank you mushroom. I just e-mailed myself the recipe after hitting the link. That looks yummy.
  6. We had grilled Italian sausage, rice, and swiss chard sauted in garlic and olive oil. It kills me how you think you'll have way to much of the greens, and it ends up being a little bit. Conversation over dinner. Me: "I notice you don't seem to like the Chard." Him. "No, I don't like it." Me: "Try to think of it like a condiment. Him: "OK"...
  7. We had left over corned beef on Brazillian cheese bread with horseradish and the left over veggies. Chocolate chocolate chip gelato for dessert. It's always good to reward yourself for using up leftovers.
  8. Last night we had slow cooker corned beef and cabbage with potatos, carrots and onion. Tonight I made vegetarian minestrone and DP smoked a chicken. I'd made cheese breadsticks and homemade applesauce too. It was a happy meal.
  9. Sent you a personal message...Hope you got it!I got yours! Hope your feeling better...It sucks being Ill!!!True story about the dogs...hope it made you laugh! :)

  10. Hi Lucia, I live in south Florida. This is the first year I've tried growing papayas, so I'm pretty excited. The hanging fruit is so big that the tree knocked over. (DP saved it, but says we need to pick some fruit. The tree is propped up with a garage broom and a couple of wood slats. I emptied the compost bin in the spot I planted it in, so maybe that...
  11. Tonight dinner was modified chicken Brunswick stew. (Modified by adding the last bits of things in the cupboard, like 1/3 a bag of black eyed peas, left out the okra (didn't have any), added extra veggies I had on hand, like kale (also went to the farmers market today, the seller said he picked it last night). Used up a bunch of veggies! Served...
  12. The dermatologist I've seen for the last three years had his receptionist call me tonight to apologize. She said that they had revamped the method and inserviced everyone in the office on how to route medical records, and proceeded to explain what happened, and how dear Dr. had never seen the biopsy report which diagnosed me with Discoid Lupus. I...
  13. I don't even want to ask you this because I'm scared of the answer, but here it is: Did your doctor refer you to the consultant? Even if he didn't, that's just plain BS. On a happy note, I saw a new & improved Derm today. He was well informed about Lupus and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease and Celiac based on the conversation we had. He...
  14. Thanks for your previous kind responses, Mushroom and Love. It was kind of a whack on the head to learn that I had other stuff going on, the Lupus is real, that's from a skin biopsy. I still don't think the Lyme's disease blood draw result is a real concern, it just shows antibodies on the panel, and by body furls antibodies at everything. I have...
  15. I'm glad you liked my trick for swapping potatoes w/ turnips. Of course, it will probably come back to bite me when my adult children have to go to see a psychologist with trust issues.

  16. I found out I have Discoid Lupus from picking up biopsy results from my dermatologist. The biopsy was taken over a year ago. This is news to me, the medical assistant called after the biopsy and told me she had good news, the biopsy was good. It's still "Buyer beware" Now it is "Patient beware." I urge everyone to pick up results from every test...
  17. This is how bad it is! I stopped by medical records because I'm changing doctors (again) and requested all copies of my lab draws for the past two years. Included in the stack of papers was a copy of the form they sent to our local health dept. as required by State Law. So they notified the health dept. that I had Lyme disease, but didn't notify me in November...
  18. I had fresh okra that needed to be cooked, and I didn't feel like cooking. But I hate to waste food! I boiled 2 cups of red lentils with 2 cups of water and a can of diced tomatos while I sauteed chopped onion, serrano pepper, red pepper, garlic and sliced okra over medium high heat for 7-10 minutes. The onions actually burnt (and turned sweet) and...

  20. Neurapathy just reminded me of another stupid office visit. I went to my follow up visit after an EMG and ENG (run the other way if a specialist orders that test). The Neurologist told me I had neurapathy. I already knew that, but had been corrected by other doctors who said that was a diagnosis, so I couldn't call it that until it was diagnosed...
  21. I love the term "celiac stupidity!" Way to go Luv! Thanks for the laugh, needed it!
  22. This office is paperless, so everything's on the computer. The D.O. clicked on lab results and saw that I had a low Vitamin D level. She asked me if I was taking supplemental Vitamin D. That result was from a year ago, so I asked her if she'd ordered a Vitamin D blood draw, and she admitted she had not, and that's what tells me in a nutshell she's not...
  23. Yesterday at my office visit, my D.O. was reviewing my blood work ordered by a neurologist in the same medical group about four months ago. She said she didn't know how to interpret the results, but it looked like I could be positive for Lyme Disease. She said "I never order blood tests I don't know how to interpret", then proceeded to tell me that...
